View Full Version : Poseidon
bridge 07-06-2006, 04:00 PM Went to see this last night, am glad i did'nt listen to the bad reviews because i thought it was quite good, action, adventure and great special effects, only downside was it was a bit too sentimental in parts which kind of spoilt it.
And the hero of the film Dylan was lush (sigh) Kurt Russell has gone really skinny though.
Oh and that girl from the Black Eyed Peas was in it too.
Seabreeze 11-06-2006, 05:56 AM Seeing this next month when I go to visit daughter. Looking forward to it as I was a fan of the original. Glad you gave it a good review because people have not said good things about it and I was wondering if it was overhyped
bridge 11-06-2006, 08:09 AM Enjoy Sea.:)
Dolores 11-06-2006, 09:34 AM I quite enjoyed the trailer the last couple of times I've been to the pictures and was dismayed when I heard bad reports.
Sometimes I feel that critics have seen too many films and become jaded forgetting what the "man (or woman) on the street" wants to see.
I might make an effort to go and see it on the big screen.
I love disaster movies so naturally, I'm looking forward to this one. However, I can't help thinking it'll lack the magic of the original.

I do love Titanic but only after the ship starts sinking. Hated the whole rich girl/poor boy love story. :wallbash:

Aondeag 12-06-2006, 12:52 PM I loved the original 'the Poseidon Adventure.'You could have knocked me over with a feather at the ending.....sob.
I am looking forward to seeing this verion, hopefully this week.
(I hated Titanic tho')
:-)
incidently..I am trying to recall a film i saw many years ago, set on a cruise ship, involving stranded passengers, and creepy goings on.
It had to do with some evil Egyptian artifact that was brought on board a luxury cruise ship, and it was EVER so creepy.Murders, mayhem etc.The passengers began suspecting each other and it got very messy. In the end I think it was because the Devil was on board.Woooooooooo
Just wondering if it rings any bells with anyone.
Thanks.

Cruise Into Terror
A pleasure cruise ship is carrying an Egyptian artifact, but this is no ordinary artifact --- this is a sarcophagus that contains the son of Satan!!! Guess what? That evil menace begins to affect the passengers and true mayhem ensues.

I saw it years ago..in my aunts house when I was just a child. And it scared the living daylights out of me!!!!!...but i want to see it again now.
I think I could handle it.
In to the IFC (fancy cinema with video shop) for me later today.
:-)
Coastie 13-06-2006, 10:12 AM I'm too big a fan of the original and so am not bothered about seeing the remake (I was so dissapointed with King Kong amongst other OTT remakes) :bored:

Omg - I've seen that! I'm sure it's the same one you're on about. Wasn't it the sarcophagus of Tutankhamun (sp?) that was on the ship and it was supposed to be cursed? Apparently it was a true story...
Aondeag 13-06-2006, 12:02 PM OH no! A true story.....:ghost: shudder.
Don't say that...not to superstitious old me!
Seabreeze found it for us...it's a film called 'cruise into terror' and it must be one of those 'made for tv' type films.
I would like to see it again............................
Aondeag 16-06-2006, 12:31 PM Hi..Here I am agian...off topic in a 'still on topic' kind of way.
Did anyone ever see a film called 'Goliath Awaits'?
I think it was one of those made-for-tv type movies, but I LOVED it too.
A ship had capsized back in the 30's or 40's I think, and years later some divers or marine archaeologists or the like, came upon the ship at the bottom of the ocean.BUT...they hear sounds from inside...music and stuff...and dancing, and discover a whole load of survivors alive and well and dancing away! The passengers had managed to live on in a weird underwater type utopia.
It was bizzare. The captain of the ship did not want to be rescued..for some reason.
I wonder does anyone else remember it?
Seabreeze 16-06-2006, 03:09 PM It sounds kinda familar but not quite sure. Sounds really good though and would love to see it now.
