I have a friend who is going to be undergoing a Heart Bypass in a couple of months time, and has to take 3 months off work post op.

As she is a total workaholic, I have decided to whip her away for a relaxing break for her last 2 weeks of the 3 months. Her family are all for it, but I wonder if anyone knows somewhere that is tranquil, got decent outlets for dining nearby (walking distance would be best), with beautiful scenery...anywhere in the world really would be considered. Decent weather is best, but nothing beachy, a swimsuit may not be an option.

How about Northern Spain? The area around Bilbao/Laredo is lovely.

That is actually an excellent idea Fee, and one I will look into. I drove up from Marbella to Santander many, many years back, and thought the scenery north of Madrid to be so beautiful. Do they still run the ferry from Plymouth these days?

I would still love to hear some more options too please?

Not sure about the ferry. We used to go S'hampton to santander when we were in the Algarve but that was yonks ago.

Is the swimsuit not an option because of post-op scarring? You can get some really nice high necked suits now. I like 'em because I'm shortwaisted and they're more slimming.
