View Full Version : The Apprentice
Anyone watch this? Brilliant as ever.
Thought the person who got fired completely deserved it. Thought that they were a pompous sod who presumed because they had a degree they couldn't be fired.
Idiot.
Lovely to see the rampant Margaret and Nick again thought!
Dolores 26-03-2008, 10:00 PM yes he should have got fired - pompous little prig of a man - but strangely likeable in his "You've been fired" interview I thought.
I thought Alex was a complete numb nuts - I couldnt see him leading a pack of stray dogs let alone 40 sales guys in four teams!!
So far am loving Raef's work!
As for Nick and Margaret - I disagree (as I just wrote on your facebook). The romance has gone out of the relationship as far as Margaret's concerned. i reckon she's moved on to bigger and better things than Nick - but he still loves her and is convinced he will win her back if they get another task on a cruise ship which involves cabins/revolving doors/suitcases/a pack of extra large condoms.
Figaro 27-03-2008, 07:19 AM So far am loving Raef's work!
Oh no, no, no Dol. You've got it wrong! Raef is hugely dislikeable.
....but very watchable in a "love to hate him" kinda way.
Loved it, loved it, loved it.
Nicks comments that he was a cultured man and found it hard to talk about football was the line of the night for me, and Alan Sugars face was a picture. Oh my I larfed!!
Thought Alex made a good show of it in the boardroom tho - he challenged every comment the others made about 'paupers' and 'non educated people'....
and Nick - those sunglasses!!
eidt to agree with Fig - Raef - NO NO NO NO NONONONONONNON what a to$$er
Bella 27-03-2008, 12:31 PM Oh no, no, no Dol. You've got it wrong! Raef is hugely dislikeable.

I thought Raef was hilarous in a cringy sort of way. I reckon he is going to be the guy who is just going to keep digging a bigger hole for himself.
Nicholas, the educated one deserved to go! Can't understand why he, as a fully qualified barrister would be after a job with Sir Alan in the first place? He'll a whack of a lot more as a barrister. He just wasn't cut out to him with those hoodlums who talk about football all the time!
Oh God Buzz, what were those sunglasses all about???
Patsy 27-03-2008, 01:18 PM Loved it, loved it, loved it.

Tigereye 27-03-2008, 03:00 PM SOOOOO glad this is back. Raef is the new Sahid I reckon.
Fee For All 27-03-2008, 09:28 PM The ghastly Nick is as common as muck. His dad's a one-man band solicitor with a back street office in Worthing.

Yes but does he like art and music and struggle with uneducated people who only talk about football???
Bella 28-03-2008, 02:48 PM with uneducated people who only talk about football???
Talk about putting your foot in it.................didn't he know that SAS left school at 16 with no qualifications and that he was involved with Tottenham Hotspur at one point!
Nail and coffin springs to mind!
floopy 29-03-2008, 05:09 PM I think they're all a bunch of irritating tossers, I only watch it for Sir Shug, who appeals to me strangely.....:ninja:
The chiselled-chin rough looking east-ender type is pretty good wallpaper though :w00t:

You've got a point. I think somehow Raef is involved. Maybe Maggie jumped on him, thinking he was a better longer term prospect than Nick?
Nick can't be happy about that...
Unless Nick ran off with Katie from the last series first...?
Coastie 30-03-2008, 08:35 AM Loving it so far...:applause:
Have to say...there is a rather pleasant abundance of eye candy this time around...I rather like the rough Londoner...still haven't learnt any of the names...but hmmm very pleasant viewing and yes the 1st this distingtion that toff definately deserved to go...
Sorry but if my boss asks me to do something it means he has deligated that task to me and trusts me to carry it out. He does not expect to have to go around after me and double check everything I do...the toff obviously felt that the blonde guy should have done that...his mummy probably still wipes his bottom!
Loved it!
Nicholas totally got what he deserved. Anyone who "adds" anything to their name to make them sound more posh is just all wrong.
Didn't like Alex either, or the bird who was in charge of the girl's team - she seemed like a pure cow.
As for Raef, I thought he was hilarious - watching him squirm during Sir Alan's grillings is going to make great TV.
maxine 30-03-2008, 03:07 PM I liked both the team leaders...even had an erotic dream about one of them.
...even had an erotic dream about one of them.
Care to share?? I sincerely hope it was Alex....please....
Dolores 30-03-2008, 08:30 PM I have to say Buzz, neither answer will make me proud to be her sister!!
Seabreeze 31-03-2008, 09:03 AM Harry Hill called it 'The Rolls-Royce of reality shows'
Taken from Digital Spy
Apprentice star Nicholas De Lacy Brown has received death threats from fans of the show.
The trainee barrister was the first contestant to be fired by Sir Alan Sugar when the BBC One series returned on Wednesday night.
Nicholas, who was branded a "toff" by Sir Alan, had boasted about his academic achievements but made crucial mistakes on a fish-selling challenge by offering lobster for just £5 and mislabelling products.
"People have sent me messages saying they want to kill or injure me," Nicholas told the Daily Star Sunday. "One read something like: 'If I see you, I'll hurt you'."
However, Nicholas has remained defiant and insisted that he will not be affected by the threatening messages.
"The abuse I have had does not bother me," he said. "I have had some supportive emails too. I take it all as a compliment. They think they can push me down with this abuse but all it does is pump me up. I realised soon after the show started that it was not for me - it was just such hard work.
"Now my ego is bigger since I went on The Apprentice because of all the attention. In fact, my ego is huge now
I saw about the death threats Mrs SB, and what really irritated me was that no-one has the balls to carry them out  It just goes to show that being an academic does not give you business accumen!!
I loved Alex, mainly as he is so easy on the eye, as is the fella who's pic Floopy posted :naughty:
Raef....what a pompous a$$.....but I think he will be compulsive viewing!!!!
maxine 31-03-2008, 02:02 PM I loved Alex, mainly as he is so easy on the eye,

sorry urk.
Figaro 01-04-2008, 02:10 PM I've got to admit to having a mini crush on Alex, even though he was a bit of a rubbish team leader. But he's very pretty! That photo doesn't do him justice.
The East End boy is quite fanciable too, but I have a sneaking suspicion that he'll turn out to be a bit of an oik.
~ils~ 01-04-2008, 04:13 PM I absolutely love this programme and Nicholas definitely deserved to go this week.
Raef's so awful he is going to be compulsive viewing.
As for the boys, Alex doesn't do it for me but Lee does
http://www.bbc.co.uk/apprentice/images/people/big_LeeMcQueen.jpg
How did I know you would say Alex doesnt do it for you Susie
Im looking forward to watching tonight!!!
~ils~ 02-04-2008, 01:37 PM How did I know you would say Alex doesnt do it for you Susie   You know me too well :wink_kiss
Im looking forward to watching tonight!!!
Me too! :)
This was the best hour of television so far this year tonight. Absolutely brilliant.
I howled and cringed all the way through. Superb.
Best parts were the girls talking like at a tea party in the boardroom and the project manager asking for tips from someone whos washing they mixed up!
Cracking! Wrong decision about the firing though. Either of the others should have gone.
Figaro 02-04-2008, 09:47 PM Totally agree with you there Mars - it was brilliant tonight. I was cringing when the girls were asking for tips after their shoddy service.
Jenny though. Arrrgghhh! She's hideous. Very dictatorial and forceful. She was also quite cliquey. She had her favourites and was indifferent at best, patronising at worst to those who weren't one of the favoured. I don't think Lucinda handled herself well, but I thought Jenny behaved abominably towards her. Frankly, I thought Jenny should've been fired. Bad choice by SAS.
I've warmed to Raef a bit though. He's still pompous and egocentric, but he was a good team leader. The guys seemed to love him. I thought Simon was a bit of a star too.
Bella 03-04-2008, 07:45 AM Jenny has a face like a well-slapped ****!
Lucinda does seem a bit airy-fairy but she did not deserve to be spoken in the manner that Jenny spoke to her. The whole thing of her being Project Manager clearly went to her head and she certainly wanted things to be done her way, and did not work very well as a team leader.
She made the point that Lucinda was the only one who was not at the meeting but in the kitchen, there were only 4 of them!!! Where were the others? I have taken a huge dislike to Jenny, she is too full-on and I certainly would not buy anything from her.
I felt sorry for Shazia as the mistake she made was hardly grounds for sacking her, Jenny should have been sacked for her dictorial behaviour and for her being unable to gel her team together. Urgh, she was just nasty!
Tigereye 03-04-2008, 09:46 AM What a guttersnipe Jenny is. Lucinda is a bit airy-fairy alright, but she didn't deserve a full on bullying session. Maybe because she is softer spoken, a bit more refined and better looking sent Jenny's insecurities spriralling out of control. Ugly to watch.
Loved SAS's face when the girls went into gaggle mode in the boardroom.
Raef looked like a royal prince striding into the ritz followed by his minions! Deserved the win though.
Still waiting for the irish girl to say something.:sleepy: Don't think she's up to Kristina's level...
loving wednesdays....
~ils~ 03-04-2008, 04:25 PM I'm still loving Lee but I have to say Alex did look lovely in his "Superman" PJ's
I thought Raef did well in his role as project manager and the boys seemed to work really well together! The boys did well :applause:
The girls didn't work as a team at all and imo that was the fault of the project manager Jenny. I think she needed to take responsibility for the failure of the team. Shazia was really organised and motivated and it should have been Jenny that was fired and not her.
As for the way Jenny treated and spoke to Lucinda, it was disgusting, it's certainly not the way to get the best out of your co workers.
IMO SAS got it really wrong this week!
You're Fired is a great compainion show, I love almost as much as I love the main show!
Don't miss 'The Apprentice:The Worst Decisions Ever'
Tonight ... BBC2 @ 9pm - 10pm
No way should Shazia have been fired. That should have been dished out to the awful Jenny. What a nasty piece of work.
And Raef is such a pomopus **** - loving him so far.
Coastie 18-04-2008, 08:34 PM Gutted that Simon went this week...:( Soo wrong!
Dolores 18-04-2008, 10:57 PM Gutted that Simon went this week...:( Soo wrong!
oh come on Coastie - he was a knob of the highest order - I'm surprised at you! He was a complete drama queen in front of the camera (and behind it too!). I liked him all the other weeks - but this week as a team leader he showed himself to be weak, weak, weak. And his grovelling, self deprecating manner on the "Your (esp. for Patsy that one!!) Fired" programme was excruitiating to watch ... he did have a rather fine physique though as the last few shots on his "best bits" showed!! (Shallow moi?!) He actually reminded me of Paul Burrell (in IAC) with his over-acting dramatics on the task. I wanted to see him cry actually (gosh I'm a meanie aren't I!!).
Simon really irritated me when he looked like he was going to cry :glare:
Raef is really growing on me  and I like Lee and Alex still....... as for the women, well the only one i thought had anything about her was Claire but she was a bit of a witch in the last task......maybe the Irish girl will come out of herself a bit, I cant remember her name though
If Lucinda cant use a computer WTF is she doing applying to be on The Apprentice???? she is a bit of a ditsy mare, but harmless enough, I dont think she has the strength to go all the way......
Coastie 26-04-2008, 05:48 AM oh come on Coastie - he was a knob of the highest order - I'm surprised at you!
I wanted to squish him and hug him and tell him it was all going to be okay bless him...I guess I liked his work ethic and feel that the others really dropped him in it big time...in hindsight I think they'll regret getting rid of him so early as he was such a grafter for them the previous weeks and a great asset to the team even if he wasn't much of a leader who would work his little socks off to help whoever was...he also reminds me alot of my station boss...he's ex pongo to and uses all the same confused mix of managment babble when talking to us...he is also squishable...bless...we call him Barney as he reminds us of Barney Rubble from the Flintstones... I know we should show more respect :blsuh:
So, its the interviews tonight - always my favourite bit....
im really unsure about who will win now, although I am still backing Claire myself - I think it will be between Lee, Alex and Claire..... watch me get it completely wrong
As long as Claire keeps her neck wound in she should do ok in the interviews....
I have really gone off Alex - I dont even think he is totty anymore as his personality has blown it for him, he tends to sulk like a spoilt brat if someone disagree's with him......which wont bode well in an interview situation.....
I just cant see what Helene has actually contributed, which could be down to editing or she has just faded into the background but i think she may do well tonight - as will Lucinda even though she is a funny kooky one....
Lee is a bit rough and ready which might let him down in the interviews.....
Seabreeze 04-06-2008, 08:20 PM Alex is giving a terrible interview and just counting on his age as some sort of leverage
Lee has made such a bad mistake with his uni time
Bonsai 05-06-2008, 08:12 AM Ive never been a fan of Alex. I dont think he is fanciable either. He pouts, sulks ... and i dont think he is a team player, unless its with his 'buddy' Lee.
Lee's mouth fascinated me last night. It looked like they had had massive amount of botox squirted into them.
Im almost certain that Claire will get the job. She is bolshy and annoying, but she is clever and has many skills which could benefit Sir. Alan. It will be a toss up between her and (i think) Lee.
Bella 05-06-2008, 09:52 AM Totally agree about Alex, never have liked him. He is far too sulky and petulant for my liking! His manner when getting interviewed was very child-like with all his sighing and my God how many times did he have to tell us his age?? He works for a flipping supermarket, loads of 24 year old do. I mean it's not that great an achievement is it? Can't stand him and thought it was incredibly rude of him to have a go at Lucinda in the board room............I hope to God he doesn't win!
Having slagged off Claire in the past, to me she is the only one that shone last night. She knows her goals and even though she is gobby, she will get results. My worry is that she is with Lee next week and he could really let her down as he does struggle with presentation, but then again so does Alex (he really needs a slapped bottom, but not in a sexual way!)
So out of the four who are left, I would rather it was Claire or Lee, as Alex is just not my cup of tea and Helene is a bit of a bully.
~ils~ 05-06-2008, 10:48 AM It's Claire all the way for me! I just I hope Lee doesn't ruin her chances of winning!
I can't stand any of the other 3! :mad2:
Patsy 05-06-2008, 12:56 PM I just don't know if SAS will go for Claire. I think he will be too concerned at her willingness to be taught anything.
I have a funny feeling he may go for Lee, if they're the winning team. If it's the other team, then he'll probably go for Alex.
Groucho 09-06-2008, 02:35 PM Cant stand Alex, he's reasonably smart and a decent salesman, but he spends way too much time knifing up his colleagues in the boardroom.
There was no reason for him to say what he did about Lucinda, she was going anyway.
He just showed himself up as a person who is prepared to trample over anyone to get what he wants.
survivorfan 09-06-2008, 03:31 PM Following last night's 'why I sacked them' show I'll stick my neck out and predict:
- claire won't win because she's an abrasive character
- helene won't win because she spent too long in a corporate environment
- lee won't win because he doctored his CV and the whole nation now knows
- alex will win by default.
Figaro 10-06-2008, 01:53 PM I'm gonna go for Helene.
Not because I think she should win (out of the available candidates, I'd most like it to go to Lee), but because past experience of this show has taught me that SAR always seems to choose what I think would be the least likely candidate. Which is Helene this time.
survivorfan 10-06-2008, 02:05 PM For the final is it the case that the pair who lose the task will automatically leave? Irrespective of whoever Sugar might have already had in mind as his 'apprentice'?
Groucho 10-06-2008, 02:13 PM If Lee doesn't balls it up for her, Claire will win.
It's a womans turn to win and she's clearly the best of the final four.
MariaRob 10-06-2008, 03:00 PM It says on Diggie Spy who wins.
Its been enjoyable this year but more about "characters" than business acumen and none of them in the "top four" have done anything especially to merit them being in the final IMO, apart from perhaps Claire.
Figaro 10-06-2008, 05:03 PM It says on Diggie Spy who wins.
No way! Crikey, I'll have to avoid the place.
Its been enjoyable this year but more about "characters" than business acumen....
That's true. It's just a shame that the year they chose to focus on characters was the year that they didn't have any real "characters".
This has been the one year where there hasn't really been anyone that I've found particularly funny, or likeable or even dislikeable. In previous series there's usually been someone that most people would form a strong opinion about - people like Tre Azam, Katie Hopkins, Ruth Badger, Sayed Ahmed etc, but the contestants in this series have been for the most part, really quite bland and unremarkable. I found redhaired Jenny mildly dislikeable but not as slimy as Sayed or as dastardly as Katie, Claire has been the best candidate but she couldn't hold a candle to Ruth Badger, I found Raef quite likeable and amusing but he didn't make me laugh out loud like Tre.
I've enjoyed the series despite the contestants rather than because of them. This year has just lacked anyone memorable.
Patsy 10-06-2008, 09:23 PM I agree. :)
Bonsai 11-06-2008, 08:21 AM For the final is it the case that the pair who lose the task will automatically leave? Irrespective of whoever Sugar might have already had in mind as his 'apprentice'?
Yes, that is indeed the case.
I cant believe Digital Spy is ruining it for everyone :( I go on there a lot .... and will have to shut my eyes and try not to see it. I dont want to know until tonight.
I am so excited I could pee :kid:
Tigereye 11-06-2008, 10:43 AM Oh tonight is the Final final? I thought that two would go tonight and the final was next week.
Ooooh I'll have to cross me legs until nine tonight.
Patsy 11-06-2008, 01:08 PM I was watching GMTV this morning, as you do, and they were saying that people are saying this year's has been the best series so far. What have they been watching? It has been the worst in every way.
Groucho 11-06-2008, 10:26 PM Lee was ok, scrubs up well with a shave, doesn't he?
But, for me Claire was the better candidate and far more business-like.
You cant just base a career on "passion", you have to be ordered and logical as well.
That's what I'm tawkin' abaht!
floopy 12-06-2008, 06:38 AM I think they're all a bunch of irritating tossers, I only watch it for Sir Shug, who appeals to me strangely.....:ninja:

Ah I've seen these before, they are absolutely brilliant.
The ones of Katie last year are amazing, especially when Adam gets fired!
Groucho 12-06-2008, 10:44 PM Just looking at the late night programme on the BBC iPlayer again, and dont get me wrong, I would definitely love to spend time having a bounce up and down on Claire, but, wtf has she done with her hair??
It looks like it's been dragged back and held, ready for the real hair designer to come in and finish it off!
Patsy 13-06-2008, 08:32 AM I thought it looked quite nice, actually.
When you say "bounce", I'm guessing you don't mean in a bouncy castle kind of way.
Groucho 13-06-2008, 08:40 AM I'm talking bounce up and down, get hot and sweaty, exchange bodily fluids kind of way.
I reckon she's great fun in the sack. :applause:
Patsy 13-06-2008, 11:52 AM Yes, that's what I thought you meant. You know what those northern girls are like.
Fee For All 13-06-2008, 08:09 PM I was watching GMTV this morning, as you do, and they were saying that people are saying this year's has been the best series so far. What have they been watching? It has been the worst in every way.
I enjoyed this series more than last. There were too many contestants I just couldn't bear to watch last year.
Patsy 14-06-2008, 09:38 AM Too many contestants, as in too many contenders? I suppose I can see where you're coming from there. There were really only 3 this year.
Fee For All 14-06-2008, 10:41 AM I suppose what I mean is, I just didn't care enough about any of last year's. Nobody interesting to support, and the 'baddies' were too obviously self-promoting to boo-hiss at.
Last year seemed to be more about being on the telly; this year I felt the prog was more about having contestants that wanted to win.
'Apprentice' aides approached for 'Strictly'
Apprentice aides Nick Hewer and Margaret Mountford have been approached to star in Strictly Come Dancing.
The pair, who advise Sir Alan Sugar on the BBC show, have reportedly been offered £25,000 each to appear in the dance contest's next series.
A source told the Mail on Sunday: "Nick and Margaret are the unacknowledged stars of The Apprentice and more and more people have been watching it because of them.
"They have really interesting, understated personalities and some of their reactions to what the candidates do in Sir Alan's tasks are wickedly funny."
A BBC spokesperson declined to comment on the reports, saying: "Nothing is confirmed yet."
Hewer, 64, is said to be on the verge of signing for the show and is hoping to persuade Mountford, a 55-year-old lawyer, to appear with him.
I don't watch Strictly Come Dancing, but this would be amazing.
Figaro 17-06-2008, 12:50 PM That'd be class! :w00t: They'd be voted out within the first 3 weeks of course, but it'd be cracking to see them have a go.
If I'm honest though I really don't like the idea of them appearing on "Strictly Come Dancing". The thing that makes Nick and Margaret such good background entertainment on The Apprentice is that they are just being themselves. They aren't playing to the camera or trying to be celebrities while on the show.
I reckon that if they start being branded as "celebrities" and getting extra work on alternative shows on that basis, it'll turn their heads and they'll start acting like t.wats.
MariaRob 17-06-2008, 02:27 PM I doubt if this will happen. I understand that Margaret does not like the limelight.
Dolores 17-06-2008, 05:02 PM I doubt if this will happen. I understand that Margaret does not like the limelight.
her lips may say that but her coiffered hair, manicured nails and sparkly knickers tell a different story!!!!
sparkly knickers
How do you know?
You been talking to Nick again?
