This should be good.HEY..am I allowed boast that I am going to see Ralph Fiennes in 'The Faith Healer' at Dublin's Gate Theatre in here.
:-)
Haydon 21-03-2006, 12:26 PM The thread happened when you posted at 1.17pm. The forum happened about 10 minutes ago. :) ;)
And no, you're not allowed to boast.
Patsy 21-03-2006, 12:27 PM No, you can't boast here. ;)
Dol asked, Haydon obliged. Howsabout that then? Cheers H.
Would you mind moving my Wiz thread, please?
Aondeag 21-03-2006, 12:31 PM OK..just ignore what I said so.That is..the bit about going to see Ralph Fiennes.Just forget I ever mentioned anything about going to see Ralph Fiennes.
(that's Ralph..with an 'R')
:yahoo:
Seabreeze 21-03-2006, 12:34 PM I am going to love this thread. So what sort of thing do you like to see at the theatre? I love musicals first and then plays. My faves have to be
Scrooge (with Tommy Steele)
Rocky Horror (yes I have dressed up)
Beauty and the Beast
Oh theres just too many to mention really.
The last play I saw was The Picture of Dorien Grey with Robert Powell.
Aondeag 21-03-2006, 12:40 PM OH I LOVE Dorian Grey.Great Great tale!
The last play I saw was 'Lady Windermere's Fan', just after Christmas.
Really enjoyed it.
Before that I saw a production of 'Salome', which was great too. There was nobody famous in either production....but I don't mind that.
:-)
Patsy 21-03-2006, 12:50 PM Last professional thing I saw was Tell Me on a Sunday with Denise Get 'em Outen. She wasn't bad, but didn't like the show much.
Before that I saw Abigail's Party (loved loved loved the TV play), which was quite good.
Of course, I get to see amateur shows, like Jesus Christ Superstar (professional once, amateur 4 times including one I was in myself!), Sweet Charity, Guys and Dolls, coz my mates are in them.
Aondeag 21-03-2006, 12:55 PM Best I ever saw was 'The Phantom of the Opera' when it came to the Point in Dublin...came up with my sisters and we stayed overnight in a hotel and all.I LOVE the Phantom, and I could'nt believe I got to see it.It was a fabulous version of it.
Red velvet...gilt .....candles.I have never seen anything like it.It was just soooo atmospheric.
And the spooky eye bit on top of the curtains...woooo.
:ghost:
Really left an impression on me.
Patsy 21-03-2006, 01:03 PM I absolutely HATED Phantom. One of the worst evenings I've ever had to spend money for. I still haven't seen Chicago live (although I've seen the film a gazillion times, approximately). The Lion King was fantastic.
Les Mis is my absolute fave of anything, anywhere so far.
Seabreeze 21-03-2006, 03:44 PM The Phantom of the Opera and Miss Siagon were both brilliant. One of the funniest I have seen though was Naked Flame.....yes it was a play about firemen who were often naked on the stage but the funniest thing was the 3 old men behind us in a packed theatre full of women compaining they had booked for the wrong show. :D
I have only seen one musical and that is "Cats".
I went with my mum, dad, gran, papa, aunts, uncles, cousins etc when I was little.
My cousin and I were a little bored and didn't see the fun in watching people dressed as cats dancing around a stage but during the interval we went up on stage and got some of them to sign our programs.
When "Cats" came back to Glasgow last year, I got Miss PJ a ticket for her bday cos she said she'd always likr to see it. I obviously had to get one for myself. I definately appreciated more the 2nd time round since I actually understood what it was all about. The people dressed as cats were very bendy indeed. Perhaps Buzz should try out for auditions after she's had a few drinks?

Sorry, just realised this is not true at all...
When I did Higher Music in high school we had to go and see "Joseph and his Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat" and "Jesus Christ Superstar" both of which were very good.
