I saw this up here last week - after fighting my way through hundreds of protesters - alright tens of protesters - OK about half a dozen protesters!!

I really enjoyed it - and despite what the protesters say it is actually a very moral show - albeit with a lot of swearing!

Anybody else seen it - have opinions on it?

Wow! This forum has really taken off with a bang, hasn't it? I think Dolores might find herself up for nomination for this month's award. Oh yes.

No, haven't seen it, Rob. :)

I think this has already been to Edinburgh, I am sure it was David Soul that was playing the part of Jerry.......but I maybe wrong. I do know that when it was shown in Glasgow a few weeks ago there were huge protests!

I have been reliably informed that Jerry Springer the Opera, is a good show if you can stand the excessive use of bad language and aggressive behaviour.

If David Soul is in it, I find myself curious about the kind of role he may be playng. Married man maybe having several flings or maybe agressive man with a temper and leaning towards wife beating. Whatever, the latter is a bit to close to home for him I would have thought.

Got any ideas as to why there is a protest?

Is the protest deliberate to set you in the mood for the show ahead?

I went to London to see it a couple of years ago and thought it was great. It was so like the tv programme it had me in stitches at times. It`s coming to a theatre by us in April and already there are people protesting outside about it.

I think David Soul was playing the part of Jerry.

The reason for the protests was down to blasphemy - apparently God rapes the Virgin Mary!

David Soul is excellent as Jerry as he looks very much like him when in makeup and has all his actions.

This is playing in Glasgow at the moment. I've heard mixed reviews about it.
My mum didn't know it was pretty crude and was going to take my gran to it but I told her I didn't think it was the sort of thing my gran would appreciate. Think she'd have a heart attack from what I've heard about it.

Ahhh, see Rob I have been taken in by the media hype! Shame on me!:excl:

There were cries of "if Allah was depicted in this way" blah, blah, blah.

The main protests are because Jesus is portrayed as a man in a nappy - and at one point clains to be "a little bit gay".

Most of the people protesting have never seen the show - and have little idea what it is all about.

As far as I am concerned - I won't protest outside their church (all that eye for an eye stuff is too violent for me!!!) - and they shouldn't protest outside the theatre I'm going to.
