View Full Version : Do you remember......
Okay here is a chance to rekindle those things from the past that you thought you had forgotten....
The reason I started this is because we have just 'turned out' our loft/attic (whatever you prefer to call it) in preparation for getting the house re-wired next week and found my Rubiks Cube. I used to be able to do this, but now can only rememebr how to get 2 layers done.
Could you do it then?
Do you think you could do it now?

With instructions, yes.
Dolores 12-04-2007, 07:21 PM I could never complete a rubiks cube in a million years, not even if my life depended on it! But i do remember finding it quite relaxing twiddling with all those little biddy squares!
My son wanted one a while back but they were still quite expensive even on Ebay ... so he went without!
Figaro 12-04-2007, 09:36 PM I used to be able to do a rubiks cube. It took me ages to work it out, but I doubt I could remember how to do it now.
There was a kid in my class at school who could complete a rubiks cube when it was behind his back (literally!). He was on some TV show at the time displaying his skill. It was quite an impressive trick.
But if we are talking nostalgia, can anyone remember huala hoops? I loved mine, and they are getting quite fashionable again now. Also, space hoppers are having a bit of a revival, I notice.
Coastie 13-04-2007, 07:34 AM I used to be able to do the rubiks cube...by breaking it up and putting it back together in the right order!
I also had a rubiks snake...I was pretty good at that!
I am gutted that I no longer have my A Team figures...I had the full set and think I had a moment of madness in my late teens and gave them to my friends younger brother...I really want them back now cos they would look fab in my movie room:(
Bonsai 13-04-2007, 12:22 PM My favourite toy when i was a kid was my 2XL http://www.2xlrobot.com/.
I loved it, and would spend hours playing on it. I dont know where it went, but probably my mum and dad gave it to my nephew when he was born (a lot of my good old toys went to my sisters family !!).
I also loved Playpeople. I had the farm, ambulence, fire station .... everything. My mum hated it as i would take over the whole of the lounge floor.
msgirl 13-04-2007, 01:08 PM My most favorite toy was a Mrs. Beasley doll from the show "Family Affair". Alas, it got lost many moons ago and they are quite expensive on e-bay. I so long for one...
Dolores 14-04-2007, 10:14 AM some quite heart breaking stories here ...

obviously some life scarring stories here - are you happy Buzz, happy to have opened up these old wounds?!
which reminds me years ago I had a swing and when we moved my mum and dad sold it for a whole pound (a lot of money in 1970!) and do you know they never ever gave me the pound? oooh I feel all sorts of resentment coming back to the surface - just when I thought the therapy was working too!!!
I wonder how much a pound in 1970 is worth now?

Absolutely - no problems at all with it. It's cathartic(sp?)..does you good to poke a sore now and then..

Seabreeze 14-04-2007, 11:28 AM Last night we were talking about fizzy drinks and someone mentioned Jusoda....a name i`ve not heard of in years. Anyone else remember it
Dolores 14-04-2007, 11:42 AM i've never heard of it. But I do remember an advert where a polar bear was advertising a drink and the catch line was "it's frothy man" - was that jusoda?
Seabreeze 14-04-2007, 11:44 AM Jusoda was a fizzy orange drink much the same as Fanta now. I can remember the bear saying it`s frothy man but I can`t think what it was for though...
Coastie 14-04-2007, 11:51 AM I now have the 'Follow the Bear' bear in my head but can't remember which alcoholic drink it advertised...was it Heinekin? :bag:
Fee For All 15-04-2007, 07:53 PM Creamola Foam. Heaven in a little blue tin.
Rubiks Cube - could never do it.

Slipper 18-04-2007, 06:14 AM Cresta Creame Soda (barff)
Do you remember Amazin Raisin bars. They had a white nougat, caramel and raisin filling with a milk chocolate top and plain chocolate bottom.
The song went:
It's amazing what raisins can do!
All that goodness and it's all for you
It's got two kinds of chocolate and caramel too and it's got raisins and they're good for you
Oh it's amazing what raisins can do!
Also - weren't Curley Wirleys bigger and more caramely and Wagon Wheels - well we just won't go there
Seabreeze 18-04-2007, 06:17 AM I remember those bars - I think they were in a purple wrapper
Dolores 18-04-2007, 07:24 AM Also - weren't Curley Wirleys bigger and more caramely and Wagon Wheels - well we just won't go there
I don't remember the raisin song but I do remember when Curly Wurly's came out - there I was with loads of frizzy curly hair, my nickname at school was Gollywog, Fuzzy ... and when I was with my equally frizzy curly headed brother and sister we were collectively the hair bear bunch! ... and I remember thinking another name to taunt me and my lovely locks with, it was a cruel time pre-perms being fashionable for us curly headed people!!!!
Coastie 21-04-2007, 06:31 AM Coastie me darlin it was Hoffmiester...........:wink2:
It's because it's a lager...I don't drink lager...unless that's all there is...can you still get Hoffmeister?
