Here you go folks, a site to post what you love or hate most about GMTV.

Personally I cant stand Penny "I love me who do you love" Smith

I endure it. I work online at home and try to get through my overnight emails and stuff before someone comes down and turns it on (sigh).

I prefer it when it's presented by people I feel neutral about (John Stapleton, Penny Smith) because I can filter it out and get on with work. When people I like are presenting (Kate Garaway, Andrew Castle, Jenni Falconer, Ben Shephard) I get distracted and frequently just surrender to the inevitable and watch it. But presenters whose style I don't enjoy (Eammon Holmes, Lorraine Kelly) and the one I'm never really sure about (Fiona Phillips) really mess my mornings up.

I suppose I could move my PC into the study, but then I'd never get to see the telly!

GMTV? Honestly, I prefer silence.

I thoght there was another thread on this somewhere? I certainly remember typing something that isn't on this particular thread about Fiona and Eammon? Strange things are happening!Anyway i can't be bothered typing them in again!

I was addicted to RI:SE when it was on - yes folks I was THE viewer! and after that ended I found it very difficult to get back into the staid format of GMTV, although I do watch it sometimes.

Oh no for me it's Fiona - she is a horrible person! I've never liked her since she came back of her first maternity leave and said "we're the original, the best ... it's Fiona and Eammon" - completely dissing those who'd filled her shoes more than adequately! Stoopid woman!

I like looking at Kate, even though she has a long neck. Fi-ona and Eammon are just fine, homely and with their hearts in the right place.

Thing is there is no news on it really, take it from me the Weather is awful. The two, ahem, "weather presenters" are mince, the grahics are crap and oh my god don't let GMTV do any weather feature as they are the absolute limit. make sure you ALWAYS get your weather from the BBC.

Mind you watching the other 2 on BBC is worse, dry and sickly.

Ben Shepherd seems wedded to celebs so is unsuitable for main presenting, that gangly jenny was rubbish (as ben was last time) at doing the IAC links - too fake.

I like ANdrew castle as he can get cross with guests and his hair can move around in circles at times. Him and Kate are a good replacement.

I mean what else are you going to watch apart from Spongebob?

I like Andrew aswell. I think he has worked hard to ovecome his initial frostiness (IMO) and doesn't cosy up to celebs too much.

I think i agree with everything you have put above - although what do you mean about Andrew Castles hair

I really dislike Penny Smith. She just witters away thinking she is funny and cracking some god awful jokes. She is always butting into the other presenters interviews, and i cringe every time she is on the telly. She is only any good at reading the news, although she is always clearing her throat and making some stupid joke before she hands back to the main presenters.

I love Andrew Castle and Kate Garraway. They are both naturals and i love it when they fill in for about 10 weeks over the summer when Fiona and Eamon are off work. They should definately give them the job full time.

Eamon and Fiona are ok, although in small doses. I like Eamon more. Fiona is like a simpering school girl most of the time and her interview technique is pretty pants.

Ben Sheppard and Jenny were good, but i think they have lost the edge now. Ben is permanently acting the fool, and Jenny is too glamourous to be on GMTV. She is the next Cat Deeley.

As for Lorraine, i cant stand her - and i turn off when her show comes on. I cant believe that she now presents This Morning 3 days a week too

As for the weather girls, i like them both. Mr hubby fancies one of them, but i cant remember their names

I always liked Kate Garraway until i read that she'd gone to some film premiere (some animated film) and she was (allegedly) outraged to be sat amongst "nobodies" and complained loudly until it was pointed out to her that she was actually sat with the animators, script writers and producers! It just tinged my opinion of someone who is in effect themselves a nobody (cos this is she how she presents herself in my opinion, "the everso 'umble Kate Garraway who no man finds attractive" - oh yeh!)

I enjoy GMTV and I like Eammon Holmes and the sparring with Fiona. I cannot stand the supercilious and rather odd Penny Smith. There is another woman I absolutely detest - Jackie someone - blonde hair - I remember her interviewing Holley Wells/Jessica Chapman's grandparents just after they disappeared and was asking them the most ridiculous insentivie questions, that woman should have been sacked!

No not Jackie Brambles, she is an interviewer, she had light blonde hair cut in a pudding basin cut. On another note I cannot stand seeing Lorraine Kelly's tits constantly hanging out, she looks ridiculous at her age and its inappropriate for that time of day!

I haven't watched GMTV since the days of Anne Diamond:cool2:

But Isleofweather, is it just me or is it the whole of itv who do rubbish weather reports. I always go interactive to see the bbc weather, at least you get to see a bit of the radar sequences on there. I can't stand itv weather. Just a few clouds/sun/rain signs and people will be happy, yeh right.

LMAO - I wish some I had to hang out at my age!!!

Cos if I did they would be out there!!!

I love GMTV - but my only problem with it is that it repeats itself over the morning, I tend to swtich on at about 6.30 and it remains on until [on various tvs] Trisha starts her show and then it is OFF!

I know they are doing the same thing for people who get up later - but it knda irritates me and I feel cheated somehow.

The weather*, I agree, is useless - and take no notice of any ITV weather at all. I always switch over to the BBC for the weather it is far more reliable.

* the weather always fills me with horror to be honest!! Do you remember Wincy Willis?? Well she worked at Tyne Tees tv when I did - and I was once mistaken for her and chased up 3 flights of stairs before I maanged to hide in a broom cupboard for fear of being berated about the pants forecast!!!! [not that I am proud of this moment!!]

Yes correct, ITV employ "weather presenters" BBC have Meteorologists who present - big diff.

Channel 4 and 5 is a mockery also. Stick with Peter Cockcroft on the beeb. That said the farming forecast half way through Countryfile is the best of the week (voice in head says:stop brian, you have gone to far and in too deep again, they will think you mad..)

I like Kate and Andrew, not keen on John Stapleton, also like Eammon, but have gone off Fiona recently. She writes a column in "the mirror" on a Saturday and it's usually centred around the guest or topics of conversation that have already featured on GMTV. It's almost like her chance to say things that she couldn’t say on TV about her guests, I suppose she has to remain a bit impartial when interviewing but it all comes out in the column. One thing I found really annoying was a couple of weeks ago on GMTV she was talking about the Band Aid 20 song and going on about what a fuss Bono was making about wanting to sing that line, she was saying she didn't know why he would want to sing that line anyway as it's a morbid one. She wrote exactly the same thing again in the paper on the following Saturday, I thought it was a bit lazy as it is well documented by Bono in plenty of interviews why that line means so much to him and she should have done her research before slagging him off about it.

I only really watch the news hour on GMTV and then about 10 mins of the "real" programme before I leave for work but the same items are covered about ten times in the space of 40 minutes, and the outside reporters are abysmal. Totally agree about that Jackie woman (is it Jackie Cabler? sp?) she is dreadful and always seems really gleeful about tragic stories and gets so over excited about silly news items. Ben Sheppard and (I forget her name! Scottish girl) are suited well on entertainment today, although not sure if this is still on. Ben should stick to entertainment though as I remember when he got to sit on the sofa with the big boys and looked a work experience school boy in his big suit and tie.

I watch it because I like to hear noise in the background in the morning and grasp some of the days news. I find the alternative (BBC) a bit too heavy, they always seem to be interviewing politicians :sleepy:

how cringingly embarrassing was Fiona this morning on GMTV at the news of Jose Morinho's resignation? I blushed for the foolish middle aged woman goofing off like a demented 16 year old on heat!

I used to quite like Fiona but recently she has gone off the boil. Andrew and Kate have a much better chemistry and Ben needs someone younger to be with him. Fiona is like his mum!

Penny Smith is terrible. She tries to make jokes which just don`t work and she really thinks she`s something special
