View Full Version : Well done GBP - the butler gets the boot. Normal1 06-12-2004, 09:13 PM Yes, the oily butler goes back to shining shoes and Joe Pinkjackobs gets the crown. Job done. See ya next year. Kazzie 06-12-2004, 11:02 PM Oh give it a rest you big girls blouse. He's gone now and you can sleep easy tonight. At least he's back to reality! ( Its been fun reading your opinions though lol) Normal1 06-12-2004, 11:06 PM Mwah..love you too. Vazler 06-12-2004, 11:39 PM Thank god the drama queen didnt win! Critique 07-12-2004, 12:30 AM Yes it's nice to see that the GBP recognised the outstanding contribution made to the show by having a squeaky voice, an obsession with emus and saying "Jacobs" all the time. Mwaaaaah Vaz  Vazler 07-12-2004, 12:49 AM LOL, hey the emu's had more backbone than Paul! Maybe thats why Joe preferred their company! Mwahaha! (added) Probably had bigger Jacobs than Paul too, ROFL Bella 07-12-2004, 06:54 AM Yes it's nice to see that the GBP recognised the outstanding contribution made to the show by having a squeaky voice, an obsession with emus and saying "Jacobs" all the time. Mwaaaaah Vaz  Lol Critique! Like or not Norm, the GBP that you so kindly thank voted Paul second, and a very close second at that! That said, I am pleased that Joe won, he is such a sweetheart. He maybe wasn't as controversial as the others, but he does deserve his crown. He is a genuine bloke and it is always nice when the nice guy wins through in the end. kina 07-12-2004, 07:07 AM What is so great about screeming butler? Ceridwen 07-12-2004, 07:28 AM Well, the winner never does anything after anyway, so I shall now look forward to "Tonight with Paul Burrell", Burrell advertising sofas, Burrell as the new face of Currys, a new Saturday night game show with Burrell, Burrell's "How Clean Is Your House"?, Butler Swap, etc etc etc... christine 07-12-2004, 07:48 AM Well, the winner never does anything after anyway, so I shall now look forward to "Tonight with Paul Burrell", Burrell advertising sofas, Burrell as the new face of Currys, a new Saturday night game show with Burrell, Burrell's "How Clean Is Your House"?, Butler Swap, etc etc etc... How true LOL, he will have some game show 'what the butler saw' and do adverts for cooking aids, cleaning liquids etc :) Bonsai 07-12-2004, 09:05 AM I was soooooo pleased when Paul got voted out. Over the last few days he was seriously annoying me, what with his constant references to his 'actor friend' Tom Hanks, and his snivelling attitude. How peed off was he about the BTT because "Janet took his star !!". He looked all set to stamp his feet and storm off back to camp with his thumb in his mouth. As Janet SP always said "its only a game Paul". Bella 07-12-2004, 10:05 AM As Janet SP always said "its only a game Paul". Ah yes, a game that she wanted to win! Bonsai 07-12-2004, 10:08 AM Im sure she did want to win it ...... after all, why else go into a gameshow, if not to win. BUT thats all it was, a game - but some people took it too seriously. I would hate to play Monopoly with Paul Burrell - i think he would cry if he lost  sayangmouse 07-12-2004, 04:50 PM How true LOL, he will have some game show 'what the butler saw' and do adverts for cooking aids, cleaning liquids etc :) And don't forget Brian's ads for fly spray kina 08-12-2004, 06:02 AM i must say, I'm going to mis him. He made great deal of the game this year. And I m never going to see butlers the same way again. Dolores 08-12-2004, 07:45 AM Yes, the oily butler goes back to shining shoes ah yes! equilibrium will be restored and everyone will know their place in society. Burrell is indeed a monster for daring to break out of the straitjacket the media has stitched him into. :glare: Normal1 08-12-2004, 11:38 AM ah yes! equilibrium will be restored and everyone will know their place in society. Burrell is indeed a monster for daring to break out of the straitjacket the media has stitched him into. :glare: The media? Why blame them? He didn't need to sell his story did he??? He didn't need to appear in IAC did he? He chose his career as a a butler didn't he?? Vazler 08-12-2004, 03:43 PM Yeah come on, had his gums not flapped, the media would have had nothing to print, there would have been no book to be published and he would have not been on that show. The media did not stitch him up into any straight jacket, people all have their own opinions and contrary to popular belief, a lot of people do not take the papers words as gospel. Paul chose his own path in life, he made the choices. To be honest, I think many people are niave if they think he told his story just for the greater good and because he thought it was the write thing and all those other lame excuses. Like the majority, I bet he did it for the money, I bet he got a great payload from it, does that make him good or bad? Would you have done the same if it had made you well off financially? Thats for everyone to decide for themselves, there are very few things in life that are black and white, right or wrong, sometimes there is a middle ground believe it or not. I dont hate Paul, but at the same time I dont really like him. alienrabbit 08-12-2004, 04:00 PM Without the media Paul Burrel would be a retired butler come florist.....with a considerably smaller bank balance. He states in the Daily Mirror the show healed him. Finally someone challenged him...do you think Aunty Janet will get a thankyou letter for all the counselling? Ceridwen 08-12-2004, 04:02 PM I think Aunty Janet needs counselling herself if she thinks she told him something he hasn't heard a million times before. For those not aware, the main job of a counsellor is to listen - not really JSP's forte I would say... Dolores 08-12-2004, 04:57 PM The media? Why blame them? He didn't need to sell his story did he??? He didn't need to appear in IAC did he? He chose his career as a a butler didn't he??How can you ever say the media had nothing to do with the demonisation of Paul Burrell -it's just utter tosh! The meda are deft at approaching vulnerable people and making them feel that they are special and their story is worth selling when all any of them care about is sales, which is fine - but don't pretend it's anything more noble than that! Normal1 08-12-2004, 06:42 PM How can you ever say the media had nothing to do with the demonisation of Paul Burrell -it's just utter tosh! The meda are deft at approaching vulnerable people and making them feel that they are special and their story is worth selling when all any of them care about is sales, which is fine - but don't pretend it's anything more noble than that! Vulerable people!!! Ha! Oh, that is funny, I am peeing myself laughing. Haven't has such a laugh since my granny whipped out her dentures to crimp home made pasties when I was a kid... This is a guy who goes on cruises and speaking tours in the USA being paid to talk about his former boss, this is a guy who has written a book, this is a guy who now has a very good standard of living......thanks to his "vulnerablity"... Dolores 08-12-2004, 06:47 PM I give up! You Burrell haters are beyond reasoning and so very silly sometimes! TbiEitst 08-12-2004, 07:53 PM Before this all started I didn't hate any of the celebs this year. In fact I thought the list was rather irksome - too many minor has-beens IMO. Now, I still don't hate them, or particularly like them either. After the highs and lows of all the emotion and physical excess on their part I actually don't give a hoot anymore. JSP is still an annoying, opinionated cow, Burrell is still a butler with a sordid past, Joe is the comedian with the annoying voice, Fran - Fran who blah blah! The rest - WHO??? The show was a laugh and a good one at that but without certain personalities (JSP, PaulB) it would have been dire. They made it fun for two weeks and now it's finished for them they should all be lost in obscurity once more. Sadly the media will drag them all out over the coals and milk every story of their 'camp' for days to come - and yeah I'lll watch it all too, like the rest of us I suppose. I only hope and pray that if this show is repeated for a fifth time the format is a least changed slightly and we can watch 10 (11?) more 'celebs' come into the heart of a craving public once more. Who won IACGMOOH? - Ant and Dec Again. :bye: smilersmurf 08-12-2004, 08:02 PM Who won IACGMOOH? - Ant and Dec Again. :bye: You are so right! Eternity 08-12-2004, 08:17 PM I give up! You Burrell haters are beyond reasoning and so very silly sometimes! I wholeheartedly agree with you Dolores, especially the latter bit! Vazler 08-12-2004, 11:29 PM You Burrell haters are beyond reasoning and so very silly sometimes! In all fairness, the same could be said for the Burrell lovers. Plenty of people have calmly and civilly given reasons as to why they dislike him, if you disagree that is your right, but to just say they are beyond reasoning because their views differ from yours is a little narrow minded dont you think? See this is a comment you made... The meda are deft at approaching vulnerable people and making them feel that they are special and their story is worth selling when all any of them care about is sales And as I have said previously in other places, you are rather niave if you think the people are vulnerable and just selling their stories to feel special. Its about the money plain and simple. They arent forced to sell their stories, they just get a payload off anything they can sell and you never hear them complaining about all the money they make off it do you? You only hear them say how hard things are, yeah im sure they are aching inside all the way to the bank. |
