I could do with spending that amount on clothes myself. Apart from an odd T-shirt here and there in Peacocks i havent spent any money on clothes for almost 2 years.

Im in desperate need.

So what did you get for all that money? Was it a lot of wardrobe basics, did you spend oodles on shoes, or just a couple of expensive outfits?

Just being nosey :)

I've lost interest in buying new clothes. I can't accept that I'm going to stay a size 18 so everything I see I think it will be a waste when I've lost the weight  The only place I buy stuff lately is ebay or bootsales cos they're cheap as chips and I can chuck them away when I magically get down to a size 14

You sound just like me. I have loads of jeans and t-shirts which are too small (have been for years) but I keep thinking I`m not buying anything new as I have all these clothes to get into. Life is so unfair. I am just not the right height for my weight. Another 6" would do.

I would love to spend loads on clothes but I really need to lose a lot more weight first. It`s slow going.

Good on you Bridge. Sounds as though you have a good month

I spend it all in Next:blush: , i wish they would'nt send me the darn catologues, well i bought a black and white short jacket, 8 tops, some jewellry, new black boots, some tops for my daughter, the trouble is it back logs from the month before so you tend to lose track of how much you spend, i feel terribly guilty.

No more spending for me!

Compare it to how much you'd have spent if you smoked 20 a day! Sounds like a good haul to me...

Of course, if you do smoke, then you are f*cked:naughty:

Well, bridge my sweet, I pulled a naughty little trick the other night and will share it with you...and the rest of the board as well. Hubby gave me the Visa to order 4 hybrid Poplar trees he's been wanting and 2 sweetshrubs I've been bitching about having to plant every since we moved here in 1997. Well, off I go online to order them. Then I ordered a book for work, which I told him I was ordering. Well, then I slip over to Amazon.com and have a look see and find 2 books I feel I MUST have. They were a 'treat' to myself for the pain and suffering and trauma of just now getting to order my shrubs and plus I've been terribly down in the dumps lately and it cheered me up being bad, although it won't matter in the long run b/c he'll just say 'no biggie' but I feel like I've been quite the cheeky scamp.:naughty:

I haven't spent hardly anything on clothes the past year, I tend to make do with the old clothes that were once too small.
I did spend over £100 at next at christmas but took it all back the week after as felt it was impulse and that I did have enough going out tops to see me though. I think if you can afford to pay the bill then splashing out every so often is great therapy.
So far this year I have spent £29 on cothes.
I got a pair of jeans for £15 a sports T shirt for £6 (reduced from £15) and smart long sleeved top for £5 (reduced from £20) and the best was a summer top that was in the shop last year and is gorgeous and reduced from £20 to £12 I wanted it but they only had it in a sizes 8-12 and the 12 was too tight so I left it.
Then last month I was back in this shop looking through the bargain rails and I spotted this lovely top again but this time down to £3! One left and size 12 and I thought I wonder..... tried it on and perfect fit :applause:
Chuffed to bits with my bargains but I have seen the weight creep back on this past month and the size 14 jeans that were thrown to the back of the wardrobe have suddenly started making a comfy come back.
I'm on a mission to shed my love handles by summer so that I can wear my jeans low and my tops even lower

Hello Bridge,

I think I need slapping every now and then. A fortnight ago I went out and bought an evening dress red low cut two layers of Gossammer type material over a deep red satin with a dash of sequence flowing in style and weighted by crystal beads on the hem. I hid the reciept but on friday night just before going to do this spot of judging, I thought I should go and dress in style. I'd asked Mr M to get it out of the wardrobe and place it ready on my rail. He looked at the price as he cut it off. "Nice dress, Maureen" he shouts. "Nice price Maureen." "275 pounds." Followed by the lecture on how much I spend a year on 2 or 3 gowns, adding to my colection.

Still, he couldn't deny how much he liked it.

A man who argues with a woman is a fool.

Enjoy what you have bought you deserve it.

Maureen, is Mr. M supporting you or is it your money?? If it's your money, he should keep the lecture to himself. If it's joint money and you only spend it a few times a year, he needs to take into account what he spends on himself. I think he may need the slappin'.:glare: Just my opinion as I do not know your sitch as it is...

Hello msgirl,

The money is all mine. But whatever I spend my money on, I guarantee I will get a lecture about how wasteful I can be. Wasteful never. He only changes his tune when he sees the garments in question on. Mind you I do not like him to accompany me on shopping trips.

In fact I burst out laughing in a shop some time ago, as this lady was trying on some articles and as she had taken her man or husband with her. She came out of the changing room every now and then to be greeted by questions..Is that really what you came in for? Would you not be better leaving it till tomorrow when we've more time, to make a selection? How much did you want to spend? Really, you can't be serious that will cost $$$. Pounds.? (Now you know my computer is not rigged for stirling)

The poor woman wanted to hear from him that she looked smart and that she had chosen the right colour. But in actual fact she had taken the wrong size into the changing room. Nosey me, butted in. "You have chosen the right colour but the top is the wrong size". I said. "I've always bought a size 16 as my husband tells me I need the room", she replied. But I went on to say that was alright in say a jumper or material that was likely to be clingy on, but in a floucy femine top it was better to go for your actual size. Gaping arms with bags of extra material was actually for a bigger person. She eventually got what she wanted but the grisly wasn't very happy.

So unless your man is a cross dresser don't take him shopping.:w00t:

Well, my shrubs and trees will be in Thursday...we just now got the tractor out so hubby can auger out the holes. We measured and re-measured to make sure it is all centered and such. He's more anal than I'm obsessive!:glare: My 'treat' books came in yesterday and my work books should be here tomorrow. If not, somebody's getting a call b/c they really should have been here TODAY. Next thing is to get the summer clothes out of the attic and see what I need to add to my wardrobe. I have already bought 3 shirts and some 3/4 length jeans. Got new trainers and some really cute leather mary-jane looking shoes...I'll have to post a pic as they are hard to explain but they are FAB I tell ya!!
