I think most of us could be interested in a new series that starts on ITV on Saturday 1st January 2005 at 7pm....

It is presented by former I'm a Celebrity contestant Lord Brocket!

It sees daredevil Nigel Marven camping out in the South African wilderness, where he attempts to win big cash prizes for charity by facing a number of hair-raising challenges - often involving the local wildlife. He will be competing against two six-person teams drawn from the general public, whose numbers will be whittled down throughout the series as the weakest members are voted off by their comrades.

I know I'll be watching.........I prefer the reality shows that actually present a challenge to those taking part although I do watch the others.

ils

According to my TV Magazine this is a 6 part series. Each week the 2 teams compete in 3 challenges, winning up to £5000 if they're sucessful. As the show goes on, the tasks will get harder and the weaker members are voted off by their team mates. (this reminds me of something - not sure what tho :wink2: )

The 2 teams have to compete against wildlife expert Nigel Marven who takes part in all the challenges on his own. Any money that is won is placed in a kitty. If the sole survivor ot either team win the final challenge he or she will keep all the cash, but if Nigel wins then the money will be given to charity...

This sounds like it deserves it's own forum Haydon!!!

What with 2 teams, challenges and being voted off by a member of your team!

I watched this tonight and didn't really know what to think. All we got to see on ITV were the three challenges. But when I turned over to ITV2 it showed more of them in camp and what they were up to which for me was better.
You could get to know the personalities of them all. I think they should have more of that on the main programme.

As for the evictions, it didn't really say how it was going to work, did it. It's not the public voting them off, its each other. But is it their own team or the other team. They didn't really explain it very well did they.

ils
01-01-2005, 11:05 PM
It wasn't very well explained at all, which was disappointing. I still enjoyed it though. I wish we had been introduced to all the 12 contestants and not just the 6 that did the challenges.

I agree about the ITV2 programme which gave us more information on the contestants and life in the camp. I wish they had explained about the evictions and generally more how it was going to work.....

As always there wasn't any totty for the girls but that aside I will be watching again next week.

I quite enjoyed it but thought it was a bit boring to watch the same challenge 3 times over, albeit by different people.

I don't know how people'll get kicked out but at the moment I think there's just too many of them to form any opinions. Although, judging by Nigel Marven's reaction, Mehmet seems a bit of an irritating wally.

For one fascinating moment I thought Nigel was in fact Nick from Survivor One!! Of course I quickly realised my mistake. Mind you like our Nick, Nigel does think rather highly of himself doesn't he? he now reminds me of a cross between a character that Michael Palin would do as a pee take and Steve Irwin! I also noticed the programme was devised, produced, written, first thought up in a pub by, etc etc all by Nigel.

I watched it last night and quite enjoyed it. But didn't really see the point of it. How is it fair to vote off characters before they've all done a challenge each, or don't they vote each other off. I would prefer to see team challenges blues against yellows and for Nigel to get fed to the crocodiles.

Also I wondered if, for instance in the first challenge, did the second team know how well the first team did? If so it seemed unfair, but maybe they are put in a soundproof box like they used to on Mr and Mrs ... now there was a fascinating reality prog that had you on the edge of your seat everytime!

Well, what a show! Seemed like there was so much action in one sitting. Saying that, less challenges and more life in camp is needed! I want to get to know the people from within the teams.

The girl that undertook the challenge (upside down specs) in the blue team, Yvonne, she made me laugh. She was falling all over the place. What a laugh my mates and i had! She put in an excellent effort tho.

Nice chicks in camp, especially Sarah and Cath. Get that Mic person out. How arrogant has he turned out to be (was highlighted on the itv2 show), more so than Mehmet, well almost!

I look forward to the next show. :bye:

Managed to catch some of this earlier. Didn't realise ole Brockett was presenting - he was quite good if a bit over enthusiastic sometimes.

Don't know much about any of the contestants but was pleased when Menmet (sp) 'the mouth' lost to the girl and then the other guy on the bungie jump. Home come the other guy wasn't wearing garish team t-shirt and shorts? Looks like he was just walking by and thought he'd have a go.

quartz

He is an opposing one man team playing for charity!

We seem to be seeing more of some contestants than others. This is dissapointing! (ITV2) I want to see what they are all like besdies Cath.

I managed to see it last night and well.......I wasn't that impressed really....that Ahmet is an annoying, spolit, cocky little putts and well the games look more fun than challenging....but then I am a little twisted.....I think Nigel is doing very well considering he has to take part in every event.....well done.....I just hope that they double whatever he makes for charity as the teams clearly have the advantage!

Dolores

I think maybe things will hot up next week as it looks like the voting might start.

I have to admit it's enjoyable early Sat eve tv, but it's not exactly gripping, well not yet.

I remember the S1 series when my heart would be literally pounding as they went to tribal council it was absolutely riveting.

I think this programme would be better if it was team challenges rather than individuals from each team.

But my son and me are enjoying watching it, if only for the wildlife and the scenery.

I think the show was pretty tame this week, altho I don't think I would've done the Hot Pepper Task, Nigel looked as if he was gonna pass out.... Glad Ahmet lost the challenge... Out of the two teams Gareth looks like the strongest contender, no doubt he'll probably get voted out by that old man Mick or Karen

ils
14-01-2005, 11:13 AM
Taken from What's on TV!

The contestants face the first evictions after 14 days & nights together...But before they can get rid of their competitors they must complete 3 new challenges!

I wonder how many are evicted!

Claire Moore
14-01-2005, 04:46 PM
I reckon at least 6 get voted, then they'll have 3 on each team to battle for the winnings for the final challenge. I wonder if they'll show who nominated who, that way we'll see the true colours if each character...

I think Mehmet and Mick's going to get voted off

I'd like to see the yellow teams captain Gareth go against Rob or Mehmet I think that we'll be a fair match

Adzam
15-01-2005, 06:07 PM
What a shame Nick and Karen went! I thought they were both one of the stronger ones! It should have been Mick and Mehmet! I would like to see more of how the contestants made these decisions as those two names just seemed completely random! Good show though!

Dolores
15-01-2005, 07:44 PM
I watched it again - out of a dogged determination that it's gonna improve - but alas I was wrong!

Even with voting in the equation it is still boring and slow. The showed intriguing snippets of people say why the voted X off, but not who they were talking about - in fact they showed those shots at least twice.

I think Lord Brocket is a complete ****! he sounds like a poor man's Eddie Waring - with all that jolly forced laughter and the inane commentary!

Hello everybody

I'm new to this so forgive me if I'm doing this incorrectly, but I'm one of the contestants from Scream and like you I've been a little frustrated with how they have shown everything that happened.
I agree with you that the show is a little rushed and the format is not properly explained but really the most frustrating thing for many of us from the show is that it is not really showing all the fun we had in South Africa doing the challenges and living in Camp. I actually prefer the ITV2 show as it the one which explains more about us! (sounds a bit egotistical I know)

I can say that I think things will get better, as when we move camp to Cape town we only do two challenges and so there will be more time to explain events around them.

Hi Emilo :)

Nice to have you on board. I have really enjoyed the show but it is a shame that they didn't make the ITV1 & ITV2 shows into one. I enjoy the 2nd one the best because you see more of the contestants but unfortunately they repeat the challenges that you have only seen minutes earlier which is a little boring.

One show each week of about 1hr 30mins would have been better, shown on ITV1....

That Mick is a nasty old so and so, because he cant keep up with the others (youngesters) he needs to find a way compensate that. He's fat so and worn out the only way him getting back at the other contestants is by saying aload of hurtful things. It so wasnt necessary for him to say all that about Yellow team. Did you see how he was blowing out his **** on the Elephant task, it looked as if he done the London Marathon. Before he starts talking about other people and there lifestyles he needs to look at the state of himself.

I don't think the tv has given justice to our fantastic surroundings. I think they almost had too much film to cram into a small slot on a saturday and certainly managed which bits they used badly. He's right you know Dol.
I wonder how many kids, partners, parents from the BB housemates are reading this, I did say "how many" because I am willing to bet there are several.
I know if any member of my family was in a TV show I would be scouring the web to see what was being said about them, and so would you.
This programme went out recorded, not live, so you are going to get at least the two who have shown up, (and pleased to see you I am!) plus many others reading what has been said about Mum, Dad, kids etc.

Firstly, My first post on this forum so hi all!!!!

Can I confirm with anyone here what I read on teletext last night that Scream! If you want to get off has been axed due to low ratings?

I can't believe it has happened, if it has, how stupid a move can ITV make, the show only had, what 3 episodes left! And instead by the looks of it they are replacing it with Jurrasic Park re-runs, oh cause that will get the ratings up no end!!!!

BTW, hi to all those contestants of the show who have posted here, I personally loved the show!

.... Jurassic Park!? Jurassic.... PARK!!!!???? Oh my good God.
ITV? >> You need a staff overhaul - very very soon!! Who's bright idea was that?? Ridiculous state of affairs, this. There's only, what, 3 episodes of Scream! left. It was just getting good too.
Confused tho: how come they're still showing Camp Diaries...??
Any ideas...??

Please, someone keep an eye out for the actual ratings regarding Jurassic bloody Park... I'd be very interested to see how much better this does in comparison.. (dear God above! what are they thinking?)

BTW.. kebab1 >> chill out.. I meant no harm. Aplogies to you and yours.

I'm shocked!

I read that the show was reaching an audience of 4.2 Million and this week it slipped to 3.7. Maybe this was caused due to the time change of 7pm to 6.10pm and lack of exposure!

Why have ITV done this? They only had three shows left. Surely they could have ended this series so the viewers witnessed the outcome and then decided not to produce another one!

I imagine there will be a few disappointed peeps! Thanks ITV!

Hello everybody

Sadly the news is true, ITV have pulled the series due to the poor ratings. I think I can safely say that all the other contestants are mortified as well. It seems such a strange thing to do, but they obviously think its better to pull it now than to try to get the viewing figures back up. It seems shame as it was getting more interesting as the series progressed, but I think the format was rushed and confused in the beginning and that put people off.

oh well there goes my life of fame and fortune!!!

Sorry to hear it confirmed Emilio, you must be so disappointed!

How on earth they expect reruns of a film that a very high population of the country probs already own anyways to get higher ratings is beyond me.

I've sent my complaint to ITV, not that it will make any difference.

Just as the voting was starting as well.....gutted!

PS: If they put it on ITV2 I will be even more gutted cause I ain't got it

I went through the itv website, if you look right at the bottom, there is a tiny option for 'Contact Us'.

Will let you know as and when I recieve a reply, although I ain't got my hopes up.

I cant believe they've axed the show, with just 3 weeks left are they stupid or something. It was just getting interesting with all the vote off's and bitching. ITV have lost the plot by replacing it with Jurassic Park, how old is that film...
Are we ever going to find out what team one the show and who got voted out.... ???

Stevec write a long list of complaints and let us know the outcome please this aint on.

Bloody Jurrasic Park for god sake.

I've just seen an article in The Sun that Scream has been axed.... Is ITV crazy or what with just a couple of weeks left:angry:

Is it going to continue on ITV 2 because its still scheduled. I want to know what team won...

My daughter tells me its been replaced with Jurassic Park a 12 year old film...What is going on with terrestial television.

Not only Jurrasic Park, but apparently all three movies over the next three weeks, what a waste!

Claire, the complaint was intense to say the least! Will post the reply when (if) I get one

Scream! If You Want to Get Off!

I did, and nothing happened.

I'm not the best one to comment because I only saw about five minutes of this last week. It was the bit where the contestants were being subjected to an awful smell through a nasal tube whilst sitting in a chamber blowing bubbles. Maybe the rest of the series has been fantastic, but this was mind-numbingly pointless as we have yet to receive smellivision so any suffering they might have been going through was totally lost on me.

Well! What can I say! :ranting:

If ITV :boxing: were not happy with the ratings they should have re scehduled the show, rather than end it where they did!

Wasn't Jaurassic park good? NOT

Well the reply to my complaint too ITV is in, and surprise, surprise, its all too brief and too the point:

Thank you for your e-mail. As the programme did not achieve the
audience that was expected, it is unlikely that the rest of the series
will be shown. We have made a note of your concerns and your comments
have been logged - ID 81589. A copy of this goes to all our senior
management.

Another words, tough! :ranting: :ranting:

If it is not popular to show it on a Saturday evening then why not put the remaining episodes on in a late night spot, so at least the viewers that did watch are not left without knowing who won and what the other challenges were. There are only 3 episodes left after all, anyone would think that there was about 20 or so left the way ITV are behaving!

Shame on you ITV!!!!

Hi,

Seeing as it doesn't look like they'll be showing the rest of the series, could the contestants/relatives of contestants that post here please fill us in on who won in the end and perhaps some of the later challenges.

I don't see why they just don't finish showing it on ITV2, I'm sure it would get much higher ratings than many of the programmes they show on that channel.

Cheers, Kate.

Probably wont do any good but decided to email ITV

Subject: Reschedule?

I understand why you removed Scream! If you want to get off! if it didn’t bring in the ratings. However some of us (3.7 million?) would still like to see the outcome of the series. This is a request for the series to continue on ITV2 or at a different time on ITV1 please?

Regards,

I, like others I'm sure, found this forum after searching Google trying to figure out why the heck the show wasn't on anymore. I really hope ITV decides to finish airing it on ITV2 at some point, but who knows...

And as for whoever said there wasn't any good totty... Hello? Did you SEE Rob's chest and biceps? ;)

It was me :)

I did see the chest and the bicepts but the overall package wasn't so good imo - so not totty for me!

Oh bum, why didn't anyone tell me - I would have watched it had I known this specimen of manhood was displaying his rippling muscles :)

Mantooth, you said you did a google search. We obviously came up, but was it being discussed elsewhere to any degree? Sometimes this can give be a good pointer towards the appeal of the program. Not always, but reality TV and all its offshoots tends to be a hot topic of conversation on television orientated forums, so a lack of discussion might indicate the series isn't as faring as well as you would have hoped. Just a thought.

If I recall correctly, the very first hits were for a topic over at Digital Spy. This one was just a few below those.
