View Full Version : Daft products
While I was up in Orkney this weekend I saw this in a shop
http://www.additionsdirect.co.uk/assets/Additions/L/Q/Q0971BP714.jpg
It's a stool clock!
What I want to know is - who woke up one morning and thought "I know what the world needs - a clock that you can sit on!"
Anybody got any ideas as to how this could be used? - or any other daft products?
Bonsai 27-03-2006, 06:01 PM I love, love, love that stool. I want one ... NOW.
Dolores 27-03-2006, 06:13 PM when you said stool clock ... i was thinking of another kind of stool! :pooh: silly me!
the world seems to be full of things that "must have seemed like a good idea at the time" ...usually they are on sale at Christmas time!
Rob - How much was that stool! I want a stool with a clock in! Do they deliver?
If anybody is really serious about buying the stool - I googled it to find the picture and they are available - here (http://www.additionsdirect.co.uk/AddNet/product.aspx?brand=Additions&prod_id=251509)
(Although I'm sure they were cheaper in Orkney) :p
Andrea 27-03-2006, 09:00 PM Has to be one of the daftest products I've ever seen.
A hoover cover.
Notice how there is a handy pocket in the apron for the hoover bags!

Dolores 27-03-2006, 09:02 PM I'm seeing the picture and reading the description, Andrea ... but not seeing it as daft!
...is this a sign of getting old?
PS: I also have a crinolene lady doll thing for my toilet paper ...is there any hope for me!!
I have a Goblin hoover ... are there any suitable for that?! perhaps in the shape of a sleeping dog or a slug?!

I can honestly say if I ever came across one of these I would be terrified! No seriously it would freak the hell out of me to go round someones house and see a near life size doll thing peering at me...gotta love silly phobias
Dol...no..there isn't any hope for you but that's what makes you so fab! (However...remind me never to go for a pee in your house...those things freak me out to!)
As for the clock Rob...don't think I'd like the sound of ticking beneath my bum...I'd start thinking someone had planted a bomb beneath the seat! :shocking:

Now that I can appreciate...normally I only ever get to watch the washing go round in the machine but woooo the fun I could have with one of those in the kitchen! :yahoo:
(I was kidding by the way...just in case you were thinking of buying me one for Christmas or anything)

I thought this was pretty tacky and pointless, i mean would you seriously want to display something like that?
Just found this:

'No joke, these lollies do in fact contain real creepy crawlies and what not - who could of come up with such a treat?
They come in five different flavours: Vodka Scorpion, Tequila Worm, Peppermint Ants, Blackcurrant Snake Venom and Champagne 24-carat Gold Flakes.
Each creature has been farm raised and made safe to eat, somehow - the Scorpion even had its sting removed! Although, sadly there isn't any actual alcohol in these lollies.'
Bonsai 28-03-2006, 02:59 PM PJ - didnt someone from this forum buy some of those lollies at Xmas to put in the kids stockings ???

Me too! I bought them for my neices & nephews - they still have them but apparently the nephews are going out in a few weeks time to get very drunk and then they are going to eat their lollies!!
So, is it actually real insects inside then?
Seabreeze 28-03-2006, 07:39 PM So, is it actually real insects inside then?
Yes they are real but totally edible ones. You can also get an assortment of them covered in chocolate. I have tried them and they are very tasteless..
So are these pretty popular then?
Andrea 28-03-2006, 08:07 PM Not sure PJ.
I just bought them for my nephew cause I didn't know what to get him and thought it would be a little bit of a different present.
I haven't heard whether he's eaten them or not?!?!
But my brother once ate the worm from a tequila bottle:sick:

now you see this is why i would do well in marketing! rather than highlight the fact you can watch water boil i would say how stylish and contemporary looking and yuppieish this kettle is!! move over chrome see-through kitchen appliances is where its at.

Sorry this is completely off topic but I've just had a thought - can you boil an egg in a kettle? I don't know why you want to but can you?
kookycat 29-03-2006, 07:36 PM the strange things that go through your head, perhaps tonite is the night to boil an egg in a kettle
kookycat 29-03-2006, 07:37 PM or even you could stick the contents of your pot noodle in there and eat straight out of the kettle, less washing!

Fee For All 30-03-2006, 01:25 PM How about this? Kind of defeats the object of taking the dog for a walk

Hello Andrea,
I don't think these hoover covers are daft. I know someone who has patented the idea of a girls room hanger for clothing in the shape of a doll, pull back the skirt and inside is a group of hangers. For say childrens coats, keeps them nice and neat and at the same time very decorative for a childs bedroom.
I also used to sit and make crinoline dolls, reversible rag dolls and puppets. Which probably explains why the children always bring there craft projects to me, to assist them to completion. Great fun.
