I would like to introduce you all to Bella. A long while ago 'our' Bella asked me to call our next dog after her .... so we have obliged.

This is the best piccie we have at the moment as we only collected her about 2hrs ago.

She is a sweetie, and Bailey has been brilliant with her and has been sharing his toys. Hopefully they will become good playmates.

The 'Zoo' is definately growing. We now have two dogs, three cats, Billy the Tortoise and the fish.

She is a poppet, and hasnt had an little accidents in the house .... yet.

Bailey is soooo not impressed though. We got Bella so Bailey would have company during the day. He is always trying to play with the cats, but they are old ... and, well they hate dogs !!! We have a massive garden that Bailey romps around in, and i thought it would be good for him to have a playmate. Alas he sees her as a pest and his nose is well and truly put out of joint (especially because she keeps nicking his favourite blanket).

He is getting tonnes of cuddles though so he doesnt feel left out - and im hoping he will come around soon.

She is lovely, and walks around permanently glued to my ankles

Thanks guys, and yeah the head wrinkles are something else arent they. Oh and Patsy, thanks for the offer but - urmmmm NO

TE - no, we wont be breeding. Bailey is going in to have his balls off shortly - just incase he gets any naughty thoughts.

I tell you, im too old for this puppy malarky. If i EVER mention the words "im thinking of getting another puppy" - someone shoot me :gunsmilie .

She is such a handful. She has razor teeth, loves eating my hair, has sharp claws and big paws. She is playful, bouncy and loves attacking me and her big brother !!

She is cute though, but god, she is wearing me down a tad. Im looking forward to the weekend when i can hopefully rest.

On Tuesday she went to the vets and got micro chipped, wormed, flea'd and checked over (and was declared perfect). We are trying to master the art of the dog flap ... and she is sussing it out fairly quickly. She has only had 3 accidents in the house - and only one anywhere other than the kitchen floor which is easy to wipe.

From 9pm onwards i have to wear her out and wake her up if she is asleep - which she doesnt appreciate. If i dont play for at least 2hrs she wont sleep through the night. Im having to get up with Mr.B at 5:45am which is when he gets up so i can go outside with her to do her business .... and then i try and wear her out again till i go to work at 8:40am. I need more sleep

She hates being shut in the kitchen / lobby, and will cry and bark .... but im ignoring her as she has to learn that at night and when i go to work she has to be put away. I recall Bailey used to cry when shut away, but after a while he learn that he got a biscuit and fuss when he was good.

Crickey - when do they start maturing .... im sure Bailey wasnt this bad.

But hey - she is a cutie, and she gives very nice cuddles.

Thought i would give you an update (whether you want one or not).

Bella is beautiful, playful, affectionate and ginger (is that a plus  ). But i cant seem to sort out the toilet training.

I am doing everything right, and she is weeing in the back garden when i take her outside - which is about every 30 mins. I give her heaps of praise when she goes but she is a walking wee machine, and can p*ss about 100 times a day.

But when im not there, she insists on peeing in the lobby which is off the kitchen. I dont know why, as she flys in and out of the dog flap (also in lobby) - but if im not there to hold her paw she wont take herself outside to wee.

My lobby stinks. Every evening i wet vac it - and yet it still smells. Unfortunately its carpet with wooden floorboards so the pee has leaked to the wood.

I dont understand it. Mr.B wont let me use newspaper as the breeder used paper to encourage the pups to wee in the litter tray ... and Mr.B thinks the smell of the paper makes her pee indoors. I have tried training pads which she just rips up. Im now thinking of tethering her to an outside tree during the day

Last night it did get me down. After three weeks of pee patrol .... ive kinda had enough

We always favoured the whack-on-the-nose-with-a-rolled-up-paper, followed by the drop-kick-through-the-door method :good:

Just remembered - you can get animal-nasty-smell neutraliser at those places that rent out steam cleaners - might help with the carpet.

Viszlas are excellent dogs, I'm sure she'll keep you busy!

What breed is Bailey and how old? And has he taken to Bella yet?

Can't remember exactly because I was quite young, but when we got our pup we put paper down in our living room and got her used to peeing there (where we could see/help/encourage her), then we put it in the kitchen (closer to outside) and finally outside... once she got used to the idea of p!ss where the paper is she was fine... and when it's taken away she'll p!ss and sh!t away in the garden! (But all dogs are different)

Good luck with it!

Oh yes, she is indeed keeping me busy. Its her first walk next Monday, and i need to get her a cute collar. I want a pink one with diamonte studs .... Mr.B wont let me though :bag:

Bailey is a springer spaniel, and he is about 1yr 8 months old. They do get on brilliantly ... although she permanently sits on him like he is giving her a piggy back. They play fight now though which is kinda funny to watch. Its all ears and legs - and they play really nicely. No teeth.

Im taking Bella to the vets again tonight (I tell you, ill soon have my own private parking space there i go so often).

I dont know if im being silly, but Bella drinks and drinks and drinks .... which would explain the trouble we are having with toilet training.

I keep wondering if she has a temperature too as her undercarridge is always hot and a little sweaty. Maybe im just noticing it more than Bailey though as her belly is bald ... whereas his was hairy.

Someone told me yesterday that maybe she has a little infection hence the excessive drinking. She gets through about 4 water bowls a day.

So i thought it best to get her checked out. It could be nothing - but i have checked the Vizsla websites and nowhere does it say they are excessive drinkers.
