View Full Version : Cleo - Sussed =)
Repetition 19-01-2007, 05:50 AM I've finally figured out the nature of the chip on Cleo's shoulder. It's been on the tip of my cerebellum for days, then her lil chat with Shilpa following Jade's squawkfest clinched it.
She's desperate, to the point of paranoia, that nobody should think ill of her.
You can almost see her brain working - it's all in the eyes. Talking to Shilpa, she'd begin some words of wisdom/concellation....they'd be making sense.. and you could see where she was headed..... THEN..... her inner voice would tell her "Damn! She might take that the wrong way." or "That sounds like I'm blaming her/them". As a result of that.... many sentences she began ended with "but"... the "but" part never expressed lest it should cause offence. Others trailed off into jumbled rantings, collections of words that meant nothing. Some just stopped..... all because she fretted that her points and/or conclusions just MIGHT be construed negatively.
If you caught it on tape... KEEP IT.... it's TV gold. A deep-rooted phobia caught on cam. With this in mind, watch it again... you can see the precise points where her brain tells her "You need to polish this up a bit or something bad might happen."...... then it's "but", "or".... silence...... or wonderfully meaningless rambling.
There's NO WAY Cleo could act this. She's genuinely afraid. The way she hangs around listening to the Jade/Shilpa conflicts and is usually the first of the others to say anything when they're over suggests that Cleo is typically confident in herself.... no more averse to conflict than anyone else. I mention this cuz it could be interesting when the house dynamic changes following the departure of either of those currently getting the attention. If Cleo gets into an argument.. I think she'll hold her own so long as it stays on topic... BUT.. if it gets personal and someone awards her a "negative personality trait" that's a little close to home... Cleo might well break down and weep.. surprising everybody who thought she was "strong". She is quite strong... but with a weak-spot; it's RIGHT THERE when she's "counselling" Shilpa.
Repetition 19-01-2007, 07:03 AM Further proof of the theory.
She didn't know where to look when telling BB her nominations. "What will people think of me?!" "OMG. What will Jade and Shilpa think of me when they get out and find out I nominated them?!"
And the reasons for those nominations, Cleo?
Can ANYBODY tell me what her reasons are... other than them being at the centre of "the division"? The woman just won't commit to any opinion through FEAR of what people might think of her.
She said quite a lot.... yet conveyed nothing at all.
Punkyfish 19-01-2007, 09:54 AM I have gone off Cleo big time and now actually find her rather creepy! She should definitely have gone last week instead of Carol who at least had a bit about her. I can’t stand the way she has her norks hanging out half the time as well!
Pandora 19-01-2007, 10:06 AM I think you are spot on Repetition. Cleo is a fence sitter of mega proportions because she hates the thought of anyone thinking ill of her.
Dolores 19-01-2007, 06:48 PM Desparate has-been fag hag - just about sums up Cleo imo!
... and to think I quite liked her when she went in!
Punkyfish 20-01-2007, 01:55 PM I am sorry to bang on about her, BUT I CANNOT STAND CLEO NOW - every time her bovine white face with her bushy dyed-red big 80s hair comes onto the screen with that STUPIDLY VACANT expression on her face, especially when someone is bad mouthing Shilpa, is winding me up big time. She is typical of the "dont want to get involved" brigade. No mettle or character at all and just parades around in low cut evening dresses as its the only way she thinks she is going to get attention - grrrrrrr:wallbash: :wallbash:
Pandora 20-01-2007, 02:25 PM Gotta say that the downcast little-girl-lost eyes and the "oh this is so horrid" expression has really started getting up my nose. Grow some backbone Cleo !!!!!
Bonsai 20-01-2007, 03:54 PM Ive gone off her too .... but mainly because of her association with the three witches.
I like her style and i love the slinky dresses, and the diamonds and the red spiky hair. She is sassy, and i like that. But i hate the way she sat squarely on the fence, although i think she veered towards the Jade camp.
I wonder what she will do now.
kookycat 20-01-2007, 06:06 PM im sorry but if i saw somebody laying into somebody else like jade did on oxogate i would be saying something. how can you either sit there like jo and danielle ****ing themselves with laughter or like cleo pretending it aint happening?! cowards all of them!! i wonder if the boys wouldve done anything if they werent outside??
Punkyfish 22-01-2007, 09:20 AM Am I the only one who found her “acting as a character” and making advances to Dirk totally cringe worthy? She just would NOT stop. I have always thought she fancied him a bit and he just does not fancy her, get over it luv. Typical woman scorned the way she started all the bitching about him when before she would never ever say a bad word about anyone and certainly not against darling Jade.

Totally agree Punky. I'm sure that she was well aware that he wouldn't be game as he said he's always avoided her in the past when she goes into character. She was trying to make him look bad. I think he summed her up pretty well. Desperate.
IsLe Of WeAtHeR 22-01-2007, 11:19 AM Kenny Everett shows were a bit like that. funny for a bit and then very unfunny after the gag was repeated for eons after. she is stuck in an 80's timewarp. mind you, Dork did not handle it well.
Pandora 22-01-2007, 03:18 PM I agree Dirk didnt handle things as well as he couldve done, but by now, every time I saw Cleo appear 'in character' Id go and hide in the nearest wheely bin until yet another totally unfunny episode was over....
Dolores 22-01-2007, 09:27 PM I felt quite sorry for Cleo tonight with the joke thing.
OK she wasn't funny, but the old dear had gone to such lengths and was so desparate to be funny I think BB could have lightened up and laughed at her joke out of pity!
In the lounge watching the playback I think it dawned on her that she is a sad, lonely old woman, desparately trying to be amusing - and failing. I was quite moved for her.
She seems desparately unhappy at times. And all this talking about her characters (ie. Tiara) in the third person like they really exist - it ain't natural I tells ya!
maxine 23-01-2007, 06:31 AM I felt sorry for her too. I mean the woman even made fake poo! Jo's face said it all really. And some of Dirks comments, although she didn't hear them, were quite harsh. True but harsh. It was all a bit sad to watch.

I think Cleo is a very peculiar woman like one of these old faded actresses who live in a kind of dream like state believing their characters are real people. A bit of a Baby Jane. I think Dirk has her spot on, she is a sad lonely middle aged woman who I think hoped she had a chance with him. . I would have had more sympathy with her if she hadn’t sucked up quite so much to the Jade camp and constantly tells Jack how wonderful he is (?) She showed a nasty side to her when Dirk rejected her and she should have showed a tad more self respect. I think she has embarrassed herself totally. She was my favourite to win at the beginning – oh how things change!
Pandora 27-01-2007, 02:36 PM So there was an agenda behind all the wigs and characters then......
Two words to your ambitions Cleo - fat. chance.
Cleo hopes to be next Catherine Tate
Cleo has admitted that she is hoping for her own sketch show following her stint in the Celebrity Big Brother house.
The actress wants to follow in the footsteps of Catherine Tate after introducing the nation to some of her characters over the past three weeks.
"I'd love to launch a new comedy show with really wacky characters, like a cross between Little Britain and Catherine Tate. I think the time is right for something new," Cleo told the Daily Star last night.
"The characters I brought in with me - like Tiara the Tart and Dorothy Montgomery the biscuit tycoon's wife - were done deliberately because I was hoping there was a producer out there looking for new ideas."
Asked about failing to make Big Brother laugh in the comedy task, she added: "That was embarrassing. I died on my a**e in the Diary Room. I think they stitched me up. I was certainly funnier than some of the others."

Well yeah, I can see how something on the lines of C Tate or LB would be something new.....sheeeesh, what planet is she on????
Punkyfish 29-01-2007, 08:57 AM Sorry Cleo - read my lips YOU ARE JUST NOT FUNNY.
Repetition 30-01-2007, 04:57 AM How long ago was it I started the thread..... 2 weeks?
Maybe I wasn't 100% right...... but I think it's become VERY apparant WHY she did so much fence sitting and was so very reluctant to express any opinion at all. Clearly, she knew all along that to give anything of herself away was to die on her feet.
If you were to draw an X - Y graph...... number of opinions expressed horiziontal...... popularity vertical..... the result would be a straight line, at 45 degrees, from top left to bottom right.
The more her non-committal blabberings gave way to the REAL CLEO... the more vile she revealed herself to be. Finally.... with all those carefully constructed barriers removed, there on BBBM an unobstructed view of her true personality. Apparantly half-cut and bolstered by her equally foul pal Carole.... they bitched and bitched to and about Dirk on what was supposed to be a "happy party" type show. Boy.... how they HATED him for seeing right through them. What was it.... "I'd rather have my head boiled in rhino phlegm." ??? Charming!
While Dirk's comment about middle-aged clevage might seem rather unkind if taken literally...... I THINK he meant when it's being provocatively thrust at you by its desperate owner. Interpreted that way.... I can see where he's coming from and from that perspective would like to add.... there's nothing worse than DRUNK middle-aged cleavage.
Thanks for demonstrating it so succinctly Cleo..... and Carole... pathetic harpies. It'd be nice to think we'd seen the last of them but fear that Carole, at least, will be blighting Daytime TV screens for a while longer yet.
Pandora 30-01-2007, 03:25 PM I think you are right about Dirk seeing straight through Cleo. He wouldnt entertain her at all would he? I missed the comment about middle aged cleavage.... (ouch!).....

good post, Repetition!
dreadful, dreadful women! they make me shudder.
I never liked her - and you don't see much of her these days - which can only be a good thing!
Punkyfish 22-05-2007, 10:12 AM I havent seen or read anything about her since they came out of the House. Mission unaccomplished for her I suppose. :applause:
Dolores 22-05-2007, 05:29 PM I never liked her - and you don't see much of her these days - which can only be a good thing!
she was bestest mates ever with Jo and Carol - they were soul mates and would never spend a day apart ever ever again - they swapped vials of blood and everything .... wonder how that's working out for her!!
