I have the local news on the TV (in the middle of 'This Morning') and it has just been announced that 2 cranes have collasped at a school, killing two men and injuring another.

I just knew before they said the name of the school, it was at the school my sons are at.

No idea Voice! I just heard the news on the TV and that was all the info given. There will be no point in contacting the school as the lines will be blocked! I just hope they come home soon!

I gave them both a huge hug  when they came in, much to their disgust

My youngest heard a noise and looked out of the classroom window and saw the crane fall.....

Work that mannequin...

I put in - top 14 - in the search so only what I was looking for came up and you didn't have to trawl thru 100's of items. When I got my lacy one I put in - Lacy top 14.

Be specific. :pimp:

My interesting news (interesting to me anyway) is that when I think I am having a conversation with people at work, they see me as introducing issues or criticising. I know that I am using dialogue as a way of working out things that I don't feel I understand. So my interesting news is that I believe we have lost the art of conversation and in its wake we have introduced email, text, issues, meetings, problems and, for me, it not only is boring but I love to talk and argue and yet in todays climate the union would probably have something to say about that!!!! News=moan=insight!

Well, today had a lovely day with the boys.

Went on the train to a local town, bought the boys a toy each (I'd promised them if they were good for the last six weeks they could have a toy in the holiday, bit of bribery never did a child no harm:D ) took them to Mcdonalds, and caught the train back.

Tomorrow, kids friends are coming round and we are having a baking day.
Each of them get their own bowl and get to make some buns for me to scoff when they have gone to bed:w00t:

I had 3 men to inspect my kitchen instead of just the one I was expecting. They actually seemed to know what they were doing but the proof is in the pudding as they say!

So on the 3rd & 4th of March, they are coming back to move some cupboards, replaced the sink, lay new flooring, re artex the ceiling etc, etc.

Hopefully that will be the end of it, 12 months after the kitchen was 1st fitted, but I am not going to hold my breath.....

Only one was reasonable but unfortunately he wasn't tall, short men just don't do it for me!

My whole house is a disaster area, I need a new roof, new guttering to the front of the house, they need to take the old fireplace out which they failed to do when the heating was installed and they have to come and relay the drive as all the concrete has been pulled up by a tree before someone breaks their neck. I think a few letters need to be written!! I think I'll ask for a new bathroom whilst I am at it  Although some how I doubt the housing association will be very forthcoming, but if you don't ask you don't get!!!

Just now I have been marking the knobs on my cooker in readiness for the weekend.

The markings on the cooker buttons have faded, but as I know which way to move the button and by how many clicks to get the oven/grill on, it doesn't bother me.
But as I am away this weekend, I have had to mark all the buttons, as hubby doesn't know what is where. Basically because he never uses the cooker:w00t:

If they turn funny tell them that you will seek legal advice

kimmy, if you're signed off work, then your company cannot allow you back to work until the doctor says you're fit. You have nothing to be worried about.

If your boss can't cope in your absence, then your boss is at fault, not you.

I could see she had been crying so I invited her in, and with that she burst into tears as her mum had just had to have her dog put down. She just had to get out of the house and went for a walk and ended up at my place. She then waiting an hour and half for my son to arrive home from school before they went back to her house so they could be there when her dog was buried!

Oh I didn't realise we had had them for so long but they must have found someone - and I do have to say they are very very sexy:wink_kiss

Mr F excelled himself last night in the loopy stakes. He was trying to elicit a smile from teenage son - so he put a bit lid on his head, and pretended it was a motorbike helmet - he then went on to say 'Look it even has a visor' - and he proceeded to whack himself in the nose with the sharp edge of the flip top bin opening the 'visor'.

Did it elicit a smile?? You bet, followed by much guffaws from all of us.

All the snow from yesterday melted away in the afternoon.

But woke this morning to a dusting of snow, and it has been snowing all morning.
We now have about 2inches of snow on the ground. It's probably a good job the snow melted yesterday otherwise we'd be totally snowed in.
We are off to the shop in a minute for the boys to have a run around in the snow.

We've got a brand spanking new library discovery centre which has just opened near to us. I've been in there today with my son and I must say I was highly impressed overall.

There are banks and banks of PCs which are easy to access the internet on, loads of books, local history items, a coffee shop and best of all, for me anyway, TOILETS!!!! which it never used to have. Now I love libraries and books but they always make me go all squidgy inside and I always need to pee (is this just me or is anyone else like this!!!), so having toilets on site is just fabulous!!!

The lighting is a bit garish and the colour scheme too trendy and it's very very open plan, but on the whole I'm very happy with it.

Dol...I popped in after our Thursday afternoon boozey session.......it does look very impressive although their film and TV section is still incredibly out of date and very, very limited! :(

Have to say you may find me hiding in the cafe from time to time though working on my screenplays and reading my own book when I can't be bothered to travel to Starbucks! :cool2:

Oooo...you mentioned the loos....well you didn't check out the W/Spoons ones the other day.....there was a poo :pooh: in the only one left available when I had to go!

Cor Cockney - surveys. The worst things in the world. Ours showed up no end of stuff which had never caused us any trouble. The buyers had a full survey done, and they spent 3 hrs searching every nook and cranny. We ended up having to knock £3k off the asking price to pay for new electrics :ranting:

Have some goss lol

At the end of school today a panicked voice came on the tannoy saying that all students were to remain in their classrooms and that all senior male members of staff were to come to the building at the front of the school immediately. There was mayhem at the front of the school as 20+ men (no idea who, why, where from) had pushed over the headteacher as he opened the gates and ran to the nearest building (where mostly the younger students are) and caused havoc invading the school. All the other buildings were locked to prevent any further access. The police turned up pretty sharpish in force and the men legged it, with some getting caught.
This was quite surprising and I have no idea why on earth why the hell they would do such a thing. Maybe jealous of the school?
Hopefully will found out more later. I don't know if anyone was seriously harmed as everyone was made to go home as fast as possible after the police arrried.
Do you think it is necessary for schools to have people employed to provide security?

It was scarey but as Flip said terribly exciting! Love the adrenaline rush. Was prepared to face anything.
He is okay thankfully as my friend saw him talking to the police. I have a sneaky suspicion it was sixth formers from the not so good school (putting it nicely) in the area who had a half day because of Red Nose Day. But even by their standards it was very brave! Intense school rivary stopped about ten years ago and I hope this will not resurrect it.

I have scrubbed windows, moved furniture, hoovered skirting boards, hand washed the hall, family room and kitchen floor [on my knees], polished the silver, handwashed all the ornaments, dusted pictures you name it I have done it in 4 rooms - and I am shattered beyond belief but feel most proud.

It sells nuts, banana chips, bombay mix, loads of fresh herbs and spices and loads of stuff like that.
Well I was in my element, I wanted to buy the whole shop.

Well I came away with some liquorice for the men of the household, some balti mix spices, and a bag of honey roasted peanuts for me.
It was a toss up between the peanuts and the cashew nuts.

Needless to say I now have an empty bag of honey roasted peanuts in front of me, they were delish :eat:

I just popped in to say I'm sorry for disappearing off the face of the earth without a word last week, and I'll try to do better in future. :wink_kiss

My business partnership dissolved yesterday. Things went terribly wrong last week. The other guy threw a double-six and suddenly demanded we change the terms I've negotiated with several minor partners - making the deal vastly more beneficial for us and very unfair for them. We wrestled until yesterday morning and then accepted the inevitable and walked away from each other. I told all the partners yesterday.

I've put six months into this and it's all gone. As you can imagine, I'm poleaxed. I don't know what I'm going to do with myself now, and Mrs Dab and I are left with some money "issues"... not good.

Then nearly at school, and Steven decides to walk into a wheelie bin and bang his head.

Whilst bathing the kids tonight, hubby kindly did the washing up.

Afterwards he mentioned how it was nice that there wasn't much pots to wash.

Now I had made up a lasagne today, so I had already washed 2 pans and all the pots from making it up. All he had to wash up was the plates, knives and forks and the lasagne dish.

I explained to him that was why there was so little. I tried to explain to him that when I cook something like meat, spuds and veg, there is going to be at least 2 pans to cook, with the plates, untensils and all other stuff.
I really think he expects tea to be cooked without any pans or trays, he thinks I use all the pots in the kitchen when I cook, but its really just his inability to understand that you can't actually make tea with just two plates and cutlery

Coastie love - that has cheered me up no end, seriously the thought of the Bomb Disposal Team, just arriving in their van has done old Flippy no end of good.

I have had a very long, traumatic and emotionally draining day - I am akin to a mouldy old dishcloth. So this old dishcloth is most pleased with images of khaki camo's and big helmets!!!

2 problem relationships with work so I raised this with my manager and spent 2 hours, using all my communication skills, trying to raise my managers awareness of this. One of the hardest pieces of work I have done for a while. I was exhausted after this, but looked after by work colleagues. They were peased that I had challenged someone's relationship skills that have been impacting negatively on all members of the team. Went to bed at 8pm as I was exhausted, and slept soundly for 11hours. So, today, another challenging day at work!

I have something to report...it is more shocking than interesting, but anyway..

I was doing my shopping at the local sainsburys this morning and was informed by a member of stff, that I know, that a woman was mugged in the underground car park at 9 o'clock this morning. She had her baby with her and three 'youths' shoved her and took her handbag. I am deeply shocked that you can't even bloody go shopping in safety now......the woman had her BABY with her for God's sake....

There are also little gangs going round pinching handbags out of trolleys....little gits want a bloody good hiding.....it make me so mad

That is shocking Buzz, and I bet those little toerags will jsut keep getting away with it. There is the recent story about the teacher being jailed for taking an airgun to some youths. Now I know she was wrong, but she had had enough, she had quite simply cracked. It is awful that innocent people, law-abiding people take the law into their hands and they end up being punished for it, because the law cannot do anything to these louts. I do hope they catch the youths who mugged the lady in your store Buzz, I mean how low can anyone stoop? :ranting:

One good prank deserves another

Send there name and address to the local branch of the Jewnutters witness in a little letter saying how much they would love to join them

Try and find the most inconvenient time for them to call
like say, seven o'clock Sunday morning and suggest it saying that they can pick them up and they can all go and praise god together

And then wait across the street from there house and have a good laugh as they try to get rid of them

o and dont forget to ring them just as they are about to knock
tell them your outside and knocking so that they open the door and stay on the phone if it is a mobile for even more fun

My nasty colleague left today ..... and i feel a bit 'odd' about it.

When i first joined she was a complete cow to me, and i couldnt bare to be near her. She wouldnt help me when i needed help, and all she did was snarl and be lazy.

BUT since she handed in her resignation she has changed. She suddenly became a nice giggly person, and i really enjoyed her company.

Now she has gone - and im all alone  The bosses havent recruited anyone else yet to replace her (they cant find the right candidate) and so ill have to look after them both for the next 3-4 weeks !!!

I didnt have any female company for 3 years in my last job, and i kinda liked having someone to gossip with here.

As much as it sickens me to say it ..... i think im going to miss her

And Dol I know what you mean, I was at the hairdressers on Monday and as I drove up to the car park, there was a caravan selling snacks [chips etc] and it was called 'Uncle Scoobys'!!

Kylie Diagnosed With Breast Cancer Pop queen Kylie Minogue has been diagnosed with breast cancer. She will undergo immediate treatment and has cancelled the Australian leg of her Showgirl tour.

The singer has also pulled out of the upcoming Glastonbury Festival.

The 36-year-old was diagnosed earlier this week while staying in Melbourne with her family.

Yes, shame about Kylie - so young too. Let's hope for a good outcome for her.

I have grandson tucked up in bed asleep at the moment. He was staying at his dad's girlfriends (he walks there from school and dad joins him there at 7 pm) on a Tuesday. She lent him her bike and he pulled a wheely and fell onto his back. He was in a lot of pain but mobile so I just told my son to go and get him and bring him back to me. Apparently g/friend was telling him off for doing wheelies on her bike, dad had a go at him for upsetting g/f and all he really needed was a cuddle and a bit of fuss.

I did the full wounded soldier bit, made him comfortable on the sofa with cushions and he soon perked up, especially when his friend came round with a broken remote controlled car and hubby put himself out to fix it for him, but he must have been in pain because he actually took some painkillers and I've never known him to take tablets before. He's been sleeping soundly for a while now so can't be too bad.

I know I spoil him but there's no point in ranting at him when he's obviously distressed.

I have just moved into Period 2 (May) on my accounts system. This is the first time in 5 years that I have been in a period whilst it is still happening - usualy you don't get the reconcilation report from the council till months later.

HURAHH! to Bedfordshire County Council.

And so you should Critique, that's what grandmothers are for! It is their job to spoil their grandchildren!

I agree Critique, if you can't spoil them who will! You go for it, if it makes you feel good, you go for it and don't feel guilty about it!

Crikey Floopy - what age are they in year 11 - 16? We do it different up here in Scotland, once you start secondary school, you begin with S1, S2 etc....

Isn't it scary that children are committing adult crimes, the ones that have been arrested for the recent murder of the school-girl, Mary-Ann are in there early teens.

Yup, 15-16. None of the staff are surprised. His elder brother is already inside on an ABH and his mother is a crackhead, apparently.

Nice.
