Paul: Yes I have - they're oven-readies on legs
Janet: Look just cos they're not blaaaahdy Corgis it doesn't mean they don't need attention. Come on emus, cheer up ..."

Proof positive that she does have a heart.

Anyone that can love a scraggly, leggy old bird can't be all bad.*

Haha - I'll state the obvious then; What's Janet's boyfriend got to do with it

Janet is just a soft marshmallow wrapped up in an outer layer of pork scratching.

Scratching is right! I am finding her very abrasive at the moment.

Nahhh she's just enjoying winding them all up. She likes putting a rocket up people's bums.

I reckon her to be the most self-centred person they have ever had on IAC, she is all about what SHE wants to do, doesn't care nothing for anyone else.

I hope she doesn't win, she always was a bitch, and I see nothing has changed over time.

Yup, she's trying to win votes by pretending she's really a nice person after all. Not fooling me for one second. We all know this is the REAL Janet -----> :ranting:

And how do "we" all know this...do you know her?

I know what I SEE. This is what I have seen. Some people may agree with me, others may not. Don't be so serious!!

No, I take people on face value, and do stop being so snide.

Lets stick to the topic please.

Ive got a tenner on Janet to win, so anything she can do to get that crown is okay by me, even if it means "doing a Joe" and interacting with the cute, fluffy ickle birdies ....

All I can say is "Will the real Janet Street Porter Stand up please" because so far she has been very inconsistent with her views on everything.

She has stated that she dislikes pets but when there's a chance to have a dig at Paul she comes over all concerned about them.

She has baited Burrell about name dropping and has done quite a bit of name dropping herself.

She had a go about Sophie being all me, me, me, and seems to start every sentence with "I"

She has told Paul that he is a snob and then got snobby about the books people should read

and so on... loads more examples which escape me at the moment.

I haven't noticed this double-standard with the other 3.

She just seems to say and do whatever suits her at the time. One of those people with whom you never know where you are. I would think working with her would be like walking on egg shells.

You're right, of course. But let's not forget she's been in the meeja forever. The ability to say whatever seems most appropriate at that exact moment, regardless of personal views, is probably a required qualification for such a career.

As is the abilty to generalise wildly about an industry which employs thousands of people?

It would seem that spending life in the public eye, whether in politics, showbusiness or any other public sphere, probably does lead you to lose touch with your own opinions.

After all, when you're public property you DO have to keep the masses happy if you want to retain your popularity, and so you have to present whatever face is appropriate at the time.

I think it's a fair point that she might be suckered in to that kind of behaviour....I think most people would be in that situation.

Firstly, I did not generalise about anything. I referred specifically to an individual career.

Secondly, I was far from wild.

Thirdly, I sometimes respond badly to aggressive people. It's quite a pleasant Saturday evening. Shall we leave it at that?

With most people it is known as running with the hare and chasing with the hounds - lol. With Janet it is the opposite - she likes to go against the flow all the time for fear of being seen as the same as everybody else and not controversial enough to be interesting.

You respond badly? Is that a threat? You think robust debate is aggression?

Of course it's not a threat. We're on the Internet. It's all talk.

However I do reserve the right to choose who I talk with.

And I can't be bothered with argumentative people.

Endex.

Well done Critique, you have just summed up in a nutshell exactly the game this woman is playing!

She will tell you to shut up over anything she is unsure about. Argue for any side against the one you are for, moan like hell about anything, and then smile sweetly at the camera begging for your vote.

Shame. I like people who defend their posts with a robust style. Thanks, anyway.
