View Full Version : Going anywhere nice?
Coastie 08-04-2007, 02:23 AM So anyone going anywhere nice this year for their 'olidays?:)
I have no leave booked until November now but could book some in for a dive holiday at some stage between now and then...just hate taking leave when I have no where to go :(
Slipper 08-04-2007, 04:30 AM Well no plans as yet but a new one to the wish list is Oman.
Coastie 08-04-2007, 07:18 PM I almost called in sick tonight...caught the first coach to Heathrow and the first plane to anywhere...but clearly I bottled it! :(
May be doing another road trip across Canada this time in the summer but just waiting for the call...
Minklemar 11-04-2007, 04:09 PM I have a couple of things booked up......
I've just got back from Spring Harvest at Minehead which was great - it was my first time, I was working on the exhibition team but had some time to enjoy it too. I'll be volunteering again for next year if they'll have me!
In May I'm going to Sierra Leone again - the accomodation for the street childrens charity is almost finished and I'm hoping we'll be there for when the kids move in.
I'm going to Center Parcs for a week in June with all the family (dog included!).
So far I have nothing booked for after June......but I'm hoping I'll be able to go to Sierra Leone again in November, some of the people I went with last year are going again and I'd like to go with them.
Dolores 12-04-2007, 04:34 PM I'm off to Brighton on 20th April for my first camping trip of the year to a place called Sheepcote. I hope it's not too cold!
I shall be celebrating my 44th (gulp!) birthday with my brother and his family and my mum and dad - Maxine wont be joining us - some excuse about it being her son's 14th birthday aswell!
I've got a couple more camping trips planned mainly in the New Forest which we really loved last year - can't wait for the weather to warm up (it's still quite chilly at night).
Figaro 12-04-2007, 09:43 PM Nope. No holidays for us this year I think. Doubt we can stretch to it.
Completely off topic, but when I started to typed that sentance above, I slipped on the keyboard and hit several keys at once. My typo freakily spelled out the letters:
TAYLOR STEVENS (it even had the space between the two words....)
Spooky. Do you think my "slip" was divine intervention? Is that the name of someone who will feature in my destiny?
Or do I just have an over-active imagination.....
Coastie 13-04-2007, 07:29 AM Figs you're fabulous!
Dol...I have a particularly warm sleeping bag if you need to borrow one!
Minks...I may venture to New Wine for a couple of days this year but can't make the whole week unfortunately...used to go to Spring Harvest way back...love it! :applause: Do they need any more help in Sierra Leon? :wink2:

I grew up near Sheepcote Valley, in those days it was a Council Landfill Site but apparently it is lovely now and it's not far from Brighton Marina.
Have a great time
Patsy 13-04-2007, 12:27 PM Just back from a few days in Paris en famille, which was faaaabulous. My favourite are only just recovering.
Off to Birmingham for the night next Saturday.
Oh, and off to Thailand in July for a couple of weeks.
Bonsai 13-04-2007, 12:27 PM No, I dont think ill be going anywhere again (3rd year now).
We have our lovely caravan which is stored in the back garden, and if i put a tow bar on the back of my car we could go off somewhere - but im having a battle with Mr.B over it at the moment.
We love our 'van, but the last time we used it was before we got a dog. So Bailey came along and he thought the van might be too small .... and now we have Bella. But we cant afford a bigger caravan. Its a 2-berth, and has a kitchen, bathroom etc .... and we have a HUGE awning, but Mr.B thinks life will be hard with the 4 of us in there.
So, it looks like my holidays will be spent in the back yard !!
mazwad 13-04-2007, 05:59 PM Off to Gran Canaria on Monday. You may remember we went there last year and for various reasons not a great holiday. This time we are going with Mr M's brother and his wife and we are staying at Gatwick the night before so we don't have all that rushing around in the morning.
End of July we are off to France with the camper van, son and family and large tent coming with us. We are staying only 30 mins from Calais at a nice site we found last time. The kids love going to France but hate driving for ages so this should suit everyone, its also very close to a nice wine warehouse.
I am off to Devon for a week with one of my friends and his 3 year old son, he wants to get away with him and he knows i want to go down but not stay with the outlaws, so we are gonna go self catering for a week in May/June (before the schools break up)....
I am also hoping for a couple of weeks at Ma & Pa's place in Spain at some point with my bessie mate, we have both been invited to another friends place in Brazil but im a bit scared about travelling that far at the moment, im still not 100% when im out of my comfort zone, Spain doesnt count cos my friends parents live there too and we have quite a few friends living in and around Marbella, and I have more faith in the Costa del Sol hospital than I do the one on my doorstep!
Coastie 14-04-2007, 11:04 AM oOOooo how exciting Isis...have a fantastic time! - oh and Brazil is a place I have contemplated in the past simply because it has such amazing rain forests...one day!:wink2:
Maz...Have a safe journey and lots of fun!
Bon...just as long as you have a chance to do what you want to do and don't have to answer to the boss for a while that is a holiday...you just have to make sure you do fill the time withstuff that you enjoy! (and maybe you could entertain a visitor?):wink2:
Minklemar 16-04-2007, 08:52 AM Minks...I may venture to New Wine for a couple of days this year but can't make the whole week unfortunately...used to go to Spring Harvest way back...love it! :applause: Do they need any more help in Sierra Leon? :wink2:
I'm going to Greenbelt in August - I went for the first time last year and really enjoyed it.
I've not been to New Wine though (yet!).
:) I'm always trying to recruit new volunteers for the trips - if ever you fancy something different let me know and I'll send you some details!!

Two of my friends bands have played at Geenbelt in the past...it's a great gig!:applause:
I'll PM you re the mission field stuff! :wink2:
Ooooo Im all excited, we have booked the caravan for a week at the end of June, staying in Brixham (I think its where you stayed when you came down Andrea), I didnt feel right about staying in Paignton somehow.....cos Paignton was home......
I will be seeing Miss Jade and Lewie as well as Mr I's parents while im down there - Lewie is in the army now, bless him, been a shock to the system but his only complaint was about being forced to go to church.....
The best bit is, I can take the dog with me - I want to take him to where we scattered Mr I's ashes (mind you, as I said to Mr I's mum, he will probably pee all over the spot   )
Im also looking forward to seeing my girlie mates down there, as I havent seen some of them for over a year......
I fancy a weekend in Amsterdam too - I think I may suggest this to my bessie mate for us to do for my birthday in July.....
Tigereye 25-05-2007, 11:41 AM Just back from Correlejo in Fuerteventura [far too hot - burnt my ass] but Urk couldn't go so the two of us are going to book somewhere cheap and warm in September for a week... might go back to crete...:sun:
Me and myhubby are off to Turkey at the end of June. Only 1 week, but it will be 1 week of relaxation with some scuba diving too. YEEESSSS!!!
Coastie 25-05-2007, 07:01 PM Ooo let me know how the Scuba goes buddy! :wink2: I do a boit of that myself!:)
msgirl 30-05-2007, 04:12 AM Well, after my lovely, yet quick trip down South recently...I have another excursion in the works for July 7-15. We are returning to the Motherland...Picayune, for about 3-4 days, then spending the remaining 5 days in Tangipahoa Parrish, Louisiana with Flip and Mel. They have recently bought a GORGEOUS house with a pool and PLENTY of spare room and want us to stay till they can't stand us anymore!! Flip is in my 'down South' piccies that we took at the crawfish boil/work re-union party last May. I look forward to this with zeal. He's the ultimate drink master and my very best guy friend. We got to share New Years Day with he and Mel, and then he had to go to work unexpectedly the next day and now he will be taking days off for our visit. We've been buddies since middle school and worked side by side for 8+ years @ NASA. I truly love him to pieces, plus he's an Absolute lover...a man of my own heart. We've Mardi Gras'd together, did all kinds of pranks on people, and just have an awesome bond. I can't wait!! I will have pics galore. His house is beyond awesome!! He has a ferret that has to be removed from my room b/c it gives me the heebie jeebies, and 3 Labrador Retriever dogs named Hershey, Cracker, and Cornbread. I sooooo look forward to spending time with him...and Mel!! Can't wait!!  He's the bomb!!
