THE I’m A Celebrity bubble has burst — with Sheila Ferguson’s comeback single selling just 55 copies on its first day.
The ex-Three Degrees star — who shared a bubble bath with winner Joe Pasquale — hoped for a Christmas hit with A New Kind of Medicine.

But it is likely to crawl in at No 145 when Sunday’s Christmas chart is announced. Meanwhile Band Aid’s Do They Know It’s Christmas shifted over 55,000 copies on Monday, making it almost a dead cert for Christmas No 1.

An I’m A Celeb insider said: “The show is traditionally a fantastic platform for a comeback.

“But none of the stars this time have landed massive deals.”

Celebrities have queued up to do the ITV show to boost their careers after 2003 contestant Linda Barker landed lucrative ad deals.

Joe Pasquale is in talks with Jacob’s Crackers to appear in ads, while Sophie Anderton has landed high-profile modelling jobs.

But other contestants are yet to make their fortune.

Brian Harvey is still talking about a pop comeback, but an autobiography is in doubt after his former East 17 bandmate Tony Mortimer and ex-girlfriend Danniella Westbrook consulted lawyers to stop him spilling secrets.

I’m A Celeb ratings have also fallen short. The final notched up just 8.3 million viewers. But 14.1 million saw singer Kerry McFadden win the last series in February.

I thought selling 55 copies would get her in at number one these days.:wink2:

I wonder if it was our poster/Sheila fan, Gratian who bought all 55 copies for him/her self:laugh:

I read this on Yahoo this morning, and i thought it was hilarious. Why do these people go on IAC to kick start their careers, why cant they just go for the experience, like John Lydon did ?

The former Three Degrees star ought to make a 180 degree turn away from any comeback hopes. I thought her new single might have been titled "EXACTLY!"

Oh well that's 50 more than she would have done had she not been on IAC.

I wonder if we're nearing the end of the road for this type of reality tv.

I was only wondering the same thing the other day Nox!

O/T - I'm actually surprised she has sold so many

Such pessimists. As long as Ant & Dec are hosting that show people will watch it. Okay, the format could be improved a little but I still love it as much as when it began. I think it would have been fun to have seen Fran have to wrestle the crocs in that pool but something tells me they were extremely well fed only moments before....just an inkling! It's the only reality show I watch apart from Celebrity BB - I don't have the appetite for watching "normal" folk prepare eggs benedict over the kitchen counter or chase chickens around a compound yard. Doesn't appeal.

He is as desparate as any celeb to get exposure and he went by one of the easiest routes possible.

As for Sheila's record sales, well if her dress sense is anything to go by, the song probably displays all the worst things about the 1980s!

I have to say that the music business is a funny old business indeed though, when Steve who is mediocre at best will probably go to number one with 1000s of cd sales.
