View Full Version : Bit windy innit!
Coastie 18-01-2007, 06:20 AM Well...I can honestly say it's a bit windy down 'ere on the South Coast...we currently have a steady 49kts gusting 61!
The windows of our building are bowing in quite dramatically and every now and then the building gives a little shudder...
If you don't here from me again...well:cold:
Seabreeze 18-01-2007, 06:49 AM Gale force winds here and we had rain lashing on the window throughout the night. Touch wood no damage to report though
Bonsai 18-01-2007, 08:13 AM It very windy were i live too .... but it isnt gale force, just blummin windy. Last Thursday was worse, but things could change later on in the day ?
Mr.B is at home today, and he is on 'fence watch'. I panic that a panel could come down, and the dogs get loose
Bella 18-01-2007, 10:19 AM We don't have wind but we have snow, don't think it is going to lie though as it was raining before.
Tigereye 18-01-2007, 12:05 PM Dang this wind. We've hired a crane this week for £1000 per day and haven't been able to use the fekkin thing yet. Costing us a bleedin fortune....
Can't blame the driver for not going up there tho...
Bonsai 18-01-2007, 01:45 PM The wind has majorly picked up here. Down the thoroughfare tiles are flying off houses / shops. We have lost two at our office. Fence panels are down too all over the place.
tigger 18-01-2007, 02:09 PM One of our neighbour's garage roofs is off, and across the way another neighbour has lost the caps off the top of their roof. I'd be calling the roofer back in on that one! We have lost a couple of tiles from our roof also. Guess we'll be getting a new roof.
littlemissbig 18-01-2007, 02:37 PM I live on the south west cosat of wales and on a hill. The wind just blasts at my windows and floods my room with cold air.
tigger 18-01-2007, 04:54 PM Some people across from me have a 70ft length garden of which runs a 6ft high brick wall. The whole thing has collapsed from the weight of the trees in the wind. It's blocked the whole alleyway.
The double decker bus I was on earlier almost rocked over! Blooming scary!
I may be exaggerating slightly, but it was certainly rocking

They have just shown a double decker bus in the wind on the news and it looked really scarey. Was rocking like crazy
Also just watched some planes landing and they were swaying from side to side, I guess that must have been a brown trouser landing
Bonsai 18-01-2007, 06:39 PM The wind is always strong where i live, even in the summer .... and the bloke next door, although a lovely man lives in a house of disrepair.
His garden gate at the front of the house has kept us awake for the last week. It doesn't lock in place like ours, and at night all we can hear is this blummin gate banging, and the springs squeaking. When we first moved in he didnt have the gate on, it was lying in the garden, but he put it back on about a year ago, although i dont know why because it doesnt close.
Tonight though was the last straw. Its driving me mad, and thats with the telly on. We saw the guy go down the pub, and Mr.B snuck out and took the gate off the hinges !!
Coastie 18-01-2007, 07:58 PM It reached 99mph at the Needles (West ip of the Isle of Wight)...:shocking:
I took my bin out to be emptied and the back alley way was like a scene from a war movie...devastation everywhere!
Thank-fully no damage to report! :good:
Seabreeze 19-01-2007, 05:17 AM Still windy here but nothing like yesterday. Couple of fences and branches down but nothing else local.
tigger 19-01-2007, 08:20 AM Loads of damage around here. Mr tiggs whilst driving yesterday, observed a traffic light fly off an overhead wire. There are also lots of trees resting on houses. I had to walk under one today and it was creaking away. I was a bit scared as it was still windy. Felt some safety barriers should be up around that one. Lots of brick walls down and just loads of trees. Also a petrol sign in the garage across the road is hanging off and if that falls it's going to hurt someone.
Thank your lucky stars you guys only had the wind - we had some heavy snow into the bargain causing blizzards! At one point I thought I was going to be stranded in work.
Coastie 22-01-2007, 03:09 PM Big container ship got into a spot of bother...thank goodness it's in another stations patch and not mine!
Bloody heating has broken again, for the second time in two weeks.
I'm freezing!:mad2:

I almost almost wore a hat to bed last night.
In the style of Nikki (BB) I'm sooooooo cooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo ooooooooooooooooooold
It's finally arrived - after all the wind, rain and freezing temps we now have snow.:cold: :cold: :cold:
maxine 24-01-2007, 06:25 AM I was shivering in my bed all night and wake up to find the snow has come. I hate the snow.:snow_cool:
Coastie 24-01-2007, 08:20 AM We got a dash of snow over night...nothing more...I am so disappointed as I love snow
Bonsai 24-01-2007, 08:28 AM I woke up this morning all excited expecting to see snow, and nothing
BUT it has now arrived, and its snowing quite heavily. Its starting to settle, and i hope it continues for a while. Mr.B is off work today and he wants to take Bella out for her first snow walk :yahoo:
Tigereye 24-01-2007, 09:52 AM They're replacing gas mains on our road [the noise is unbelievable] and our gas central heating has been off for two days. It's FREEZING.
'Service will resume as soon as possible'
B'stards.
thank god for our little teeny fireplace in the bedroom - we were nearly sitting in it last night.
no snow tho...
Coastie 24-01-2007, 11:59 AM I woke up this morning all excited expecting to see snow, and nothing

ooo ooo how exciting! I hope Bella enjoys the experience and doesn't find it too scarey!:applause:
TE...I would offer you the same support as MArs but I know that would freak both of us out so I shall just suggest the mittens and hat...take care...n enjoy the excuse to snuggle with Urk!
Patsy 24-01-2007, 04:54 PM I love the look of snow. I love the muffled calm when there's snow. But I hate walking and especially driving in the snow. It all melted by lunchtime, but there's more to come, apparently.
msgirl 27-01-2007, 04:39 AM DAMN!! We usually have 1-2 snows here by now but we've had a mild winter! Someone send me some snow...please. PM me for my address.:cold:
Seabreeze 28-01-2007, 07:59 AM We have strong winds back today, didn`t realise there was more to come. Wish we had a foot of snow instead
