Hello Caz,

The smilies appear when you use quote post bar and post reply. Other than that if you use quick reply smilies won't become an option, to get them from this point select at the bottom of your post 'go advanced'.

In the Options section check you have not disabled smilies as this could also be why they don't appear in your text.
