View Full Version : Eurovision song contest?? La Freak 17-03-2007, 09:59 PM Forget it for this year folks, they have really, really dredged the bottom of the barrel for this years 'winner' ....complete and utter cr*p of the first degree. Dolores 17-03-2007, 10:12 PM Eurovision - it always amazes me that anyone takes any interest in it at all. it really doesn't register on the Dolores-ometer at all. I find it a complete and utter bore - even Tel's tongue in cheek commentary doesnt do it for me Im afraid. I'm surprised it's still going tbh. La Freak 17-03-2007, 10:17 PM It is absolutely massive in the whole of the rest of Europe Dol, and I mean HUGE!!! We lost interest due to total and utter tripe songs being offered to represent us, and always now being way down the voting lists. Give us apathetic songs, and we will be apathetic! Critique 17-03-2007, 10:20 PM I love it - find it hilarious; the stupid songs, the stupid costumes, the stupid voting and our stupid entry  I agree with LF, I think we've outdone ourselves this year for a no hoper but I'll still be watching us get nil points :) Dolores 17-03-2007, 10:21 PM also the obvious voting is a turn off too. it's really not about the best song at all is it, it's about judges political point scoring - all rather silly! :kid: Pandora 17-03-2007, 10:33 PM Eurovision - it always amazes me that anyone takes any interest in it at all. it really doesn't register on the Dolores-ometer at all. I find it a complete and utter bore - even Tel's tongue in cheek commentary doesnt do it for me Im afraid. I'm surprised it's still going tbh. Same here Dol. Never seen the point of it, cant understand why so many people watch it. Its all political anyway, nothing to do with how good or bad the songs are. Turkey voting against Greece cos they hate them and vice versa. Same for all the baltic countries......... :sleepy: Seabreeze 18-03-2007, 06:11 AM I watch it if there`s nothing else on and Wogan always makes me laughs with him comments. I don`t think we`ve had a decent song for years though Rob 18-03-2007, 10:55 AM I don't normally watch it but my wife and son were so I ended up seeing the second programme. I agree that the song is rubbish - but it is a throwback to the old days of Eurovision. It is so camp but I can't get the bloody thing ou of my head! I loved Wogan's gaffe when they announced the winner - total confusion - brilliant! maxine 18-03-2007, 12:33 PM I don't normally watch it but my wife and son were so I ended up seeing the second programme. I agree that the song is rubbish - but it is a throwback to the old days of Eurovision. It is so camp but I can't get the bloody thing ou of my head! I loved Wogan's gaffe when they announced the winner - total confusion - brilliant! But who did win? Someone please tell. Fee For All 18-03-2007, 01:37 PM Scooch (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8m-ngE570qg) 'bout time we started sending the whole thing up  Buzz 18-03-2007, 03:15 PM What a pile of sh i te..... we'll probably win this year Fee For All 18-03-2007, 03:45 PM I don't think we want to - it costs too much to host. maxine 18-03-2007, 05:32 PM Oh my god. That is truly awful. Perfect for Eurovision. Critique 18-03-2007, 05:49 PM If you thought that was bad Maxine, and if you only watched that link which was obviously recorded, wait til you hear it "live" and see the naff costume and routine. Fee For All 18-03-2007, 05:54 PM Ta Da (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2kNoAddyUMQ) It's fab, innit. Critique 18-03-2007, 07:28 PM The only "fab" thing about it is that they look like the Thunderbirds puppets  Fee For All 18-03-2007, 08:00 PM No they don't! They just move like them  I've just thought of a better version: 'We're flying the flag, wherever we can All over Iraq, and Afghanistan...' That'll sort out Johnny Foreigner Haydon 18-03-2007, 09:04 PM oh my good god. WOULD YOU LIKE SOMETHING TO SUCK ON BEFORE LANDING SIR?????! That's it, I'm emigrating. Fee For All 18-03-2007, 09:47 PM Emigrating? Do you mean you can't wait to get on a plane? Seabreeze 19-03-2007, 06:08 AM The only "fab" thing about it is that they look like the Thunderbirds puppets  hahaha I knew they reminded me of something but couldn`t quite put my finger on it Bonsai 19-03-2007, 08:31 AM I think the song is a complete cheese fest .... and as such we might do quite well !!! I had this conversation with hubby on saturday night. He said that the ballad should of won, as ballads win. He mentioned Ireland as an example. I said though that all the times we have won in the past we won using a pop song (think Cliff Richards, Bucks Fizz, Katrina and the Waves). We wont win though anyway as noone will vote for us  I havent watched a Eurovision in about 10 years, but i like to watch the scoring at the end, and snigger as we get nil points. Punkyfish 19-03-2007, 09:49 AM Starting watching but soon got bored and switched channels. What on earth did that Mel woman have on her head? ::unsure: Fee For All 19-03-2007, 04:23 PM Oooh - some tough competition coming from the Ukraine (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eX_rNEPIgc8&mode=related&search=) Critique 19-03-2007, 05:22 PM Oooh - some tough competition coming from the Ukraine (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eX_rNEPIgc8&mode=related&search=) Well praise be - they look and sound even sillier than ours! Fee For All 19-03-2007, 05:51 PM I may have t break a habit of a lifetime and watch it this year. Can't beat a bit of eurocr@p. Look at this frock (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oWOfzaSVizo) - though I think I preferred it when the eastern bloc came on trailing a couple of goats and strumming on a babushka (or should that be balalaika) As if it made any difference:laugh: Critique 19-03-2007, 06:54 PM Isn't that Jordan's Wedding dress? What were they doing under there? :w00t: No, I don't think I really want to know  tigger 20-03-2007, 08:14 AM Wow! We might have a chance after seeing that!:shocking: Very sad I know, but our song is quite growing on me. It's typical Eurovision song contest material, but it is quite catchy.:w00t: Bonsai 20-03-2007, 08:18 AM On the local radio news today it said 'contraversy (sp) over Eurovision winner'. I sat in the car as long as i could to hear the news ... but then i had to come into work. Any idea what the problem is ? tigger 20-03-2007, 08:25 AM No I don't Bons. I'll have a look to see though. HAHAHAHAH on the Ukraine entry. It's hilarious. I almost believe they'll probably win.:w00t: tigger 20-03-2007, 08:30 AM It's to do with the Israeli entry. Might have something to do with some of the lyrics. The world is full of terror If someone makes an error He's gonna blow us up to biddy biddy kingdom come There are some crazy rulers they hide and try to fool us With demonic, technologic willingness to harm.... (Translation from Hebrew:) Messages are exploding above me missiles flying over me and falling on me... Between a rocket and a weapon between a kidnapped person and opportunism... nothing is what everybody does. You can read more here. http://www.esctoday.com/news/read/7844 La Freak 20-03-2007, 08:33 AM The problem is that Scooch are being accused of cheating. Seems they had a couple of strong female singers offstage singing while some on stage mimed ~ that has been verified btw. Not sure what the outcome will be, but, I had the feeling Scooch were being 'nurtured' for this win. Only for them did they interview the Mum and child of one of the singers during the show ~ never did that to any of the others. The one from Darkness reckons the BP are stupid for voting them in. Right on!! tigger 20-03-2007, 08:43 AM Oh I didn't see this. Sorry Bons wrong answer. Flyo 28-03-2007, 03:35 PM That scooch song is awesome!! It's like cheese on toast without the toast! It's surprisingly dirty, and delightfully addictive! It's typical Eurovision and I love it! (Can't believe they get away with the "Would you like something to suck on, sir?") Watched the full Eurovision programme last year, and it was hilarious! Also watched the "Making your mind up" programme and was deadly against the French girl (boring song and not English- though don't think many people are from the country they represent anyway (Gina G is aussie I think, Celine Dion is Canadian??... countless others) I'd just rather be represented by someone English/British (are we England or Britain for this?)) So cheered greatly when they messed up only to announce Scooch had won! |
