View Full Version : 22nd March Show
IsLe Of WeAtHeR 23-03-2006, 10:47 AM Did you notice the deliberate manipulation of the presentations to make you think that Ruth the Badger's team had won and the chap who probably will win (only one with any charm) would lose..oooh the rotters
"I am a world class presenter" said Manny - er did you know that "Presenting" is NOT a sport and has no World Championships. :ranting:
Tigereye 23-03-2006, 11:01 AM Manny seemed like a much more likeable guy in the after show - not at all conceited and up himself like he came across in the tasks.
Don't like Jo but did'nt think she should have been brought in to the board room.
thought both bill boards were good considering the time constraints, but the ads sucked.

Agree with you there, TE. It was obviously personal. Jo doesn't annoy me nearly as much as at the beginning but I do wish she'd stop the stupid facial expressions.
Ruth is starting to irritate me with that look she gets when she doesn't agree with something someone says. She furrows her brow in a 'you're so stupid I can't even understand what you're talking about' sort of way. That would really wind me up if I was on the receiving end of it.
I didn't like Manny so I'm glad he's gone. He gave me the creeps. But his self belief is to be...admired?
I thought Paul gave a good performance at the presentation. Although I did agree about the Paul Daniels' tag line. Seemed a bit cheap to me. He's actually quite a good looking fella but could do with losing a few pounds - lovely eyes. Ooops sorry, I digress.

Paul is about 2 stone overweight and if i were employing him on 100k a year that would be a concern. If he hasn't learned how to feed himself yet then what else does he not know?
I thought Sir Alan got it spot on tonight.
There was no way he could have fired either Jo or Ruth. Jo didn't seem to put a foot wrong today and Ruth organised the team, even if they did go down the wrong path. The adverts were solid and everyone seemed to pull there weight.
This therefore only left Mani, who gave the group the wrong information to start with. From what I could see this was the only flaw in the project, and therefore left Sir Alan with no other option.
I'm starting to really like Ruth and Paul. I think they both manage well and both are confident in their abilities.
Figaro 23-03-2006, 08:18 PM I quite liked Manny, although I do admit he was arrogant and self-satisfied. But he didn't come across as so much of a back-stabber as some of the other people. All the same, I couldn't disagree with AS's decision to fire him last night.
I've liked Ruth until now but she let herself down a bit last night I thought. She was good in the task, but in the AS interview at the end she was too aggressive and willing to lie to save her own neck. I was also irritated a lot by the grimaces she makes when she disagrees with someone. I don't like her quite so much now and I wouldn't have been sorry to see her go last night.
Paul is fast becoming my favourite.
Next weeks show looks like a goodun. They have to sell used cars, and there was a clip last night of Jo having a huge run-in with a punter. Oh goody!

I'm not so sure. He was very keen to disassociate himself from the misfired 'courier' (or chaperone or whatever it was) ad, and to heap all the blame on his project manager.
Patsy 23-03-2006, 10:06 PM Concierge, Swerve. World class presenter, my ar$e. Ruth got him spot on. I wouldn't trust him to present my sh!t.
As for Sharon teaching people the ins and outs of advertising, was deliberately withholding her skills or what? I know the edit is very misleading, but her whining voice is really getting on my nerves.
Still Paul, Ruth and Ansell for me so far.
Have to say, though, Syed's voice was very good on the ad.

If he was so against the idea at the begining he never mentioned it and then was quite annoyed at the fact that he wasn't chosen to be the spokesperson.
If he had hinted that he was against the idea and had wanted something different then AS might have looked at him differently but as it was he mouthed off when it all went against him and he quite rightly got fired.
I just wonder how he would have approached Ruth if they had won - would have then agreed that the consierge thing was the right the thing to do.......I guess that is exactly what he would have done!
Agree, that Jo should not have been called in and that it was a personality thing even though she does annoy me, I think it was wrong to call her in but then who else could have took her place.
I like Paul he does seem pretty genuine but Sharon (the scottish girl, is that her name) accent is really getting on my nerves, and I love the Scottish accent but her is just a bit too much and I think that would put people off!

As was suggested in the boardroom - Ansell should have been brought in to face the music. It was him who suggested the Concierge theme first after all.
Ruth choose both people to take with her to the boardroom for personal reasons, people she had fallen out with on previous tasks. Her face the previous week when Manny had shredding chicken for about 10 hours was a picture. :naughty:
AS isn't stupid - he knows why those people were brought into the boardroom - and in the long term it's not going to do Ruth any favours.
Paul didn't impress me as much this week as I hoped he would. What about the bit '**** covering' before he knew his team had won. "I had to come up with all the ideas in my team myself"
I'm looking forward to new week as well - Jo trying to sell cars
survivorfan 24-03-2006, 08:21 AM What about the bit '**** covering' before he knew his team had won. "I had to come up with all the ideas in my team myself"
Mind you - he did.
Coastie 25-03-2006, 11:07 AM Ruths team had a great idea but executed it badly...in so doing they missed the point...If they had stuck with a guy holding up the card to hail down a plane idea they would have done better I feel...instead they went off on a whole other angle that had me confused...you never even got to see the card until the final 'Let the World Revolve Around You' bit at the end of the commercial (liked that by the way...well done Jo...for once!)
Paul is getting more and more punch worthy every week...and as for 'Miss I teach Advertising' how pants was she during her real chance to shine! Just goes to show...knowledge and teaching a subject is one thing...executting the skill in RL is an entirely different matter!
Glad Manny has gone...for all his upping himself re presentations the ones I have seen him do thus far were IMHO appalling...I thought Ruth was right in her decision not to use him...and oh how he tried to back pedal later on...didn't think Jo deserved to be back in front of Sugar though but have to say the big black guy is playing the game very well indeed...:naughty:
Woo hoo...go Paul go Paul. Can just say that I voted for Paul from day one. Yes I did...just like I did Joe Pasquale.
Ghost, Paul did come up with the idea all on his own so had every right to say so, the others just did as he told them, no added input what so ever - hardworking and keen once they had been instructed, but on their own the rest of the team was a useless as Manni trying to present Patsy's sh!t in any decent light.
And Max.....yes he is certainly growing on me too, have you noticed the dimple when he smiles and the cute way his nose crinkles......I digress.

Sorry dont agree, have totally gone off Paul the way he was saying he was the best there and there was no-one to touch him just because he was bouyed up cos his was the least worse of the two ads! He is nothing but a fat pillock. I also couldnt understand why Jo was dragged yet again into the Boardroom but I suspect Ruth the badger did it to save her own skin thinking that she has been in so many times that by process of elimination she is bound to be fired one day. I think the wise old bird that is SAS saw straight through that one! I thought it was hilarious when SAS said to the pious Nick that the first film reminded him of one of his 70's porno movies, his face was a picture!!
