View Full Version : I want a Wii!!
Minklemar 21-12-2006, 04:33 PM I've seen the adverts for the Nintendo Wii and I want one.
I had a Playstation and loved it, then I got an X-Box and was seriously disappointed with it....don't like the X-Box at all - the only think I use it for now is watching DVD's.
The Wii looks like great fun - unfortunately everywhere seems to be sold out so I'm going to have to wait until the Nee Year to get one.
Has anyone here got one already?
La Freak 21-12-2006, 05:20 PM My daughter ordered one when they were first mentioned, hoped to get it in time for Xmas, but now it looks like she will have to wait for sometime next year, the demand has been so high.
I am narked, I wanted to play it too! :(
Patsy 21-12-2006, 05:41 PM I posted a similar thread recently, Minks, because I was thinking of getting one for the kids for Christmas. I've heard that the graphics on the games aren't great - apparently Microsoft's are much better. I'm sure Nintendo will come up some better games and the WiiII will probably be much better, but I'm waiting until I know more people who've had them before I think of getting one for the boys.
We too are on the Wii hunt. The boys are very keen on it as is Mr B. But you can't get one til January at least now and then it is mostly only if you have already pre ordered one.
Critique 21-12-2006, 06:22 PM I thought I saw them in Asda last week when we popped over there. Could be wrong though - I just noticed the name on the boxes and wondered how you pronounced it. Is it pronounced "wee". Perhaps they'd just come in, probably all gone now :(
littlemissbig 21-12-2006, 06:29 PM I saw the advert for one and it looked weird. It does look like you would get alot of exercise but it does make you look really silly.
Minklemar 21-12-2006, 06:35 PM I've heard that the graphics aren't as good on the Wii as the Playstation and X-Box.......but I really like the idea of your movements being echoed on the screen.
It's not a bad price at £179 either I thought.....
I've looked at the Tesco, Argos and Toys r us websites and you can't pre-order at any of them......so it seems that the only way to get one is to be lucky enough to turn up somewhere that's just had a delivery.
Patsy 21-12-2006, 08:43 PM The price of £179 would probably be without games and some of the kit, as far as I can remember from my research.
You're looking at more like £250. If I were you, I'd get an I-Toy and wait for the hullaballoo to die down.
Coastie 22-12-2006, 08:04 AM I think there's something a little creepy about the guy in the Wii adverts who plays the shooting and sword games...he seems to enjoy the death of his opponents a bit two much!
Does anyone else think that the shooting up games and generally violent games on this games consule are a little too close to reality for comfort...I mean it's one thing to press a button and kill someone but quite another psyche to physically swing a sword or point a gun and see a head lopped off etc. I don't like it...I think it's juts a little to real for comfort and have, probably and irrational, fear that more youngsters will be desensitised to death and killing as a result.
Bonsai 22-12-2006, 08:24 AM I too fancy one of these. Mr.B and I have talked about getting one, but i have heard that you need a large room to play with them ... especially for the sword fighting or tennis games. I dont know if we will be restricted in our lounge !!

I-Toy? I've not heard of that - I think I need to go and do a bit of research!!
Thanks Patsy - I'm off to investigate
I really want one of these too. I can't think of a better time-waster. When Miss PJ and I get a fl;at next year i will definately be getting one of these (of course, she doesn't know this yet...)
Figaro 28-12-2006, 10:44 AM I heard a report on the radio the other week about concerns that people may injure themselves with the Nintendo Wii.
Its quite a physical game, but because its target market is the "couch potato" there are worries that many people who buy these games will suffer from pulled muscles and strains as the toy will force them to do more strenuous exercise than they are used to.
BTW - I've just read this back and realised that some people might take it the wrong way. I'm not suggesting that anyone who has posted on this thread is a "couch potato".

I give you and Miss Pj about six months if you get one of these PJ! don't do it! get a dishwasher instead - much more useful!
