Slipper 16-01-2007, 11:29 AM The point is that 2000+ people have complained - 1800 in the last 12 hours. Now what may be snide bitchy comments to you might be seen as racist by others. You may have missed something that was broadcast last night or thismorning. I presume you do not spend your time watching every single second that is broadcasted Buzz 16-01-2007, 11:51 AM Whilst I in no way condone racism in any form, I have to ask the question...on the edit last night Shilpa was seen to take the pi$$ out of the way Jo said the word 'whale', she stated she could not understand what Jo was saying, and later sat with Dirk and Jermain laughing about it and mimicking her. How many people will ring and complain about this? Punkyfish 16-01-2007, 11:51 AM I don’t know whether any of the three witches are actually racist – watch Jade squawk in protest that “her dad was black” (he is mixed race), they are just nasty pieces of work. The dreadful Jackay started all this in referring to “that injun” and Jo’s mimicking of her Mumbai accent is just totally unacceptable in the 21st century. I work for the civil service and if I did that mimicking an Asian colleague, I would be severely disciplined and would probably face dismissal for serious misconduct. I hope all their “careers” crash and burn after this unpleasant episode. Slipper 16-01-2007, 12:25 PM I hope all their “careers” crash and burn after this unpleasant episode. Careers.... Jade - A fat ignoramous unwittingly belittled by the nations media and population. Jo - Former member of a cover band fro pre-pubesents currently out of work Danielle - A geriatric footballers groupie (Not even a wife) who cheated in a pagent competition Not a lot to lose really!! Oh and IoW....I've just noticed your Danielle thread - explains something! floopy 16-01-2007, 01:09 PM The people who watch the live feed are saying that Jack called Shilpa a "paki" and although C4 bleeped the word. C4 are denying that he used that word, but lipreaders of DS seem sure that he did. Patsy 16-01-2007, 01:15 PM Must be true then. What did "The Sun" say? I know I'm probably sticking my neck out here, but he seems to me to be of the ilk that would use that term pretty freely in RL and doesn't have the intelligence to modify his language in the BB House. Stupid honky. Slipper 16-01-2007, 01:22 PM C4 claim he said C***..............So that makes it alright then..! Pats - the Sun is on the fence and haven't comitted to support or condemn Watch this space Patsy 16-01-2007, 01:32 PM What do C4 expect? These people use gutter language in their day-to-day conversation. Surely it can't be the first time this has happened? There's been a constant stream of plankton running through that house for years. IsLe Of WeAtHeR 16-01-2007, 01:47 PM I don’t know whether any of the three witches are actually racist – watch Jade squawk in protest that “her dad was black” (he is mixed race), they are just nasty pieces of work. I hope all their “careers” crash and burn after this unpleasant episode. Working for the Civil service you would get fired if you said you liked your coffee black. what you are talking about is fear of being held liable and not racism. Middle class indignation aint the issue. IsLe Of WeAtHeR 16-01-2007, 02:00 PM Ask yourself this, if say Ant and Dec were in the house and had behaved the way Jade et al had behaved would 3000 people "complain" no they would not. I wonder why that would be? Bella 16-01-2007, 04:31 PM Ask yourself this, if say Ant and Dec were in the house and had behaved the way Jade et al had behaved would 3000 people "complain" no they would not. I wonder why that would be? Well, for starters Ant & Dec would not behave like that and have never to my knowledge have they been seen bullying anyone. Jade has history of bullying, she bullied Sophie - even Danielle admitted that she had had words with her but now they are all best friends..........talk about shallow! I am sure if Ant & Dec were in the house and they behaved in the manner of Jade etc, people would complain but as I have said it's not their manner is it? Pandora 16-01-2007, 04:33 PM Jade was even suspended from school for bullying. La Freak 16-01-2007, 04:33 PM Big Brother row reaches Commons A row over remarks made to Celebrity Big Brother's Shilpa Shetty will be raised in Parliament after thousands of viewers complained to the TV watchdog. Bella 16-01-2007, 06:39 PM More people have complained about the goings on in the BB house than the hanging of Saddam! Patsy 16-01-2007, 08:42 PM If Shilpa was a Geordie/Brummie/Scottish/Welsh and they mimicked her accent, would you accuse them of being racist? tigger 17-01-2007, 08:12 AM Excellent point Patsy.:good: Seabreeze 17-01-2007, 08:19 AM IMHO there have been hints of racism, step forward Jackiey. Jack & Jo, Jade & Danielle are so dense that they have just taken up where Jackiey left off, presuming it's okay to talk about people that way. But it doesn't excuse C4 for letting it continue. The question is are they being deliberetly racist or just bitchy bullies? It now looks like 'The Carphone Warehouse' is reportedly reviewing it`s sponsorship of the show because of the alleged racism. Bonsai 17-01-2007, 08:25 AM IMHO there have been hints of racism, step forward Jackiey. Jack & Jo, Jade & Danielle are so dense that they have just taken up where Jackiey left off, presuming it's okay to talk about people that way. But it doesn't excuse C4 for letting it continue. The question is are they being deliberetly racist or just bitchy bullies? This is what i think. Jade and Co dont seem to know that what they are saying is (at times) bordering on racism. They are too dense to realise. I dont have a massive problem with the perceived racism ... although i might do very soon if they continue. What i have a problem with is the bullying. If one of the girls had a disagreement with Shilpa, fine. It happens in a confined space. It would be raised, there might of been an arguement ... and then its all forgotten. But its the three of them, sitting their rubbing their hands with glee talking about her in a derogatory way and picking her up on every tiny thing. Danielle and Jo seem content to b*itch amongst themselves .... but Jade, who thinks she is the Queen Contestant always has to bring it up to Shilpa, making her feel low and picked on. If i were Shilpa, i would of been out of that house quicker than you could say 'Jade Goody is a Bully'. Punkyfish 17-01-2007, 10:36 AM If Shilpa was a Geordie/Brummie/Scottish/Welsh and they mimicked her accent, would you accuse them of being racist? I have an Irish accent and if someone kept mimicing it in a derogatory way, yes I would feel it was racist. IsLe Of WeAtHeR 17-01-2007, 11:11 AM It is worth perhaps reminding ourselves that if Shilpa was in there with a pal and another Indian girl of a similar background I wonder how that trio would have say treated Danielle if she were the only girl from the UK in there?? Minklemar 17-01-2007, 11:34 AM If Shilpa was a Geordie/Brummie/Scottish/Welsh and they mimicked her accent, would you accuse them of being racist? I don't see the accent mimicking as racist - I've heard Shilpa mimick both Jade's and Jo's accents so if they are being racist then so is she. I don't much like the way Shilpa is being treated but I don't think they are being racist Slipper 17-01-2007, 12:33 PM It is worth perhaps reminding ourselves that if Shilpa was in there with a pal and another Indian girl of a similar background I wonder how that trio would have say treated Danielle if she were the only girl from the UK in there?? Is she your sister or summint? :wallbash: Patsy 17-01-2007, 12:34 PM I'm with you Minks, although I haven't seen as much footage as many of you. What I have seen is bitchy and narrow minded to say the least, but not racist. In answer to IoW's last question, I have no doubt that Shilpa and her friend would discuss the other housemates between themselves, in the same way as Shilpa/Jermaine/Cleo/Dirk are, but they would do it in a lot more considered, intelligent and intelligible manner. Shilpa has more class in the bit they chopped off during her nose job than those other 3 will ever have. Yes, she's an actress; yes, she has been spoiled in many ways, but her manners and the way she conducts herself generally cannot, imo, be brought into question in the same way as Jadedanjo's can. IsLe Of WeAtHeR 17-01-2007, 12:49 PM Is she your sister or summint? :wallbash: No, but the silly band wagoning that is going on with this tat is ridiculous. Where are all the 10,000 complaints about the outrageous sexual stereotyping that goes on in every Bollywood film? - why is no one complaining about the fact that in order for Shilpa to have a career she has to try to look European and that the more indian you look the less chance you have of success in movies etc?? La Freak 17-01-2007, 01:12 PM why is no one complaining about the fact that in order for Shilpa to have a career she has to try to look European and that the more indian you look the less chance you have of success in movies etc?? Bollix IOW, I suggest you check this out... In India she is adored by millions and has an entourage to look after her every whim. She speaks seven languages and lives with her sister and family in a plush upper middle class Mumbai suburb in a luxurious residence several times the size of the Big Brother house But to some members of the Big Brother household she is "the Indian", "the Paki" who eats with her hands. Shilpa Shetty is an award-winning Bollywood star of more than 40 films who took part in Big Brother as an "experiment". Servants tend to her as she copes with the demands of being one of India's top Bollywood babes. http://news.sky.com/skynews/article/0,,30100-1247785,00.html Bollywood babes are in all ways Indian beauties, I think the only thing Shilpa has had done is a nose job - more than you can say for most of our home grown beauties. Be sure to check this link, and see what is now happening! http://news.sky.com/skynews/article/0,,30000-1247795,00.html Pandora 17-01-2007, 01:31 PM That made me laugh actually when the pig ignorant Danielle and Jo said in horrified tones, "they eat with their 'ands dont they???" Have they never eaten a sandwich or a Big Mac? :glare: IsLe Of WeAtHeR 17-01-2007, 01:33 PM yes and what part of what I said is incorrect? She has had a nose job, a boob job, and dies her face. The movies she stars in are totally sexually stereotyped. And since when did the vast majority of India start eating with knives and forks? La Freak 17-01-2007, 01:43 PM Heck, I have lived out in the Far East, and there is not one single well off woman there that does NOT try to whiten their face. As we here spend a fortune on tanning lotions, so they spend the same on trying to look lighter....so the issue is???? Bonsai 17-01-2007, 02:36 PM Can I just say ... she wasn't trying to 'dye her face', she was bleaching her facial hair. Completely different. IsLe Of WeAtHeR 17-01-2007, 02:38 PM Heck, I have lived out in the Far East, and there is not one single well off woman there that does NOT try to whiten their face. As we here spend a fortune on tanning lotions, so they spend the same on trying to look lighter....so the issue is???? that women are rather vain the world over. amen |
