Me and hubby somehow got talking about where we used to live and I told him about when I lived in Sheffield I lived opposite this block of flats, and tried to explain to him how big and horrible it was.

Well had a look on google and the place was actually bigger than I had explained.
How on earth did I live opposite this monstrosity?!?!:wacko:

i'm looking at that block and seeing so many social and economic problems the mind boggles!

wasnt this (or a similarly sized set of flats) in the Demolition Programme at Christmas and was apparently not for demolition as it was a listed building!!!!

I'd rather have been opposite it rather than in it!

Is it really a listed building?

The big Manor House behind it looks nice!

I think the flats in the photo, Kelvin Flats they were called, have been bulldozed down.
But there were some others in the city centre and they tried to make them look better, but I dread to think what they look like now.
I think those ones are still in place.

Actually while we lived in this flat opposite, one night at 5am we got woken up by the cops, saying their had been an incident down the road and we had to evacuate.
There was a bomb scare at the garage next door to us and we spent the next 10 hours in the cop shop.
As we were being taken to the police van, I said to the copper, "Are you evactuating all that lot" pointing to the Kelvin Flats across the road.
And the copper just looked at me as if to say 'Don't ask me a stupid question like that':w00t:
