Sylvia in Stilettoes 09-12-2004, 10:15 PM G4 Song Choices
Creep by Radiohead
Somebody To Love by Queen
Nessun Dorma by Puccini
Steve Song Choices
Against All Odds (Take A Look At Me Now) originally by Phil Collins and also covered by Mariah Carey & Westlife
(Your Love Keeps Lifting Me) Higher And Higher originally by Jackie Wilson
Smile originally by Charlie Chaplin and covered by Robert Downey Jnr
I'm pretty certain these are accurate so no proviso this week. :)
Bella 10-12-2004, 11:09 AM Thanks Sylv! I'll be taping the final as I won't be here tomorrow. Haven't G4 done Somebody to Love before and Steve has done Smile hasn't he?
Creep by Radiohead, interesting choice....mmm, don't know what to think of that and Nessum Dorma should be a doddle for them.

You are right about those two songs being done before.
I believe that 'Creep' was the song G4 did when five were cut to three and I've read that will be the single released if they win. :)
Coastie 10-12-2004, 02:42 PM I'm very excited! :cool2:

So am I.........aren't we sad.
Dolores 10-12-2004, 05:20 PM Whilst I'm excited ... I'm also confused as to how they are going to fill two hours worth of show with two singers, neither of whom have a great deal of range. However, rest assured I shall be watching as I wont give up until the bitter end!
I hear that Simon is planning another series of the X-factor! which is nice.
*Rachel* 10-12-2004, 07:59 PM I think too many series of shows like this kills the whole excitment of the winner!

You are probably right there,Rachel. :)
Anyway the list above is incorrect because on Xtra-Factor they said that G4 would be doing Bohemian Rhapsody.........again.(Why am I tempted to post 'one trick pony?)
hmmmmm Im not so sure about G4 doing Creep..... its one of my fave songs by radiohead.......but then I really cant see the fuss about G4, I was convinced that Tabby was going to win!
My reasoning for this - I would probably go out and buy a CD that Tabby makes, but there aint no chance I would buy a CD from G4! Yes they have talent, but its not "mainstream" is it?
Creep should be interesting and I'm glad G4 are going back to their roots and doing something operatic.
I wouldn't have thought Against All Odds was quite Steve's style (I had it down for Tabby), but we'll see. Higher And Higher should suit him and it's an upbeat number to balance Against all odds.

3 singers with 2 songs each (last week) is the same as 2 singers with 3 songs each (this week)

It'd be nice to think we'd heard the swansongs of the Toadman and the Aging Vamp, but unfortunately it appears not. On ITV2 last night, after the results, Simon Cowell confirmed that they'll be returning for the next series. I don't think anyone actually used the phrase "grudge match" but that seemed to be the general thrust of the reasoning.
Not sure I'll be inviting those two deeply unpleasant people into my living room again.

Not sure I'll be inviting those two deeply unpleasant people into my living room again.I hoped that he would be chosing different judges! Perhaps the odious Pete Walkman and the talentless Geri Halliwell! Let's face it there are no other judges of Simon's calibre and whether his person wins or not he is unfailingly the judge who offers the most professional criticism.
There are reasonable people on the "professional TV judge" circuit. Nicky Chapman's okay, and David (Grant?) the male half of the Fame Academy married couple, for example.
But why do they have to use famous people? The music industry must be full of genuine experts who work below the radar. I'd be far more interested in their opinions than those of Itchy & Bitchy.
Dolores 12-12-2004, 09:00 AM I always liked and admired Nigel thingymajing from the original Pop Stars programme. But then i never got the impression that he was out for self publising like Shaz and Louis are. ..... and it has to be said to a certain extent Mr Cowell!
