They (Radio 1 Newsbeat) have been text polling today and the results say that 80% of those who texted say that Jade et al have not been racist. I do not have the sample size but it will be a decent one.


4 times today I have heard the line "I have not been watching BB very much/ really but I think..." by folks on radio and tv.

they said this is Big Brother and it has built its reputation on the above, it is why we watch it..

I think there's lots of insecurities from Jade, but it's definitely not racial."

It's plain ignorance and the fact that she can't control that vicious temper of hers. Racial or not, she is still a vile person!

The racial bit wasn't huge for me .... although Danielle saying that she should 'f)ck off home' didnt give me a warm ready brek glow.

For me its more the bullying side of things that i dont like.

I agree, the bullying has been disgusting and Jade and her cronies are vile and ignorant but still not convinced they are intending to be racist.

As for the furore in India its time they started looking at their caste system as their own people believe that to be racist.

Bollywood star Shilpa Shetty has said that she does not think that her Big Brother tormentor, Jade Goody is racist.

Shilpa has been involved in a series of rows with Goody, Jo O'Meara and Danielle Lloyd, and the Indian actress had initially voiced fears that her treatment was fueled by racism.

But speaking in the diary room when the dust had settled on the row, Shilpa said she felt that the verbal assault by Jade had not been racially motivated.

She said: "I would like you to please clarify and put this as a statement from my side if you can: that I don't feel there was any racial discrimination happening from Jade's end."

However, unlike millions of television viewers, Shilpa was not privy to all the comments made by Jade and fellow contestants and it remains to be seen how she will regard the comments in their full context.

Ahhh but we have to be careful. C4 may change it from vote to evict to vote to keep meaning that all those calls go the wrong way!

Where were the eviction numbers at the end of the programme yesterday? They usually come straight up with the credits and didn’t come up at all ! Hope Endeomol are going to pull a fast one – I wouldn’t put it past them. Didn’t their Chairman of whatever he was yesterday giving the statement look horrible?:shutup:

Sorry, but even if it wasn't deliberate, comments like
- "She should f*** off home"
- "Shilpa Poppadom"
- "She's trying to make herself look more white" etc.
are mildly racist imo.

I do believe, however, that Jade is too thick to be purposely racist (or 'racial' as she keeps saying) but it doesn't disguise how offensive and ignorant the comments are from her and her cronies.
