Steve's two performances has shuddered me timbers.

G4 have done well, but they should not/could not/cannot win.

Louis and Sharon have finally proven themselves to be such t0ssers. Sharons comment about steve describing his girlfried as a Volvo was beyond contempt...it was pure spite. Steve kept cool, must have heard me shouting at the TV.

Simon played the game magnamously by upping G4.

Louis will be G4's downfall, the bloke is a Plonker with a capital P.

After Louis' earlier badly thought out experiments attempting to show G4's diversity which could have so easily cost them their route through to the final, the boys were back to doing what they do best.

Nessun Dorma: Stunning. It sent a tingle down my spine and almost brought me to tears.
Bohemian Rhapsody: Amazing
Creep: Not many groups could cover this and make it their own, but G4 did. Fantastic.

I imagine any of the judges, not just Louis would struggle to find songs that suit G4 because what's become blatantly obvious throughout the course of the competition is the only people who know what's good for G4 is G4. They're not music graduates for nothing. Let’s face it, people who are more used to managing bands with dubious vocals outside the mixing suite like Westlife, aren’t going to be experts in operatic harmonies.

That’s one of the things that has made this final interesting. Neither Simon or Louis are working with teenagers who can be moulded into a one hit wonder performing puppet . G4 and Steve both know their strengths and weaknesses by now and hopefully whoever wins this won’t be persuaded to sell out.

Smile: Steve has a lovely quality to his voice and those twinkling eyes and cheeky smile are enough to melt any girls heart. What’s more he seems like a really decent bloke with a genuine humility regardless of Sharon's petty remarks.
Higher and Higher: Very good, though preferred the other two songs.
I thought Steve’s performance of Against All Odds was rather more than “ok”. I don’t know what planet Sharon is on, but Steve gave that everything he’d got, he understood every word, and you could see he was emotionally drained by the end of it. I thought it was an extraordinary performance.

If G4 lose this, they have Sharon and Louis to thank. Particularly Sharon who’s personal slating of Steve was well below the belt and totally uncalled for. Those remarks alone could have very well handed it to Steve on a plate.

Then we come to Simon. What a turn around! Before the competition, loathed and loved in equal measure, but always the bad guy. Louis from being just another judge hanging onto Simon’s coat tails, has decided that he wants a bit of the action for himself. Unfortunately, he has neither the wit, the wisdom or the charisma to be loved, merely loathed. Simon on the other hand has hardly put a foot wrong. I’m not saying he doesn’t know what he’s doing, because I’m 100% sure he does know. His reluctance to diss G4 and join in Sharon and Louis’ childish games isn’t because he’s turned over a new leaf, but because he knows that by doing so he is securing even more votes for Steve. A shrewd move by anyone’s standards.

I’ve enjoyed this competition because compared to others of a similar ilk, I really do think they’ve discovered some talent. The last four acts in particular, whether to my taste or not, all had something uniquely special about them and any one of them deserved to win.

Anyway, who do I want to win. I like Steve, I like his voice and I like him as a person and I prefer Simon to Louis any day. However, I’m going to use the tingle factor to judge this one. G4 do it for me every time, so that’s where my vote is going.

Excellent post Nox, and well summed up! I feel it was close until the 'manager' factors kicked in and swayed the vote Steves way. I liked both acts, but felt that even the members of G4 were starting to do a 'Louis'.

Simon - well, I rate him as one of the best in the business, he knows his art very well, and although horribly blunt, he does always say what I feel - so he has my respect.

I am pleased for Steve, he really needed this, and G4 will still go on and be big anyway, win or lose!

BTW - I'm passing around the hat for Heronvoy so if everyone could contribute so he can afford a taxi home when the party's over.

Never mind Heronvoy and better luck next time. It could so easily have gone the other way.

I've never been their biggest fan but tonight I thought they were the best of the two.
But as others have said, Sharon's comments swayed it, I think.
And I wished G4 would have stopped with the sign language of "phone G4" at every opportunity.

But, well done to Steve, and good luck to G4.

Glad Steve won in the end. I was a bit disappointed that G4 did Bohemian Rhapsody again - wasn't keen on it last week and on the spoiler it said they were going to do Somebody to Love - was looking forward to that. Maybe they changed their mind at the last minute. I loved "Creep" though - hadn't heard it before but determined to get it now.

Steve had a couple of "wobbles" but I still think he will make good records. He has a nice voice and with proper editing and tweaking he will sound brilliant on disc. His live performance is good enough, especially as he will be drowned out by squealing girls everywhere he appears :laugh:

I thought the fact that he could hardly get through his song at the end was very "human" and showed just how emotional and excited he was. I loved the way he kept cracking up.
