Oh I can`t wait to see this film. The first was so good I just hope it`s not like most sequels and is rubbish.

I have watched this trailer loads of times, I cannot wait to see this film! Did I tell you I am big fan of Johnny Depp! :w00t:

Keith Richards who was rumoured to appear as Jack Sparrow's dad but couldn't make the schedule.

Add me to the list of those anxiously looking out for advance previews and the like - I can't wait for this film though I sincerely hope they've seriously thought about WHY the first one was so good and made sure Mr Depp gets plenty of leeway to indulge his fabulous creation once again (and found a suitably sturdy closet to lock Mr Bloom in - it'd be a close thing as to which were more wooden:naughty: )

Hurrah - another Jack Sparrow fan :w00t:

And yes, I agree about Orlando Bloom - I can't see why he gets rated so highly.

I try to keep it hush-hush...........shhhh! ;)

Orlando was good as Legolas but he hasn't done it for me since!

If Johnny Depp plays it as good this time......which I think he will, maybe this time round he will win the Oscar that he so deserves!

Dead Man's Chest trailer.....looking good (http://www.totaleclips.com/Player/Bounce.aspx?eclipid=e27307&bitrateid=242&vendorid=566)

My only hope is that it's not one of those films where all the best bits were put in the trailer.......

No...I must keep faith with the Deppmeister, he wouldn't do that to me:laugh:...not so sure about Disney though:mad2:

Well...I went the other day and have to say for the most part I enjoyed it...however, it did drag a bit in places.

The stunts are amazing and there are a couple of real laugh out loud moments and the special effects are incredible...esspecially those used for the characters costume design...you sooo will not recognise Bill Nighy right away!

I would give it an all round rating of 3/5

I went last night - excellent film. The plot is a little bit confusing and difficult to follow sometimes. Fight scenes are great, and JD was fantastic - very funny.
There is very short "joke scene" at the very end of the credits. You have to wait until all the credits have finished, which go on and on for ages, we were the only ones left in the cinema!

I'd rate it slightly higher than Coastie - 3.5/5... or maybe even 4/5. Highly recommend you see it.

Saw it last weekend and it didn't disappoint. A little slow during the first hour and possibly a little overlong but I suspect some of the small things that didn't seem all that important will come into play with no.3.

Love the attention to detail both in the look and some of the dialogue - a good knowledge of the first one made it less confusing that it might otherwise have been.

All in all, an excellent sequel (if a little bogged down with the weight of the expectation on it) and my appetite's definitely whetted for the last one - I'll be first in the crew (sorry, queue!!).

Far and away my favourite franchise for many a long year and Jack Sparrow is undoubtedly one of the classic cinema creations of all time.

Johnny Depp just gets better and better, but Bill Nighy was good too (and still very recognisable)

I loved this too..I thought it was tremendous fun.....johnny depp ran away with it!
Keira knightly does this kind of weird grimace type thing every time she smiles and it's really offputting.I think she is trying to be sexy..but it's just all jaws and teeth.
But could'nt fault the others, ...I would give it a five out of five for pure entertainment.
It was a very 'squidgy squishy' film...was'nt it!!!!

I am going to see this next week - tell me though is it suitable for an 8 year old? I know it says 12A but Katie has seen the first one on DVD and there was nothing too shocking in it but is the 2nd one scarier?

I can't wait to see it, this film could have died on its bahookie I wouldn't care just as long as Johnny Depp is in it? Can this guy do no wrong? His acting skills are just amazing, watched him in Edward Scissorhands at the weekend - he has come along way hasn't he and everything he does is just so diverse!

And Orlando Bloom is just an added bonus!!

Bella...Mama Coastie thought it was a bit inapropriate for 12year olds but kids tend to be made of toughers stuff these days...it does have some skin crawling moments as far as Davey Jones is concerned...some of the special effects are quite horrid when it comes to the characters features onboard Davey's ship...however if your young one can handle the first one they should be okay with this...has she seen the first Lord of the Rings? It's that kind of scarey really!

Mmmm, no she hasn't seen any of the Lord of the Rings - way too scary! She's watched Star Wars though! :w00t: I am going with Mr B next week anyway so we can vet it out and if we think it is too scary she'll just have to wait until it comes out on DVD - have to say when she watched the first one she found it hilarous and the scariest part for her was at the end when Will & Elizabeth kissed - she was a bit grossed out with that! It got even a bigger ewwwwww than the skeletons!

Glad you have your priorities right Dol :applause:

I think JD is just fab. Read an interview recently when he said he tries out different character voices when he's 'playing Barbies' with his daughter. It sounded such a normal thing for such a cool icon to do, I found it quite touching.

Apparently he is one of the best autograph signers aswell...he is more than happy to wind down the window of his car to sign an autograph for a fan!

Nice chap!

I also heard that during an interview Keith Richards said that Johnny Depp had repeatedly taken him out for dinner and he was starting to wonder why when the star suddenly said...'Will you play my father in the next Pirates....film!' How cool is Pirates 3 going to be eh :applause:

It is quite scarey aswell when you hear Capt. Jack and Keith Richards...they really do sound incredibly alike...all credit to JD!

I think that is what so appealing about him, is that he is normal. His kids have normal names, he doesn't live the Hollywod lifestyle and is just so cool!

He had his wild days when he was with Kate Moss, where he trashed hotels rooms, he's done his drug phase but look at him now and look where Kate Moss is!

I love his tattoo that he got done when he was with Winona Ryder, it says Winona Forever and when they split up he got the 'n' and the 'a' removed to keep Wino Forever! Gorgeous and a huge sense of humour!

He is great with voices isn't he - Katie loves his Captn Jack Sparrow voice and when he played J M Barrie in Finding Neverland (another great movie), his Scottish accent is just spot on! If you have this DVD watch the out-takes, they are hilarous.

Watched Pirates of the Carribean Part One a couple of nights back and i thought...hmm...weeell...okay, not bad.

Not having a clue about the plot and having 'scene no seens' prior to viewing the film, i thought the best part of the movie was when the bad pirates revealed themselves as 'the dead' once they were exposed to moonlight - nice touch.

To begin with i was a bit unsure about Depp's manner of acting his character's part but once it had been revealed Sparrow had spent far too long by himself on a small island in the middle of the ocean, things became that much clearer, and i warmed to his mannerisms eventually.

I know the film is a 12 certificate, but i could swear i heard the word 'fu*k' at some point in the film. Perhaps someone can clarify whether that word does crop up at some stage, as i can't be assed watching it all over again.

Woodstock's Film Assessment

Plot: 9/20 ~ it was all over the place!

Characters: 11/20 ~ i liked Sparrow (eventually), and some of the evil pirates were okay

Cinematography: 12/20 ~ some well-shot scenes, but a film set on the oceans held much more potential

Twists: 14/20 ~ one or two nice little twists, particularly when Sparrow and his new buddy took one ship as part of an extended plot to commandeer a much better one, and of course the pirates transforming into zombies and skeletons added a little something extra to the overall adventure

Was almost amazed to notice that The Office's Mackenzie Crook was one of the bad pirates, though i thought the fork in the eyeball was a bit harsh...

Still, looking forward to the sequel.

brilliant absolutely brilliant.

we've just been to see it tonight.

Johnny is FABULOUS, Orlando is FABULOUS, Keira is OKish to start with and ends up nearly fabulous.

I loved every blooming second of it ... although I was rather nervous coming home on the ferry in the dark! scary!!

I took my sisters to see the film after I had already watched it with friends. We waited for the joke seen at the end we too were the only ones in the cinema. I didn't find it worth waiting for but I thoroughly enjoyed winding up the cinema cleaners who wanted to clear us out

Loved it, loved it, loved it! Johnny Depp was magnificent as usual and I thought Jack Davenport played a brilliant part this time round.

Really enjoyed the cliffhanger at the end but got fed up waiting for the extra scene at the end of the film - Jeez, I would not have liked to have been the chef for a crew that size!!!

Cannot wait until World's End comes out in May, already marking the dates in my calender!

I loved every blooming second of it ... although I was rather nervous coming home on the ferry in the dark! scary!!

Not surprised you were nervous Dol, when we were coming home along the shore line huge black clouds were looming over the sea and there was an electrical storm going on! Very scary!

My wife and I have differing views on this. I prefer POTC1 to POTC2 and she the other way round.

I actually saw POTC1 after seeing POTC2 - It was the fact that the original trailers I saw for POTC1 seemed to make it out to be a serious film so I decided to give it a miss.

Yes, it doesn't have that great a plot, but JD plays Sparrow really well, and the other characters do their job.

I find more nowadays that the soundtrack does a lot to improve or make a film worse and Klaus Badelt's soundtrack to the first movie is superb, and Hans Zimmer does an equally good job in the sequel (it's just a shame these people don't get as much credit as they deserve - though HZ was a member of The Buggles [Video Killed the Radio Star] ). I'd definitely put HZ up there with John Williams as the two greatest composers still alive.

Keith Richards is playing JD's dad in the third one! :w00t:

Aparently, according to an interview with KR...JD kept inviting him out for dinner and so Keith being Keith went along thinking it was all very nice. Little did he realise JD was doing research for his role as Capt. Jack and then after the first film JD invited Keith out again and asked Keith to play his dad in POC 3...very exciting.
