Me too, Bons! Oh, I'm glad someone else saw it. I didn't really know what to expect, but it had such good reviews I felt I should give it a go.

The performances were really subtle, but also very strong.

Loved the bit on the cross-trainer, which actually made me LOL and that doesn't happen much these days.

Wild Hogs - Not a film you have to think about but it`s one to just sit back and have a good laugh 7/10

Alpha Dog - Bit of a slow beginning for me but turned out to be a really good film 7/10

The Fog - Terrible remake and one I won`t be watching again 3/10

This weeks viewing...

At home:
Sole Survivor - didn't get it... 1/10
Collateral - Just love it! 10/10

At the cinema:
The Perfect Stranger - Bruce Willis & Halle Berry - Crime THriller - kinda had it sussed but it was still quite clever in parts... 7/10

The Shooter - Mark Wahlberg (yummy body) - Conspiracy - bit dissapointing on the whole but good to see Danny Glover back on the big screen... 6/10

Unknown - Jim Caveziel (lovely eyes) - Crime/Mystery/Thriller - I rather enjoyed this intriguing little number with well known but not huge stars... 8/10

Next week I shall be going to see Fracture - Anthony Hopkins & Ryan Gosling :good:

Fracture - New Anthony Hopkins/Ryan Gosling crime thriller - not bad but a tad predictable - 6/10

The Painted Vail - Edward Norton and some actress woman - not my usual cup of tea as it is a period drama but it has Edward Norton in so I had to go. I was disapointed and a tad bored - 4/10

I watched 'This is England' the other day at the cinema...it's based on the writers experiences in the 80's when he was 'adopted' into a skin head gang. It was excellent and the girls were dressed in that good old Boy George stylee etc...the fashion and music took me back it did :bag:

I watched "The Queen" and "Children of Men" this weekend. I kinda didn't get the hubaloo of "The Queen", although Hellen Mirren was good...and "C O M" was just so abrupt...did they find the group...did the girl make it...what was the deal?? Clive was scrummy though!!:sun:

I've had a bit of a filmtastic weekend actually (for "filmtastic" sustitute "boring"!!)

Anyhoo started off with The Entertainer - Laurence Olivery which was very watchable but way too many loose ends and not enough pathos to satisfy a melodrama (imho!) and his daughter looked old enough to be his wife (as I beleive she was in real life). Good film though and always interesting to see the background in old black and white films - in this film there were scenes of Brighton in the 1960s - very quaint!

ALso watched something called "Walking Tall" or something like that starring The Rock - obviously my son's choice - still you have to indulge them sometimes don't you! absolute crap - although it could have been very good - basic storyline (based on true story apparently): good guy comes back to home town after being away in army; town's gone bad and has corrupt sherrif in charge; good guy runs for sherrif; gets made sherrif and stomps out the corruption. It was so poorly exeucted it was unreal - about 1 minute spent running for election and getting elected and the rest of the film mashing bad guys with a base ball bat!!

Then we watched Hitch - lightweight comedy with a silly plot line - but hey it did have Will Smith in it - THE most handsome man in films surely!

Today I watched the Aviator with Leonardo Dicaprio - I know some people here don't rate him but I thought he was very good in the role. It was a long film and only took us up to him being about the age of 35 - I'd like to have seen him sitting in his room with long finger nails, long hair surrounded by bottles and bottles of pi$$ ... oh well!

I watched Hellraiser one and two ..... safely viewed from behind a cushion.

I also saw 'the break up' with Vince Vaughn and Jennifer Aniston. It was quite good TBH. It certainly passed a few hours.

The i watched 'Pleasantville' with Tobey Maguire and Reese Witherspoon. This was very well done - and i enjoyed it, although it went on for too long.

Zodiac - at the cinema - doesn't warrant it's own thread - a huge dissapointment. Had allot of potential but simply didn't deliver. Basically it tells the stories of the lives effected by the Zodiac killer who was running around during the 60's and 70's in California...they never caught him but are pretty sure who it was.

The Cruel Sea - excellent film

Knocked Up

Went to see it expecting a formulaic, cheesy RomCom but it was actually a lot better than I expected. A lot of good jokes which made the audience laugh out loud, especially the one-liners. It's not something I would normally have chosen, but it did make me laugh and it did make me think. A good entertaining movie.

7/10

1408

It starts off really well and I was filled with anticipation - expecting a classic, well thought out horror.

By the end of the first hour and some faintly ridiculous and over wrought nightmare sequences I was ready to laugh out loud at the absurdity of it all.

A missed opportunity. However, I will admit that I find a lot of Stephen King's work rather silly.

We went to see The Bourne Ultimatim or is it Ultimatum.....anyway, action-packed, good storyline and Matt Damon (although he did look very weary in this one), had everything a good film should have. The first one was the best but I enjoyed all three of them! I am definitely going to buy the box-set. Matt Damon has done so much better than his counterpart............omg, he is such a nobody now, I have forgotten his name, the one that was going to marry Jenny from the block, you know who I mean.

He has done some seriously dodgy movies too, I mean what the heck what Vanilla Sky all about and Eyes Wide Shut!

as an actor I've always rated Mr Cruise - well in the films I've seen - never seen Eyes Wide Shut or Vanilla Sky. Even in Top Cruise which was a turgid pile of crap (come on Bella admit it!) he raised everyone's game.

I loved him in Rainman, A Few Good Men, Born on the 4th July - heck I even enjoyed Far and Away - despite the dodgy accents (and let's face it they were ALL dodgy not just Tom's!).

but as a sex thimble - nah - just can't see it. my mum can though which scares me a bit I have to say!!

Watched The Queen last night, Helen Mirren was fantastic and thorougly deserved her Oscar. Loved the digs at the Blairs with Cherie shouting through to Tony (in his football shirt) to tell him that his fish fingers were ready!

One of my friends said that the way they portrayed The Queen Mother as spot on, as she was indeed a twisted old bat who did look down her nose at those below her, although she played the sweet, loving old lady when the time needed. My friend's mum worked at Holyrood Palace and when QM came to stay, she was snotty and downright rude and made sure that the staff knew their place!

I felt the film did show the other side to that awful week, like how on earth do you tell two little boys that their mother has been killed and that their lives are never going to be the same? It was quite sad but the acting was brilliant but surely they could have got a British Actor to play Prince Phillip??

Big explosion in a western compound in Saudi Arabia aka the Kingdom kills a hundred people or so. FBI team is sent over to investigate but the Saudis are reluctant hosts. FBI form a frienship with a couple of local police. Investigation goes ahead...blahdi, blahdi blah...

More than a little predictable but I just love Chris Cooper and hold Jamie Foxx in high regard so it had to be done...they weren't exactly stretched at all but...

Went to see Attonement at the cinema at the weekend.

Don't bother - it wasn't very good. You need to have read the book for it to make much sense, and although I have read the book (and really enjoyed it), Mr Figgs hadn't and bluddy hated the film. Whinged all the way through it and I could see his point.

Having said that, I am quite into James McAvoy (who stars) ever since I saw him in The Last King of Scotland, which IS a very good film.

Avoiding Atonement as I know I will nod off...

However...

Michael Clayton - 6/10 - bit of a disapointment really...I was waiting for it to go somewhere...anywhere in fact...and it never really did!

Cultish Irish horror about a cow farmer discovering a genetically engineered mutant herd is being bred on his farm. No really. Good effort all round, but lacking a bit, setting a wee bit dark and grimy and the directing was a wee bit gritty. Maybe needed a bit more gloss.

No Country for Old Men - could have been better given it's pedigree and had a really odd ending...

P.S. I Love you - everyone should see his film...girls take tissues!

I'm looking forward to seeing: In the Valley of Elah - this week!

I like Hindi films very much. I saw "Devadas" in last. My favorite hero Sharukh Khan played important role in this film. Songs of this film is very good.

Just watched flood yesterday and thought it seemed a bit to real.

Climate change and the weather playing havoc in various parts of Britain.

Although I guess I must know nothing about that is well.

All About Eve. Never seen it all the way through (very long film, very bad cold).

Bloody marvellous it was. 10/10

Also Rocky Balboa. Same cold and the film wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. 7/10
