View Full Version : Ian aka "H"
Dolores 15-01-2007, 08:48 PM ... well what a surprise this chap has turned out to be.
and what an impassioned diary room speech he gave tonight regarding the victimisation of Shilpa and his feelings on bullying. I was moved, moved I tell ya!
Go Ian! now officially in my top four!
As much as it pains me to say it, he was spot on tonight regarding the antics of Jade and Danielle.
maxine 16-01-2007, 06:27 AM Well at least I got one of my first impressions right - Ian is sweet - although I'm not sure a man of his years would want to be called sweet, but, no matter, he is. I felt his reaction was completely genuine and not for the cameras.
I do think its a shame that no one actually sticks up for Shilpa to the other HMs, though.

that's the thing isn't it. If one of the fence sitters actually said something maybe told them all together what they think is happening and how it looks then maybe something would change. as long as Shilpa keeps up the sympathy card and the other three keep up the constant bitching this is all we are going to see on the highlights!
The fence sitters (Cleo and H in particular) are actually prolonging the persecution.
floopy 16-01-2007, 07:41 AM Jeez, so many people with so many issues. Both Cleo and Ian know that bullying is taking place and neither or them have it in them to stop it. Cleo has a total inability to deal with conflict of any kind, and Ian's obviously been damaged by bullyin gin the passt and isn't prepared to go there again.
How hard would it be for one of them to just say "Oi, lay off Shilpa, you're ganging up on her and making her life hell. Leave it out"?
Actually, the person who finally stood up and did that would probably end up winning the whole show, so what's to lose?
Pandora 16-01-2007, 08:07 AM I, too, was quite touched by H's concern last night. He was very articulate in the diary room and almost, but not quite, said the word racist.
Give him his dues though, when Danielle called Shilpa "a dog"..... H said straight away that it was a nasty thing to say and unnecessary.
To me, Cleo is the one that sits on the fence the most, H is now just steering clear.
Bonsai 16-01-2007, 08:34 AM I too loved his speech in the diary room last night ... and i think he might go on to win this now.
IsLe Of WeAtHeR 16-01-2007, 10:29 AM Sorry but i just though what a big sissy. another gay man on BB being a woman and crying. plus ca change.
nemish 16-01-2007, 07:37 PM I originally thought he was a bit of a boring wimp, but his diary room speech has changed my opinion - good for him! I don't blame him for not confronting them directly, either - they'd tear him to bits!
another gay man on BB being a woman and crying. .
I may be mis-reading what you've said here, IOW, and I hope I have.
Are you saying that all men who cry in this manner are acting like women?
And with regards Ian, I was expecting to be irritated by him, but i'm not. He comes across as having the best intentions at heart, and just wants to see everyone have a good time.
Repetition 17-01-2007, 12:48 AM Before he went into the diary room he'd been talking to Shilpa about the terrible trio in the garden. It seemed to me that what he was effectively saying was "They're picking on you and it's horrible. It's upsetting ME!" He barely looked at her all the time he was talking to her.
Personally... I think what he's REALLY upset about is that he's just become aware of his own cowardice. He's aware of what's going on but is too spineless to say anything to them.
IN the DR.... yep.. he did say it was "almost like bullying" (No "almost" about it, Ian)... but also said he liked "both sides" and that Jade is a "lovely girl". He acknowledges that she's a bully.... yet calls her "lovely".
Essentially then, he's just trying to justify - to himself, Shilpa and viewers - his decision not to say anything to the trio. Sorry, mate... there is no justification.

no, I am saying its another atypical Gay BB man who cries at the drop of a hat, hangs around with the girls and acts like a big sissy. plus ca change.
Pandora 17-01-2007, 01:39 PM Ian said in the diary room that he had been bullied unmercifully at school and that it was bringing back a lot of very nasty memories.
He HAS actually taken Danielle to task. When she called Shilpa a dog, Jo burst out laughing. H sat stony faced and said, "that wasnt necessary, and it was nasty"........ Jo immediately backtracked and said to Danielle "you shouldnt have said that"...
I like H, for the simple reason he comes across as a genuinely nice guy. He doesnt have the type of personality to wade in, yell in Jade's face and tell her she is out of order, and to be honest what good would that do anyway? Jade thinks she is in the right and would defend her own actions and attitude to the very end.
Shilpa, in Jo, Jade and Danielle's mind, is to blame for everything. Im just surprised they havent blamed her for the sinking of the Titanic yet.
There again, the show isnt over yet.....

Thanks for clarifying :)
I do agree, many of the gay men in Big Brother are beginning to merge into one another.
Dan being a refreshing exception I must add.
maxine 21-01-2007, 09:22 AM I don't know if anyone else has noticed but Ian has got a habit, perhaps a nervous one, of kind of gulping when he speaks. I wonder if he had a stutter at some point.

This guy has been all round the world and he has no idea where NORFOLK is - i could not believe my ears
what kind of things go on in his head, how many times must that area have cropped up in conversation and in the news and he just pictures a blank. :shocking:
that is, for me, worse than any fake racism or bullying. the guy has to go. (with a map)

Havent noticed that Maxine, but he is constantly putting lip balm on, must like to have soft lips. I dont mind him actually, he is quite an inoffensive little chap:ohmy: .

He's also got a weird little jerky head flick going on, as if he is trying to flick hair out of his eyes (that isnt there).
However he seems pleasant enough.
