For me it is Miss Saigon (Bella I know this is one of your faves too!).

It moved me to tears I was so choked I couldn't clap, couldn't speak, couldn't find my tissues ... i was a complete mess!

A Chorus Line. I first saw it in Drury Lane with the original Broadway cast and it took my breath away. They should bring it back immediately.

The film was rubbish and all copies should be destroyed preferably alongside Dickie-luvvie Attenborough.

Biggest let-down was Les Mis. Dear God, it went on for hours. I gave up at half-time and waited for the others in a nearby pub.

I've often wondered what Les Mis must be like on stage ... the book is bloody hard work even in the "exciting" or "romantic" bits!

Miss Saigon is one of my favs and it is soooooo emotional! I saw it when we came down to London for my 30th birthday and I was 7 months pregnant! I blamed my raging hormones for me sniffing and snotting so much but when it came to Edinburgh a few years back, I was sniffing & snotting again! I loved it!

Les Miserable is an old favourite too and found this very emotional too.

I took Katie to see Starlight Express for her birthday last year and was just blown away with it! It was amazing. The Playhouse in Edinburgh was kitted out the same way as the theatre in London with the race-track and instead we can 3-D glasses and they worked very well. I had to dodge a rock coming straight for me! The best part for me was just seeing Katie enjoy it, she was just thrilled by it all.

Have to say I love Joseph too, the first year we went to see it was when Philip Schofield was playing the part of Joseph and the day we went was when Scotland was playing Ireland at Murrayfield and he came on at the end with two placards........he showed the Ireland score first and the place just erupted when he showed the Scotland score as we had beaten them.

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang is coming to Edinburgh at Christmas and I quite fancy that one and Mr B & I are going to see Mamma Mia in May.

Return to the Forbidden Planet - every time it has been up here I've gone twice - brilliant stuff"

I'm also a big fan of Blood Brothers

I saw the school's version of Les Mis a year ago and it was brilliant - I'd love to go and see a proper version.

As for A Chorus Line - it was up here a few years back - with Adam Faith - and I'm afreaid I've never been more bored while watching a professional performance.

Sorry Fee - we'll just have to agree to differ on this one.

Oh - and I'm going to see Miss Saigon in May!

I saw Chitty Chitty Bang Bang a few years back, it was excellent. My son really enjoyed it too ... Gary Wilmot was Professor Cracacus (or whatever!) he was simply splendid!

I saw Gary in the programme we got at the Sunderland Empire, we had no-one famous in ours, but I will tell you this Dol - Caracaticus Potts waved directly at ME when Chitty flew off at the end - he did, he did, he did and no-one will convince me otherwise.

I take it we're not including pantomimes here... (if we are then I'd say 'Aladdin' at the Kings theatre in Glasgow - hilarious!)

I've only been to 3 stage shows (I think...) - 'Cats', 'Joseph' and 'jesus christ superstar'
I really don't know which one I liked best. maybe 'Joseph' since it was the easiest to follow!

I've seen Joseph and JCS 3 times (also been in JCS once!).

But Les Mis is my fave stage show (Fee does get things wrong sometimes, folks ;) ). Only seen it once, but I've listened to it loads of times, so much so I've worn out 2 tapes and now my CD jumps too! "One Day More......."

My favourite musical on film, that I haven't yet seen on stage, is My Fair Lady. What I would give to have "done" Eliza.......

Apparantly my fantasy woman Amy Nuttal is playing 'Eliza Doolittle' in MFL now that she's left Emmerdale.

Look at her, isn't she great?

Hello Patsy,

There are very few shows that I hate, most I like and some more so than others. Les Mis is Ok but so very sad, but then some of the best ones are.

My fair lady is a wonderful musical and also a lovely play. My favourite musical of them all is West side story. I do like South Pacific, Fiddler on the roof and of course the unavoidable Sound of Music. Oh so many, love them all.

My greatest love of all is for the operatic stage. I have seen Miss Saigon but once you've seen or been in Madam Butterfly, Miss Saigon just doesn't come a close second.

I gather you'd like to play Eliza Doolittle, an excellent role if you can maintain a Cockney dialect and allow it to show in your singing. I can't do a Cockney dialect for any prolonged period of time, I would eventually slip up. A fault some of us have. However that's not to say that Eliza Doolittle has to be a Cockney, I can do a wonderful and broad Glaswegian and also a broad pitmatic Geordie. The latter is the dialect I used for my performance as Eliza and our ever so Queens English Speaker was a well known Newscaster working for the BBC. All in all a wonderful show, you simply must have a run at.

If you ever get the chance to audition for it and you know you have the range, go for it.

Maureen

For a good atmosphere in the audience you can`t beat The Rocky Horror Show, have seen it many times and each time was amazing. Miss Saigon and Phantom are up there in the top 10 but I think the one that had me smiling all the way through was seeing Tommy Steele in Scrooge. His presence on stage was captivating and he always seems to really have a good time himself and considering his age he is still very agile.
Saw Chitty a few years back with Richard 0 Brien playing the child catcher - - excellent part for him.
I need to book to see something again soon after all this talk.

I saw 'Evita' in London on a school trip....loved it.

I'm off to see Phantom of the Opera in a couple of weeks time and I can't wait :w00t:

The only other professional musical stage show I've seen is Sweeney Todd and that's excellent

Surprised some of you don't enjoy Les Mis.....must agree with those who really enjoy it. I saw it in London a bit ago and loved it.

My all time faves however are Phantom of the Opera....and The Lion King...seeing the circle of Life performed live is amazing!

Only play I really didn't enjoy too much was FAME.

Only play I really didn't enjoy too much was FAME.

I saw that too - and was bored stiff - I couldn't care less about any of the characters and jsu wanted it to end!

The film and TV series were so much better!

Thanks Fee, I knew there had to be one other sane person out there... I HAD to sit through the whole thing and trust me you made the right choice.

I love Blood Brothers and also The Producers (the film is fab too).

I haven't seen many I'm afraid, I'm not a big fan of Lloyd-Webber.

Grease was good fun, erm, Mamma Mia was fab, Saturday Night Fever was rubbish, I tend to prefer the film version, unleess someone I know is in the orchestra and can get me a freebie - haven't done that for years though.

I will admit to being one of the very few people to have seen Bernadette - the story of St Bernadette. I got tickets to the opening night and the place was full of nuns. I thought it was quite good actually, but it closed within the week.

Blood brothers is my favourite but I have been to Rocky Horror 3 times and thoroughly enjoyed it each time.

I still have my basque in the loft although I don't think it would fit now and I am getting far too old. I loved the audience participation of RHS ended up soaking wet with rice stuck in my hair. The first time I went we had a party after at a mate's house, I drank Tequila for the first time and had to be carried down the stairs as I was legless.

I think they have tamed the shows down now as there was so much clearing up to do aftewards.

All the oldies coming out of the closet now

We used to go every week to the RHS when it opened in the Kings Road (I think the theatre is a MacDonalds now:bored:)

One of the gang was Swiss and she always called it the Horry Rocka Show, and it's been that for me ever since.

But yes, I'm probably too old for the hot pants and Mickey Mouse ears now too.

Saw the "original" Starlight Express in London a few years back - went on 2 occasions, the second we were on the upper level where the racetrack went round and the second row back so had a great time! Fab show!

Also saw Mary Poppins when it opened in Bristol a couple of years ago - it's still on in London, but I think it's going on tour at some point..... Brilliant!

Miss Saigon and Cats were good, but I prefered Starlight Express!

Well, way behind the times here, I finally got to see Phantom of the Opera for my birthday treat.

I did enjoy it as it was something I'd always wanted to see but I must admit that both Maz and I were a bit ... well not let down really but surprised. We both thought it would be much more lavish and spectacular. We were also surprised how small Her Majesty's Theatre is. We had a grand day out in London anyway.
