Using minced beef. I make half into a very simple bolognaise for the boys and the other half I make into a chilli, adding onion, green pepper, kidney beans, tin chopped toms, tom puree, vinigar, salt, pepper and sugar. And ofcourse chillie powder to taste. I have tried with fresh chilli but actually prefer the powder.

Will serve with Basmati rice, green salad and pitta bread. Oh and lashings of cheese.

Creating a nice alcoholic base for it to land on as we speak.

Vegetable stew and either mash potato or fish pie (got a freezer full of fish pie- I don't really want to eat it, but it was free and I'm skint so eat it or starve :( )

But I am going to have a yummy desert :) of sticky toffee pudding. I made it yesterday but didn't have any room left so tonight's the night.

Grate some cheese on it and it will make it very yummy and pretend you do want to eat it that may help - and make sure you tell yourself you HAVE to eat it so you can have some even scrummy yummier sticky toffee pudding.

I really really really fancy some stick toffee pudding now - my Pork and Pak Choi meal was far too delicious to go without a pud - I am considering using it as one of my 'stock' dinner party dishes [that I get paid to cook for peeps] - it was utterly FABULOUS!! But I need a pud and I can't be bothered to make one now and I haven't a thing ready to eat!:(

Cat we have Subways's over here you know??

I had my first last summer in the States and then found to my delight that they franchised over here and dreamt about one so much that I made my hubby drive 30 miles to the nearest Subway shop to have one - and then 30 miles home - God it was worth every single mile!!

It is a massive sandwich, on a selection of bread [of your choice] with a fabulous selection of meats and/or cheese and/or salads and/or dressing/s - wrapped up in paper - they are just yummy and THE only fast food I would ever consider!

Subway is AMAZING!! :)

I'd never had one before I came to Manchester, but everyone else here seems to like them and there are like over 10 in the city that I got into them... I had a 6" meatball last night, it was gorgeous... though Chicken Tikka is my favourite...

This morning I had Alpen for breakfast, and it was so nice I had some more!

I think it's something like Chili con carne for tea, sounds great, it was horrible yesterday (chicken kiev)...

Tonight we are dining on 'Yummy Yuk'

this is a recipe taken from the Cookery Book me and two friends have compiled and written.

The story was given to us by Jane who gave us the recipe, and is our school secretary. When her children were small, they would ask nightly 'what is for tea Mum??' She would tell them and without fail they would always say 'Yuk'!!

This one particular day she served this dish and they unanimously declared that this was 'Yummy Yuk'.

It is basically sliced, par boiled potatoes layered in a casserole dish, with smoked bacon and onions [freshly sauted] piled on top, covered with another layer of potato, with a generous pouring of white sauce, topped with grated cheese and popped in the oven for 20 mins.

It is indeed 'YUMMY YUK' - try and see for yourselves.

For those that don't know - and I was one of them till last week when my butcher filled me in. But a Romanesque Cauliflower - is perhaps one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen.

You know those computer generated pictures of everending spirals that are just repeated and totally perfect in every way?? Well this cauli is just like that. With spear shaped florets but each one is made up of eensy weensy ini mini spears exactly like its bigger one - and the whole thing looks like a gigantic spiral of ever decreasing mini sprials that look like the bigger one. That was a pants description - but go to the green grocer and check them out - stunning, totally stunning!!

Oh and they taste better than real cauli's!!

I succumbed to temptation and bought a Cadbury's caramel muffin this morning with my paper. It was just one of those weak moments... long queue, big 'NEW' sign, shiny packaging, chocolate.... *sigh*

So it was sitting on my desk all day torturing me. I managed to womanfully resist the siren charms of its thickthickthick chocolate icing for a whole 8 hours... but damn it, I'm only human and I caved in 10 minutes ago.

I so want to say that, but there is too much junk food around the house. We had some friends over tonight and they were offered everything. I want it gone, or rather I want some willpower to not eat it.
