There is an advert on TV by L'Oreal, and it advertises two face creams for men. One is to make tired skin look less tired, and the other is a face cream with a tanning element to it.

Now, i watch these adverts wondering if men would / do actually use beauty products.

From my point of view i like men to look and behave like men, and that doesnt involve having a beauty routine that rivals my own.

So men, are you into beauty and would you willingly buy a mens moisturiser ? Women - would you mind if your man popped into Boots and spent £20 on a couple of beautifying products ?

I think men have as much right to moisturise as women!

But excessive grooming puts me right off and also the constant mirror glancing and men who need constant reassurance that they look marvellous, or don't look their age etc etc ...most boring!

actually ditto the above for women.

They are advertising on our local radio station about some men's products by L'Oreal or summut and how if you'll go to Walgreens they'll have a 'cosmectic specialist' show the line and give any instructions...blah, blah. Sounds like a mans line of make up to me!!:bag:

I sometimes use cologne or scented soap/gel.
I have too little hair to worry about so don't have that issue.
I consider my appearance without fussing over it.
I like my clothes and shoes to reflect me.

Absolutely nothing, and thats my point. I like a man to take care of himself, but not to spend more time looking in the bathroom mirror than me :wink_kiss

I have no problem at all with anyone buying whatever products they want to feel better about themselves. Men's skin takes a much much more sever battering than women's, so really, they have more need of moisturising treatments than women.

Imagine having to shave your face everyday (or perhaps you already do :bag: ). Your skin would be in a terrible state. If there's a product out there that helps you out, go buy it.

Cockers has sensitive skin and does sometimes break out in a facial rash, so he uses stuff to heal it. Whether that's a girly women's product or one specifically designed for men doesn't really matter.

Cosmetic companies would have you believe that their new men's ranges are specially designed for male skin, but I suspect that's all ********, it about getting more money out of you, but in the meantime, if your man wants to look better and feel better, that's got to be a good reflection on you too?

But my husband has that problem too ... and he uses E45 cream when he gets a 'flare up'. Thats normal isnt it. If you are suffering you fix it.

I don't see what's wrong with a bit of fake tan or anti-aging cream on anyone, man or woman.

If I'm allowed to spend our cash on grooming products, I've got no problem with him doing the same if he wants.

My fake tan (if I had one) would look more authentic if he was also looking bronzed, that way it'd look like we'd both come back from holiday recently :sun: .

Men suffer with the aging process too, they can hit 40 and have a mid-life crisis. I'd rather Cockers laid out some cash on hydropolyceranutimides or whatever the latest breakthrough product is, than run off with a 19 year old or buy a sports car.

I'm not into the whole grooming thing either. I get up, brush the wallies, have a wash, have a shave, do my hair (usually gel or wax) and that's about it. I do wear aftershave though. Nowt wrong with wanting to smell nice.
Also, quite often I have to moisturise my face because I have very dry skin and if I don't I will look all scabby and flakey for the rest of the day.
And that's about it.

I KNOW SOMEONE (Peej, possibly...) will come up with something hootin' hilarious to say about the Mississipians BUT my bunch and I are very meticulous shower takers!! Hubby: at least 1-2 per day, me: 2 per day, ESPECIALLY if I work and don't want child mutation funk on me!!, msboy #1: 2 per day...teen-ager ya know, msboy #2: has to be threatened most nights but is very fastidious in his cleaning!!

Does anyone brush their teeth while in the shower?? I do this, have done this since I was a child, (my Dad was NAVY and I think I got it from him) and it DRIVES Mr. Ms crazy!! I just cannot get out of the shower w/o having brushed my teeth!!! I am strange and I do have OCD...but I know SOMEONE SOMEWHERE does this as well!!
