Got 44 to one.) Slipper 12-09-2007, 03:10 PM It was pointed out to me by a collegue that Scotland are ahead of the World Champions.....DOH The French (the hosts) could have to play some of their later games in Wales...YES! Voice of Reason 22-09-2007, 06:55 AM Well, are you english gonna take the title back or will it be an antipodean massacre? I'm hoping for the latter, otherwise my new fellow countrymen and women will make our lives hell, come to think of it they will anyway! Go The All Blacks! :good: survivorfan 22-09-2007, 07:48 AM Hello, she's gone native. Bella 22-09-2007, 10:26 AM Well for obvious reasons I won't be routing the All Blacks on Sunday at Murrayfield. Frank Hadden is not putting his best side out even though he is annoyed at that suggestion - he knows Scotland have not a hope to win agains the All Blacks ( we never have ) and that he needs his best team against Italy. Ireland were careless last night and gave away 5 unnecessary penalties and just to say that France's No 16 was a bit of alright!!! England, I was shocked at their 36-0 defeat by South Africa and hope they can recover from that but can't see them lifting the title this time round. Voice of Reason 22-09-2007, 10:53 AM Hello, she's gone native. Too right! It's called 'Self Presevation' SF! I'm not mad enough to get up in the middle of the night and watch the match live (a lot do) but I did watch the morning replay of the Portugal vs AB match at the gym last week, it was a really nice game! Coastie 23-09-2007, 02:50 AM Ahh England final won a game with a little bit of style...well at the atart and finish anyway. If they don't buck up the middle part of their game they will most certainly be out in the next round. :bored: I love, love, love watching The All Blacks play and would be more than happy to see them win. They really do have a style that is, IMHO, captivating and about the most entertaining there is...the Aussies are good but tend to get a bit agro at times and the S/Africans only ever seem to play dirty so I am not a fan of theirs at all. Since the best teams to watch are The All Blacks and The Aussies I will be quite happy to see that final... England have lost their edge and need to speed up if they are going to get anywhere this time around. Seabreeze 23-09-2007, 07:04 AM England are finding it hard going at the moment but if they concentrate a bit more they could last a bit longer yet but I can`t see them in the finals. Voice of Reason 28-09-2007, 06:04 AM Well the kerfuffle over both Scotland and the ABs wearing an almost identical strip was quite entertaining, it was hard to see who was playing for who most of the time! Not sure about the French ballet interpretation of the Ka mate Haka either! Coastie 29-09-2007, 07:09 AM Oh Voice...I was struggling at times to see who was who to...quite a few people have brought that up so it may be something that the powers of Rugger need to address in the future! Poor ref having to sort that mish mash out time and time again...he did well! England actually showed signs of being able to play a decent game yesterday...they may not be completely anhialated by the Aussies afterall now although I doubt very much they will beat them! Tigereye 01-10-2007, 11:26 AM Not our most inspiring performance yesterday. BO'Ds try was good though. Ah well, only 4 years to wait. Bella 01-10-2007, 04:48 PM What a fab match the Welsh - Fiji game was - sorry to see Wales go but both teams played so well, it's a shame that both of them couldn't go through. The Irish fought well against the Argentines but they were just too good! I was on the edge of my seat in the final minutes of the Scotland - Italy game, especially when all the final action was in the Scottish half! I was waiting on them giving away a penalty but they stood firm and got through, but they are going to have to up their game big time against Argentina. We do have a brilliant kicker in Craig Paterson. Good Luck to Scotland and England in the next round! Coastie 01-10-2007, 06:54 PM Well that's the Welsh and the Irish out...:( and the Welsh are looking for a new boss as a result! England and Scotland are highly unlikely to get through the next round but you never know...miracles do happen! Seabreeze 05-10-2007, 06:33 AM Am hoping Australia and the French are out tomorrow but I think it could possibly be us as he`s changed our team round just when we were coming together Bella 05-10-2007, 11:29 AM It's going to be incredibly tough for the home nations! I just hope the luck from the footall teams in Europe this week, will rub off on our rugby teams! And with Lewis Hamilton within grasp of the World Championship, it could be a fantastic weekend for our British stars! Let's hope so! Seabreeze 06-10-2007, 04:13 PM England 12 - 10 Australia We were awesome today and hopefully perform just as well against France or New Zealand next week. Come on England!! Coastie 06-10-2007, 05:42 PM WE WON! I seriously was on the edge of my seat and didn't believe we were going to win until the whistel went...I am soooo happy! :applause: Well done England for finally playing Rugby again! :applause: Voice of Reason 06-10-2007, 07:51 PM WE WON! I seriously was on the edge of my seat and didn't believe we were going to win until the whistel went...I am soooo happy! :applause: Well done England for finally playing Rugby again! :applause: Thank goodness for that! It's saved us from a Oz Vs AB semi, which would have been a nightmare. There's HUGE sporting rivalry between the two countries (think England vs Germany in Soccer!) so I'm relieved we don't have to go through that. Voice of Reason 06-10-2007, 10:21 PM Oh dear! ABs out to France this morning. Oh well! Seabreeze 07-10-2007, 04:46 AM Well well well................England vs France semi final eh? Who'd have thought it? Got to say, even though France beat the All Blacks, I am little more "hopeful" on reaching the final if our forwards play aswell as they did yesterday and we dont leave any gaping holes in the backs. (New Zealand should have used their forward power more and just get the job done, but wanted to play "pretty" rugby) All we need now is Fiji to be South Africa Coastie 07-10-2007, 01:49 PM We must beat France on their home turf...that would be the best! Wouldn't it be wonderful if the Scots could pull it off and we had a Scotland v England final... Patsy 08-10-2007, 09:41 AM The Scots were unlucky, they put up a brave fight and made a real match of it. Based on South Africa's performance against Fiji, my money's on a France v Argentina final, with France scraping a win on their home turf. Bella 08-10-2007, 10:59 AM Thank goodness for that! It's saved us from a Oz Vs AB semi, which would have been a nightmare. oooh Voice, you were a bit early in presumming that AB would even get to the semis - All credit to France for sending them home with a flea in their ear. Didn't see England's game but superb that they also ditched Austraila, excellent result and the game against France is going to be a good one! At least we will have one team from the Northern Hemisphere in the final and England could just do it! Scotland were unlucky as it was a thrilling game but they made mistakes and it was really unfortunate the way that Argentina scored the try. Scotland just left it too late really. Should be another great match with Argentina against South Africa and to be honest, I don't really know who will be in the final! Voice of Reason 08-10-2007, 09:53 PM oooh Voice, you were a bit early in presumming that AB would even get to the semis - Yes, I was sure they would. Just shows what I know eh? Still, being from the UK I'm used to defeat, so that's ok. Coastie 09-10-2007, 02:42 AM Gutted there wont be a Scotland v England final but now hope that we can whoop the French on their home turf and get Argentina in the final... I want the England rugby team to beat the Argies in the hope that the England football team will learn a little of how this is done! I do forsee a France v S/Africa final now though with S/Africa winning...which would be a shame as I think they are the dirtiest players in the tournament! :mad2: Seabreeze 14-10-2007, 04:57 AM OMG what a nail biting last 10 minutes. Well done England Coastie 14-10-2007, 07:51 AM I had white knuckles by the end of the match... Ruddy well done England...c'mon! :applause: They have already surpassed any expectations so lets see eh!:naughty: Bella 15-10-2007, 08:06 PM Cousin Johnny does it again!! Well done England! We have a Race Night planned for Saturday and I am half thinking of boycotting it in favour of the Rugby final. Coastie 17-10-2007, 05:35 AM You must watch the Rugby Bella even if it may cause high blood pressure and possible heart failure due to the stress of watching may cause...at least if the last two England games are anything to go by! I had a racing heart and white knuckles for the last 10mins of each! Now...will you be supporting England or S/Africa Bella? Bella 17-10-2007, 07:35 AM Now...will you be supporting England or S/Africa Bella? I am shocked you even ask that question..........South Africa, of course!! Seriously, I am backing the England boys and hoping they get their revenge on their previous game with South Africa. I do think they have the willpower to do it! I never thought that they would have got to the final at the begining of this tournament and it's great they have proved the critics wrong! I think we are going to smuggle in a TV screen, so we can get excited about the horse races and even more excited about the rugby. I think I'll have to indulge in some alcohol just to calm me down!! :wink2: Patsy 17-10-2007, 11:07 AM I don't think my nerves can take it. I honestly don't think we'll do it, but like most of the nation I had written them off completely, so I suppose anything can happen now. Hopefully they will have time to teach Martin Corrie how not to give away penalties every time he touches the ball. It would certainly go some way towards silencing the big, stupid gobs of some Irish people I know. Irish people who seem to despise this country which has given them a living and their children an education for so many years. A country which they hate so much, they have bought a cottage in the Lake District for their retirement. Don't get me started. No offense to nice Irish people intended. Coastie 17-10-2007, 08:32 PM I am shocked you even ask that question..........South Africa, of course!! I think I'll have to indulge in some alcohol just to calm me down!! :wink2: Glad to hear it Bella...I just would have loved to have seen the Scots get through aswell cos that Paterson is one hell of a good kicker! Pats...I may have to take some vallium washed down with spirits before I can watch the match...I've run out of finger nails to bite as a result of the last two matches! Seabreeze 21-10-2007, 05:23 AM I'm by far not an expert at these things, but my observations... The try was clearly a try. The penalty was clearly not a penalty. Therefore we won, if only in spirit! Coastie 22-10-2007, 10:21 AM  Gutted but at the same time very proud of our boys... |
