I was expecting some Jackiey charicature and an old past-it cockney geezer that would both make Jade and her mum look like royalty but I was pleasantly surprised. They both seemed very nice and well mannered didn't they? So where the hell did Jackiey come from?
Did anyone else detect a note of resentment between Jackiey and her parents as if they don't have the best relationship in the world? Just the way Jackiey kept saying "I don't care I don't care" when they were talking about her farting. Also, when her dad said he'd give her a clip round the ear she just stared at him and said "But you're not brave enough to do that now, are you?"

I was expecting the worst too, but they seemed very salt of the earth people. Jade's grandfather sounded just like Del Boy's grand-dad in 'Only Fools & Horses'.

They reminded me of Dot and Jim Branning off Eastenders  Shilpa liked them (or said she did).

It was a lovely meal and great tv - "dutch oven" anyone? You can see where Jade gets some of her qualities (I like Jade). Shilpa was in hysterics and it must have been weird for Jerm-shamon-aine to see a relatively normal family have a meal

It’s a shame Ken walked, he and Jade’s granddad may have had a lot in common, being the same age. But having dealt with the Devils, Ken couldn’t cope with the Goodys.

Whatever the beef is between Jackiey and her parents (or most particularly her father), Jade seemed very stiff with them too.

My impression is that grandad might be a salt of the earth geezer now but I bet he was a hard task master when his kids were young. The way they continually mocked and took the **** out of Jackie made me think they have a lot to answer for.

I agree Max.
I think beneath the old gruff, humourous grandpa is a bloke thats a bit handy with his fists.
When he threatened to punch Jackiey on the nose she answered, "Yeah, but you're not brave enuf to do that nahh, are ya???" and stared at him hard.
I thought hmmmmm lots of underlying tension there.
Shilpa was way way over the bloody top. Her near hysteria was a complete puzzlement.
Saying all that, the grandparents came over well.
