The teams in Group A (Germany, Ecuador) will never know what lays in waiting for them, but Sweden and England will. All games from groups A and B ought to be played simultaneoulsy if it is going to done with genuine fairness, but alas, it's not, and although England would prefer to face Ecuador, it really does look like we shall be playing the Germans in the Second Phase...:unsure: But all it takes to avert that likelihood is for Germany to beat Ecuador (1-0 would suffice) - and they could easily achieve that.

It's all ifs and buts and the only way to look at it is if England cannot beat the Germans then they were never as good as what we projected them to be in the first place.

We've beaten them 5-1 in recent years, and i think England are at least two goals better than the German side anyway. It would be an easy enough passage into the Q-Finals...he sez!:unsure:

Well you've raised a good one there. I'm now hoping Equador win or draw because as you say it will be interesting seeing England trying not to win without making it look like that's what they're doing!

Lets hope Germany win, then the prize in the other group is a next round game against Ecuador and the England Sweden game will be fantastic.

I think Germany will know this too and recognise they need to win so England go all out to avoid them. Neither team (Germany or England) wants to play each other that soon, every game against slightly weaker opposition is another training game for the later games against the big boys, lets hope it works out.
