I'll let you know. I like him. I must look into this more. Bella 22-03-2006, 04:57 PM It's got Christian Slater in it... I'll let you know. Haven't seen it myself Slip, but my friend saw it last year.....or maybe it was the year before at the Edinburgh Festival and loved it! Christain Slater was excellent according to her. Enjoy! maxine 22-03-2006, 05:23 PM Oh, I wanted to see this, Slipper, but just haven't got my @rse into gear getting tickets. Let us know what you think. Christian Slater's only in it for 10 weeks, I think. Dolores 22-03-2006, 05:43 PM isn't Alex Kingston Nurse Ratchett? It should be a good show. Andrea 22-03-2006, 08:30 PM I never realised they'd done this as a stage show. I loved the film and would love to see how this works on stage. Slipper, you'll have to come back and review it for us. Slipper 24-03-2006, 10:44 AM Well, it was superb. The cast are what really makes this play. The inter-action between them, the pace of dialogue all make for a very entertaining production. Obviously the story has its dark moments but the humour content does have you laughing aloud rather than a stiffled and embarassed giggle. It's not a lavish production, more a very high quality regional effort but the slight rawness of it is appealing and the chemistry between the cast/characters is afterall the essence of the story. The supporting actors are all familiar faces from the world of comedy so the timing and expressions/mannerisms shine. As much is said without words as with. I was impressed at the unassuming performance of Slater but I think with this play (remember it's his second run) he discards that Hollywood persona and revels in being a piece of work where he has to act without the opportunity of "Cut" "Take-two" etc..... I strongly reccommend this as night out if you can get/afford tickets (why is London sooo damn expensive) This was only the second night of this 10wk run so keep your eyes and ears open for other reviews of this cast. As an aside, the audience were, how can I put it? Of an age and largely of one sex and when Slater drops his towel there was a gasp - followed by a distinct round of laughing. (Guy's, theres flashes from the girls too) isn't Alex Kingston Nurse Ratchett? It should be a good show. Yep, that was her and Boy did she look better in the plays uniform than that scruffy ER get-up :naughty: however, I could then be accussed of having a matron fixation. maxine 25-03-2006, 08:33 AM You've inspired me, Slipper. I've booked my tickets! Dolores 25-03-2006, 09:34 AM You've inspired me, Slipper. I've booked my tickets! ohh goody ... I can be available any weekend!!! :whistling: Dolores 09-04-2006, 09:55 PM i am pleased to report that Maxine has chosen to take me ... as long as I behave myself between now and then! :naughty: Cat 09-04-2006, 10:16 PM Great review comfy shoe shod person. I have lots of memories from the film - the HUGE indian guy pulling up the sink - Nurse Ratchets dead watery eyes - the white haired chap who danced down the corridors - but most of all the pure feeling of desperation and helplessness as Jack Nicholson was taken for more and more needless treatment. Not a great theatre goer but I would watch this. If it was shown in Bedford. Dolores 01-05-2006, 10:19 AM As an aside, the audience were, how can I put it? Of an age and largely of one sex and when Slater drops his towel there was a gasp - followed by a distinct round of laughing. (Guy's, theres flashes from the girls too) well me and Max went to see this on Saturday night and thoroughly enjoyed it. We brought the binoculars for the full frontal nude scene which we thought Slipper had promised us and the fact that he had shorts on underneath his towel was probably the only disappointing moment of the whole show for me! It was an excellent performance and later on when i was chatting to Christain I told him so, he said thank you ... not that I'm name dropping or anything! me and Christian chatting!! And there was us thinking we'd just taken a pic!! Coastie is going to be green! A thoroughly good night (and afternoon) we had. I even had entertainment at the interval with the 3 people next to me discussing prolapsed bladders, elective cesarean (spelt wrong no doubt) and penis enlargements! Nearly put me off my icecream - but not quite.:eat: Dolores 01-05-2006, 10:48 AM ... and the autograph!! (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v515/doloresredd/ChristainSlatersAutograph.jpg) I was so uncool hanging about the back stage door but I didn't care!! Someone even tried the old "I've got crutches let me through" trick ... huh! I can tell you that cut no ice with me!!! (memo to self : must get crutches next time!) Fee For All 01-05-2006, 11:20 AM Jealous, moi? http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y118/FenellaFinkelstein/smiley/crossedarms.gif Looks like you had a great time - Christian looks like a young Jack Nicholson in the signed photo; does he in the flesh? Cat 01-05-2006, 01:55 PM BRAVO DOLORES!! Brilliant - looks like you wasted no time and launched yourself on him for a full on snog, was it nice? It looked like he knew you - have you met before? Patsy 01-05-2006, 04:29 PM Well done, girls, what a coup! I would love to be a back-stage groupie, but my hubby has beaten it out of me. He doesn't hold with celebrity. :evilmad: Did you sharpen your elbows specially? He does look a bit like Jack in that photo, doesn't he? |
