View Full Version : Castaway is a-coming
Haydon 02-03-2007, 08:53 AM Yay... Castaway is coming back! :yahoo: Castaway, is set to return to the BBC seven years after the first series was broadcast.
Just like before, the new programme will feature people going to live as a community in a remote destination but with some new twists in the social experiment. This time round the programmes will be live and they will be coming from a new, exotic location.
It's actually on an island called Great Barrier Island, down near New Zealand. It looks blooming gorgeous.

Watch it!
Coastie 04-03-2007, 07:26 AM I enjoyed the start of the first series but then lost track of when it was on etc and it all went horribly wrong...I shall endeavour to catch this show as and when though as I really enjoyed the concept!
Dolores 04-03-2007, 11:14 AM I didn't watch the first series - only snippets.
But I'd like to give this one ago, esp as they are in a warmer climate rather than the freezing cold and windy Outer Herbrides (or wherever!).
I hope it's a good mix of people and not all 20 something Shipwrecked types with fit bodies, tanned pectorals and pert bottoms ... :assshake:
Bonsai 04-03-2007, 03:40 PM I didnt see the first one either, but im interested this time. I will definately tune in and see what its like. I feel i missed out on something special last time.
mazwad 04-03-2007, 07:55 PM I followed the first one and will look forward to getting stuck into this one.
Think I'll watch this too. When does it start?
Seabreeze 06-03-2007, 06:22 AM Friday BBC1 9pm also BBC3 9.30pm
Bonsai 06-03-2007, 08:11 AM Friday BBC1 9pm also BBC3 9.30pm
Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo. It clashes with Ugly Betty :glare:
Will it only be on on Friday nights?
I'm confused about this show too. People are saying it's going to be broadcast live, but I thought they'd already started living there?
Seabreeze 06-03-2007, 04:26 PM They were showing you the island this morning of tv and the presenter said it`s time to go as they were just going to arrive. I`ve not heard if it`s live or not but I assumed it would be us just catching up with them once a week
Coastie 08-03-2007, 02:46 AM Starts tonight if I remember right!
Or is it tomorrow night?

tomorrow night ...you donut!
it seems this time it is people in single units - last time I thought it was a mix of families and singletons and they all kind of built a mini community. I'll give it a go, but I hope it's not too much like shipwrecked where they really dont' have anything very much to do. i want to see a few challenges and team games (although I'm pretty sure that's not what it's about) .... ahhhh bring back SURVIVOR!
Rubbish, I forgot this was on!
Whens the next/repeat?
maxine 10-03-2007, 09:39 AM Star of the show - Jonathan! What a great character.
Star of the show - Jonathan! What a great character.
Hmm, I'm not so sure. Yes, he was funny and will no doubt make good TV but I can see it turning into "The Jonathan Show" to be honest.
Dolores 10-03-2007, 12:03 PM Star of the show - Jonathan! What a great character.
he knows what buttons to press doesn't he! great fun? yes. intimidating? nope!
that shrieky blonde girl is getting on my nerves though - I reckon Jonathan will have shagged her by the end of the programme - she's gagging for him!!!!
I thought Hassan (who broke the water container) is one to watch - he had no remorse, guilt or sense of duty to repair the water container and seemed to think that made him ok! odd fella!
Reckon the ex-army bloke will give Jonathon a run for his money -that will be good tv watching those two clash!
My son likes Alasdar (the young totally hetrosexual(!) farmer) the best - he's a nice enough lad even if he does remind me of a young and attractive Piers Morgan!
I shall continue to watch this and I hope the scheduling isn't too erratic otherwise I will forget it is on. Next main show in Sunday night.
Punkyfish 13-03-2007, 01:08 PM Enjoyed Fridays but got slightly bored with Sundays - dont know why.
Wendy is just like Kathy Burke, and Gemma is doin me ed in. If her parents were so monied as to give her a Mercedes, why didnt they give her a decent education, she is so inarticulate and obnoxious! As for Jonathan that stupid mime act wasnt funny when Leo Sayer did it - twit!
Bonsai 13-03-2007, 01:34 PM Enjoyed Fridays but got slightly bored with Sundays - dont know why.
Same as me. I watched Fridays and it was OK. I recorded sundays and watched it last night .... and i got half way through and turned it off.
I dont know if i will bother tuning in again. It really bored me.
That Gemma's an irritating little bitch isn't she? Her self-obsessed speech about all the material things mummy and daddy have bought her was vomit inducing, not to mention a kick in the teeth to Wendy who struggles to bring up 4 (or more?) kids on her own.
If her mum and dad are so minted then why couldn't they afford to send her to a proper school where she would learn to speak properly?
*edit- just realised that Punkyfish said almost the exact same thing. Great minds and all that... :D
Tigereye 15-03-2007, 10:49 AM I know they have to include people with personalities that will ensure good telly, but do they ALL have to be wackos?
I think this show will get better when they realise they actually will have to work and plan and organise rations etc,but it being only 3 months long negates the urgency for survival.
Too much like watching your neighbours from hell's video of their camping holiday at the mo.
Punkyfish 19-03-2007, 09:51 AM Anyone still watching?
Jonathan is ceasing to be entertaining and is becoming most annoying. All he does is want to "argue and debate" - very tiresome and that wierd rictus grin showing orange teeth is most offputting!

The probability is that the other castaways will vote him off next week, leaving Sergeant Ken in charge :(
KADEO26 19-03-2007, 07:58 PM Blimey, Sergeant Ken is going to "oik" Jonathan off the island because he's upsetting the "troops"
..... but the East wing is revolting .....
and at least two of them want to send Jason home, and so does Jonathan ..... :wink2:
Meanwhile Clare and Chicken Joe are enjoying being together and apart from the others - Joe admits being "fearful" of Erica's propensities !!!!!
Tigereye 20-03-2007, 10:27 AM Dang - missed it on sunday. Is it repeated at all?
