I've had what I think is a good bet today, I've bet on Brazil and Argentina to be in the final, at odds of eight to one. Do you think I got a good price, or do you have other ideas of which two teams are most likely to be facing each other in the last match?

I think that could be a very canny bet, Dave. The Argies looked unbeatable in yesterday's match, which I saw today and you would never write off Brazil.

That seems like very good odds. I can see them shortening very rapidly, too.

That seems about right to me, and those are teriffic odds!

Spain, Italy, Holland, and perhaps Germany are other highly-fancied teams but i'd bank on it being an all-South American myself.

Right...i'm off to put fifty grand on said bet. Eight to flippin' one! - always a great idea to take advantage of a betting-shop misprint!

Now he tells me! Serously though, I have put a mere tenner on it, and I won't be too disappointed if it doesn't happen, but for now it has given me a little extra interest in the tournament.

I still think it's a fair price though - it's like saying that if the tournament was played nine times from this stage, the chances are that Brazil and Argentina would reach the finals once, the other eight times would produce a different pairing.

Secrets do you think that's an unreasonable assessment, do you think there's a weakness with Brazil or Argentina that makes those odds too short?

Spain and Brazil have looked the most convincing so far...IMHO:good:

Well that was until France put paid to them - I fancied Spain too but the French just has the edge and I think they maybe the better team to face Brazil.

As for the final, I really don't know - Germany although an extremely boring team to watch get the job done and they could just do it against Argentina. Either one of these teams will be in the final with possibly Brazil but then France, England or Portugal could really give the Brazilians a run for their money!

I was ever so slightly peeved to see the French win I have to say :mad2:

Brazil still in there and well hmmmmmm...I have to have a serious re-think but I hope it's not Portugal!

it'll be the winners of the Germany-Argentina game against Brazil...

...no doubt about it!

I don't think there has ever been a Brazil vs. Argentina World Cup final and i think that it would be teriffic to see those two fighting it out for the trophy.

I think Germany v England would be a classic World Cup final. Given the lack of success by South American teams when the World Cup is in Europe I don't think Brazil will make it all the way especially if they persist with Ronaldo.

He may be the all time highest goal scorer in the World Cup but he is still weigh to heavy and his lack of movement will make it easier for an experienced centre back to mark him out of the game.

Point one ~ agreed...now at least anyway (...wanted an Argentina v Brazil)

Point deux ~ i think that's already happened in at least three of the four Brazil matches so far in this tournament...have you ever known Ronaldo to be speedy gonzalez??

Nah, we had that already in 1966!

I feel like a complete hypocrit saying this as i am always slagging off football/footballer's but i have found myself watching England play in the football world cup ,i love it when the players fake their injuries,i have got caught up in all the excitement.

i still think they are all a bunch of pansys but good game, good game.
